Thanks for the compliment .. I appreciatte it ... very kind of U ... Agree 100% on the Stilers .. there brutal about that ... they consistently play down to their opponents level .. I advise everyone to stay grounded .. not sure if you’ve read my optimism thread in PF .. thats what started the Isle of Optimism ... My sole purpose was to point out that we have TALENT NOW ... and its clear ... this could still end up a bad year in the w/l column ... but the talent is there .. we still have a ways to go but this is not the SAME OLD BROWNS ... We’ve been so bad and beaten up as fans for so long but this is different ... With that said ... we get beaten bad by a pretty good football team thats really peed off right now and things will be back to normal for a week til we play the Jets and crush them .. *L* .. Whats that off in the distance ... oh my god ... THE FACTORY OF SADNESS IS BEING DEMOLISHED as i type ... .. I also vowed to have fun REGARDLESS ...

If I read one more time that the Steelers handed the game to us, I will puke. Nothing was handed. We took the win from them. Yeah we tied, but it was against one of the best teams in the league. A favorite to make the super bowl this year.
They were 13-3 last year, and are fielding pretty much the same team, with upgrades to the defensive backfield and guys like Watt in their second year. We were 0-16. We stood toe to toe with them, and forced fumbles and intercepted balls. Those plays TOOK the win from Pittsburgh. Except for the long INT, plays were made by our defense that created turnovers. Stripping the QB, punching the ball from a runners arms are not things that are HANDED to you. Those are great plays. Plays that in the past have caused us to lose, because they were done to us.
No we didn't win, but I bet that there are some coaches in NO pouring over film and thinking they better come up with something because this team is coming to play.
We didn't get a win, but neither did Pittsburgh. Let that sink in.
RIP, Jim

Thanks, dawg. Just curious, what positions do you have open there on the isle? If I make it there, I want to contribute.

Place is blowing up this week ... i gots all kinds of jobs ... We need bartenders, lifeguards, security (we caught some Stiler fans trying to invade last week), musicians, dj’s, someone to run the marina, to help out in hr depending on weather deepsouth wants the head honcho job, lalson or muscle for bud as i’m Not sure how its gonna work out ...(there skimping on the free kegs for our first victory) and also gonna launch a few new ferries this week in anticipation of the JETS JETS JETS game ... could use a few more captains ... Let me know when your ready dawg .. TAKE ALL THE TIME U NEED ...

J/C... haven't posted in a long time but have been reading most forum topics. Played a good game but there is plenty to work on.
Encouraged with the turnovers and pressure that we got. But we failed to capitalize on them.
I don't have the game recorded and I had my share of barley and hopps; but I thought that more than one occasion (4 I think)on passing downs; that Garrett dropped back in coverage. It didn't make sense when considering how disruptive he was rushing.
Anyway, I am ever the optimistic and look forward to next week.

I saw a veteran QB with almost no pocket presence. He doesn't stay in the pocket and slide/move around when the opportunity is there. Jim Donovan said on the radio Monday morning that "the pocket must have had hot coals in it the way Tyrod looked to get out of there". To be fair, there was too much pressure too often...but his pocket presence is putrid.
I've read some posts that opined that Gordon looked slow. I agree...but so did everyone else out there for the most part. It was wet, wet, wet and you could tell guys were trying to keep their feet.
I didn't see a lot of open receivers on the field. However, Gordon being regularly covered one-on-one on the outside was either not-seen or not-of-interest.

Yes ... we will have a better picture in 2 or 3 weeks ... Mr. Darnold will be in an entirely DIFFERENT ELEMENT come week 3 than he was in week 1 .. And its not just us thats gonna have a clearer picture ... Week 1 is always FULL OF SHOCKERS ... week two things usually return to “normal” .. by that i mean a better indication of what to expect the rest of the season ... Like i said Rasta ... have fun and enjoy doing whatever your purpose here is ... Just a quick note...the LIONS sucked I mean real bad they had the one good play (the first play - pick 6) then was all down hill from there. On O, D and ST poor Patricia was stunned and in shock. The Lions are a very bad team. Talking about playing down to an opponent? We face a good Steeler team the Jets face a team that will be picking top 5 in the draft.
Can't wait for Mayfield to take over the reigns of the team possibly around game 8. I just hope that Hue can make the call.

I would like to add one more thing regarding our D front 7. Especially our DTs. They are built on speed and attacking one gap. There was a lot of rain and although the field was in good condition. Trust me on this, on grass and that much rain the explosion and penetration was not there from our DTs which was the main cause of the Steeler success in the run game as well as not much penetration up the middle for the pass. Against a very good OL especially up the middle When you got fast light DTs not able to make the initial penetration the OGs and Center get their hands on them and control them.
I think our defense will prove to be AWESOME and will show its great potential in NO on Artificial surface!

The soggy field didn't seem to hinder any of the Steelers Dline from getting into our backfield with ease...Did you see Watt ?

I hope you are right, because if we looked that bad against Conner, what do you think Kamara is going to make us look like?

The Steelers do have a great offensive line, though.

The Steelers do have a great offensive line, though. IDK about that. I think they are overrated to be honest. Decastro is good, Pouncey is good, I think LT is overrated, big al. Ramon Foster is eh. I think they benefited from Lev bell and a lot of teams dropping etc into coverage to go at AB.

The Steelers do have a great offensive line, though. I wouldn't say that individually they are great but as a unit they're pretty darn good, but a lot of that has do with the fact the other then injuries and couple of player changes at LT this unit has been together since 2012 so they know what to expect from each other.

The Steelers have had a top 3 OL for a few years now. Dallas has gotten worse and the Raiders have seemingly taken a step back. I think the best OL in football right now is between Pittsburgh and Philly.

I agree, I was just saying that as individually other then DeCastro and possibly Pouncey I wouldn't say that the players are great but because they have played together for so long that they play as one cohesive unit that makes them one of the top Olines.

Well I was talking about the Interior and the DTs...Watt was on the edge and the more TT held onto the ball the more he did penetrate. Did you see Garrett? Have you ever played on a wet field? It slows down speed. Again our Interior DL is built on speed not 320 lb power 2 gap guys...we got rid of them. As that was no longer our scheme.

And I was talking about their Interior with our DTs...that was their strength and our advantage was speed and one gap attack which with the Wet field was hard to do and those OL like our Interior are strong and know when their hands are secured the DT is done.

That makes sense Tab but overall I was really disappointed with our run defence...I am worried about it moving forward but willing to let it play out another 2 games... probably 1 game actually...Conner had huge holes and there were numerous times he was a fingernail tackle away from more big chunks.

Dallas OL is not nearly as good without Frederick; he should return soon IIRC.
Pittsburgh's is very good.
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."
