But it didn't go down that way. Hue, in his press conference, said it was a "miscommunication" and a "mistake". It's not all that big a deal in a vacuum. But it just gets added to the list of odd things that have happened.

i am always amused when fans on a message board think they know more about “good play calling” than a coach who has been making a living for decades doing it at the highest level. food for thought....... an unsuccessful play is not by definition a bad play call.

I usually don't post much in these threads but I do enjoy reading them.

I didn't see anyone mention it, but one thingI noticed about Hyde yesterday is that he looks like he's stuffed for maybe a one-yard gain, if that, but then he still powers forward for an extra couple.

He reminded me a bit of our old #34, Kevin Mack.

I agree w/this. And when a couple of us actually talk about play design and play calling, like we did on the Steeler Breakdown thread, all these play calling geniuses have nothing to add.

The thing that pissed me off more than anything was towards the end of the game I saw another Steelers player take off their helmet on the field after a big play. There was no penalty. That should have been a penalty and we should have gotten the first down.

If you listen to hues response to the media, he does everything he can to not throw haley under the bus when asked about this.

I believe his reply was "it was a personnel mishap" or something like that.

1. I like that hue did not throw haley under the bus
2. I absolutely believe haley put Gordon out there in defiance of hue by the tone in Hues voice, that is JMO.

I find it mind boggling that when they script the first 15 plays the head coach doesnt know what the first play of the game is going to be and what personnel group is involved in said play. Is Haley going offscript and doing his own thing? Did Hue ok the script without looking at it? One of the two just happened.

I’d vote once but the republicans have closed all the polling stations in my district and gerrymandered the area so bad my vote wouldn’t count if I could cast it anyway.
So... tongue

Watching it again, I have to say how impressive I found his first INT to be. That wasn't a play he lucked into or some weak tip-drill pick.
That was a seriously impressive, top-level, ball-hawking INT, the kind that states there will be more to come.

He showed complete awareness of where the WR's were, what they were doing, and he COMPLETELY read what Ben was doing and where he was going and he was breaking on that ball before it even finished coming out.

That kind of pick should make EVERYONE here excited for his future.

The wind was blowing kicks north late in the game. Pitt's missed field goal was wind-pushed north - they were kicking east.

Gonzales lined up and kicked the ball toward the left upright to compensate for the wind-push - he was kicking west. Pitt over-loaded that side and got the block.

Coincidence? I think not. Impressive call by the Cheaters if they play-planned that way.

I just put this here so folks could enjoy it a second time.

Dawgs- that was a pro bowl-level play.

If I'm Hue, I tell the OC and DC that they are on their own for the foreseeable future. Then I declare myself Discipline Coordinator and Special Teams Coach. Cleaning up those two areas should be Hue's #1 priority given the issues there AND the experience of his coordinators.

Discipline and ST need someone's attention, but I'm not sure Hue is the man for those jobs.

If I'm Dorsey, I'm telling Hue to focus on gameplanning and motivating and let Williams and Haley handle discipline for their respective units.

Maybe give Special Teams some more time. Both personal attention and actually on the field as (complete) units.

I think we could have our solid backup QB for the next 5-8 years in TT...whenever that day comes.

Cleaning up STs is imperative. We simply cannot be this bad and expect to win close games

Not knocking Ogunjobi's performance, but I found this interesting in response to PFF's stats on him...

@Ryan_McCrystal
Supposedly Larry Ogunjobi led the Browns with 6 QB pressures and Garrett only had 2, but I just went through to try to pull video of Ogunjobi's pressures and I'm convinced whoever charted that game for PFF got the numbers 65 and 95 confused

Ryan McCrystal Verified account
@Ryan_McCrystal
I was excited to watch Ogunjobi dominate cause the stats looked great, but you have to really stretch the definition of a pressure to come up with 6 plays he made as a pass-rusher. One play he did impact though was collapsing the pocket on Ward's first INT

Ryan McCrystal Verified account
@Ryan_McCrystal
Here's another one where Ogunjobi probably got credit for a pressure. But he's only given the opportunity to chase Roethlisberger bc Garrett and Smith collapse the pocket from the edge. But neither Garrett or Smith were credited with any QB hurries in the game

I agree. We should be able to, but currently cannot win a track meet shootout game IMO.
TT better fire that cannon rather than hatching the ball back there. And throw some crossing stuff. Scout the Cheesehead team.

Will we be able to shove the Aints around on offense?
