I wonder how many they are working out today. If I had to choose between Walsh and Santos I'd prefer Santos. Need to act fast with this short week.

We played two of the supposed top teams.

We should be 2-0.

The kicking game is part of the offense.

There were no missed blocks. The snap and hold were good. Game inside a dome.

No excuses this is professional football. You get paid to do a job. He has all the time in the world to prepare.

He chocked. Period. He knows it. You have to make those kicks. He is accountable. And most likely will be let go.

The offense?

We knew going in it would take time to gel. No surprise there.

Overall I am happy with the way we have played.

If Gonzales had done his JOB. We would all be singing a different tune right now.

I would love to see Phil retire as a Brown, but he honorably did his time here and wanted to leave. I hope we don't trade for him without his prior approval of a trade.

Plus, he's gotta be on his last 1-2 years. Sucks that zane didn't work out ... having a kicker for a decade is a huge bonus

At the time, I pegged the pick of Gonzalez as the pick of the draft. Sadly, even I'm ready to pull the plug after these last 2 weeks. I know the blame isn't solely on Zane, but if he makes his kicks, we're 2-0 against 2 tough teams.

If that is true and there is still hope for him, then put him on IR.

Wait, what? The kicker had a groin injury all week—one that needs an MRI—and instead of trying out kickers/signing one, they just trot Zane out there to struggle in a dome? This is FINE.

Heh, we can't even common sense right. Are we going to get into league trouble if the story is true and he wasn't even listed on the injury report?

What the info doesn't state is when he got it...if he did. Was it during the game? All week? What?

That reply from Andrea Hangst seemed to imply all week but I don't know where the heck she got that from.

Greg Joseph sounds like a made up name.

Apparently, he was an UDFA on a tryout for the Dolphins this preseason. He was 2-2 in the preseason making kicks of 48 and 54 yards.

Browns to sign Greg Joseph to replace Zane Gonzalez
Gonzalez reportedly kicked Sunday with a groin injury

DARYL RUITER
SEPTEMBER 17, 2018 - 1:39 PM

Cleveland, OH (92.3 The Fan) – The Cleveland Browns will sign rookie kicker Greg Joseph to replace Zane Gonzalez on Monday.

Gonzalez missed 2 PATs and 2 field goals, including a 52-yarder in the closing seconds that would’ve tied the game, in the second half in the 21-1 loss at New Orleans Sunday.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Gonzalez had been kicking with a groin injury, which has gone undisclosed and will require an MRI today. Gonzalez never appeared on the team’s injury report and it is unclear if Gonzalez kept the injury to himself.

Joseph is a rookie out of Florida Atlantic University that did not make the Miami Dolphins team. He hit all 3 of his field goals – 33, 48 and 54 yards – during the preseason for the Dolphins.

Over 4 seasons at FAU Joseph made 57 of 82 field goal attempts and 165 of 170 PATs in 50 games combined.

The Browns host the New York Jets Thursday night.

out of all the NFL caliber FA just waiting, we sign just about the last guy you'd want save pulling some guy with a dad bod and beer helmet out of the stands to kick the game winner

My guess would be that Gonzales didn't tell the team about his injury until he blew a kick or 3. (or 4) He probably hoped he could kick with it, and didn't want to risk losing his job. (which is happening anyway)

Before i trash this i’d like to know how he got to be a 70% career FG kicker ...

Did he go:

68%
73%
66%
71% ...

Or did he go:

55%
63%
70%
84%

I didn’t do the math so the anal dawgs can bite me .. *L* ..

What length were his misses ...

Lots to know before we start trashing him ...

His pre-season went well ... thumbsup

I’ll at least wait til he misses his first kick before I start with the SAME OLE BROWNS refrain .. *L*

I just looked at his college stats. He was close to a 70% kicker throughout his career.

Last year he went:

0-19 no kicks attempted
20-29: 7 of 7
30-39: 3 of 4
40-49: 4-7
50+: 1 of 3

This really confuses the heck out of me. There have to be many kickers available who are better than this guy.
