Where Phil played ball I seriously doubt he saw snow in college... north Texas gets snow occasionally... rest of Texas gets snow rarely.... plenty of rain...

I find it odd that so many are in favor of the cutting of Zane............for missing a few kicks............but defend a coach that is 1-31-1 over the last 2 plus seasons. Just seems odd to me. I agree. But I have to admit that I see no reason not to give Hue this season. Cutting him now almost insures a losing season, keeping him means the same I think. Might as well give the players their HC until the end of the season.

Actually, they felt losses due to kicking errors meant fix it now. Not curious about when he might get better. So this bit ends here. Seemed like a good guy who should have stuck. Business decision.

Zane came in here last year and missed some key kicks. Then he got better, but still had misses. Missing two PATs and two FGs in one game is unacceptable. He's a freaking kicker, who was not consistent, and people are mad because we cut him. I don't get it. Kickers are a dime a dozen.

Clearly Dorsey couldn't trust Gonzalez any more than Josh Gordon.
Seems like an odd choice in Greg Joseph, but his college numbers could be misleading (bad snaps, etc.) He did make all his kicks in preseason action.

So it comes out! Former Browns kicker Zane Gonzalez was kicking injured vs. Saints https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/1041729293297111046https://clutchpoints.com/browns-news-zane-gonzalez-was-kicking-injured-vs-saints/The guy was flipping hurt with a groin injury bad enough that he needs an MRI! and we cut him! Jackson and company knew he was hurt before they ever put him out there! Way to be classy Cleveland! Young man busts his arse here to try and win and even resort to playing flipping hurt because he wants to try and win, and we cut him. its a miracle this kid made the kicks he did being hurt, i'd love to see any other kicker make field goals with what is probably a torn groin muscle LOL guy shoulda been put on IR, not cut...when he heals up he will be a great kicker for someone else, just like Cam Erving has turned out to be a very good OL for the Chiefs....its no wonder we suck...guys can't even get 2 years in the city without being kicked to the curb, hell guys can't even get hurt for FFS!

This is only the 10th time this news has been posted. I know, but it still needs to be said. This isn't good...were far too quick to knee jerk and cut people, yet we stick with people like Gordon. This is why i don't want to play Baker Mayfield this year Vers...if the kid isn't Peyton Manning out the gate he isn't going to get a chance here in this city. When will this madness end? I'd maybe be ok with keeping Jackson if I knew we were actually going to give our draft picks more then 2 years to develop.

I am more confident in the direction and the make-up of this team than I have ever been since our rebirth.
It kills me that people were so positive the last two years when we didn't have much talent and are now down on the team. Brown's fans aren't all that smart. Their rabid, but man, I don't think they know football.

Their rabid, but man, I don't think they know football. I respect your views on this team in many ways. I know we haven't always agreed on things in the past, but one of the 1st things I learned from you years ago on these forums was "We gotta give our draft picks a chance to develop" It really burns me up that we have given up on a kicker we actually drafted in less then two years. Your right, Browns fans are very rabid, and most of us are not football experts by a long shot. (I am more of an IT and management and organization structure background kinda guy, a suit I guess you could say) In my career I have had a long history of taking young inexpereinced fresh out of college grads and turning them into great employees that we either hire on, or they get on somewhere else and do well. that kinda stuff takes time and resources to do. these people just didn't become great employees and know how to do everything perfectly overnight. I just wish the Browns organization was more patient with many of these young players we have. Gonzalez I really believe would have helped us down the road. I remember thinking "Man that Cam Erving was pretty darn good in college" I will admit he had a very rough rookie year, in some cases it looked like he didn't belong. However, rookies usually struggle in the NFL in various ways, its a big jump. the way Erving is playing in KC right now, man...we really coulda used him this year...if only we were patient enough to let him develop as a player. In my opinion young draft picks are like wine, they need to get some age on the bottle before they reach their potential. I see a really big missed opportunity with Gonzalez, he seems like a good kid. the fact he was willing to play hurt speaks a lot of about his driving and wanting to win here. Gonzalez won so many awards...Lou Groza, All American, he even holds the record for the most Field Goals made in NCAA Division I made in his career....a guy who is no good doesn't get these kinda accolades.....kicking is kicking be it pros or college....hopefully this is out last missed opportunity...

Yea.. Hue knew the kid was hurt. Lied about it to the league on the injury report, forced the kid to kick and then lied about it today when he told the press on his conference call that he never heard about any injury Zain might have had. And all this time knowing his OWN job could be on the line by forcing a one legged kicker out on the field.GMAB

Texas has snow, wind, rain, huricanes, tornados. That isn't exactly a weather friendly state. Since when does Texas have snow? ... u still drunk ... *L* ... I lived there for two years ... one day the 6 year old daughter of the girl i was dating came in screaming ... ITS SNOWING ITS SNOWING ... i walked out and acted all excited thinking ... i can barely see the flakes ... *L* ... Wind, rain, hurricanes and tornadoes ... yup ... they dont usually play in tornadoes or hurricanes ... there not real bright in Texas but they’ve learned over the years to not play football in hurricanes or tornadoes ... I was in basic training for the Air Force when this hit. Nor surprisingly they cancelled our town pass you get towards the end of it. https://www.mysanantonio.com/news/weathe...p#photo-9235625

I’ll never forget my first day of work down there ... it was mid-January ... i lived in Earl Campbells birthplace of Tyler Texas ... 70k population back then ...i was selling legal research materials to attorneys at the time ..... had appointments in Longview ... about 30 miles down the road ...
It was a cold day and i know that cause i wore my winter dress coat from back home ... there was also rain in the forecast ....
I got out on the highway and it was deserted .... i thought ... huh ... this is strange ... got to Longview (a smidge smaller than Tyler) and there were no cars on the road ... i’d Never been there but thought it was very odd ... i pulll into the parking lot of my first appt and theres no cars there ... i look around and theres no cars parked anywhere ...
I’m like what the HECK ... i’d Heard these towns will empty out on football Friday’s but this was a Monday morning at 9:00 AM ... *L* ...
I drive around and find a restaurant that was open .. only a few cars there ... i went in and asked where everyone was ...
Well cause there was rain in the forecast and the tempature was going to be below 30 degrees ... THEY SHUT EVERYTHING DOWN cause of the POSSIBILITY of the roads freezing ... *LOL* ...
Being from Rochester NY i was STUNNED and couldn’t believe it ..
I’ll never forget that as long as i live ...

Texas has snow, wind, rain, huricanes, tornados. That isn't exactly a weather friendly state. Texas is a big state. North Texas gets more snow than down here in San Antonio. Last year we had a snow storm that left about 2 inches of snow and they closed down the city. If he hasn't kicked in snow, he will get his chance now that's for sure.

Is that guy Gus ( can't remember his last name, sorry) still available? He could kick the ball a hundred yards unless he had poor footing because of all the rain.
