Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell voiced confidence Friday that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh will be confirmed despite the sexual assault allegation against him, promising supporters: “We’re going to plow right through it.”

“President Trump has nominated a stunningly successful individual. You’ve watched the fight, you've watched the tactics, but here's what I want to tell you, in the very near future Judge Kavanaugh will be on the United States Supreme Court,” he told supporters at the Values Voter Summit in Washington, D.C.

I hate to wade back in here .... but I just want to make one comment.

How would any of you feel if a woman accused you of some inappropriate behavior when you were a teenager ..... an accusation that could cost you your dream job ....and her account of nebulous, not able to even say when or where it happened .....?

It's almost impossible to prove a negative, but this whole situation stinks of a setup to try to derail this nominee.

I hope that I, or any of you, are ever faced with a similar situation.

I would feel like I finally got caught and refuse to cooperate with law enforcement.

imagine being raped by someone 35 years ago, coming forward with it, and having morons tell you that you're ruining his life. No wonder victims are silent. People don't treat these crimes with the seriousness that they deserve.

I'm not saying that he did. I'm just saying that the victims of sexual assault are often accused of ruining the life of their predator. Look at this case or Brock Turner. No one cares about victims of sexual assault and it's completely wrong.

yea, i guess that's a more of a concern than say, not sexually assaulting anybody in the first place.

you know why i dont have to worry about assault allegations? because i never harassed or assaulted a women before.

As a society we need to regain some Grace.

That would be horrible and that may very well be the case. I don't believe any of us know for sure. But let me tell what I wouldn't want, especially if I were innocent. I wouldn't want to give the impression that I didn't want it looked into. I wouldn't want the president refusing to let the FBI at least go talk to fellow class mates and others who have spoken out to this point.

I would want everyone to see that I'm fully open to the FBI looking into the matter. It's highly unlikely the FBI could ever determine whether the event actually happened or not. They could only report on things surrounding the situation.

But if I were in such a situation, I wouldn't want to give the appearance of glossing over something like this. I would do my best to quell suspicion.

I think the politics is going both ways here. Let me ask you, exactly what would be such a problem with allowing the FBI to take a week or so to interview their class mates and those who have already spoken out about this? I mean what would the harm be in that?

It's very possible that there's politics involved here. But the way I see it, both sides are playing politics here.

That's easy to say since people refuse to actually interview those involved or let any of them testify. But that's based on nothing but opinion. I mean since they won't allow anyone to gather the facts.

Investigating what?

No crime has been reported, no facts has been given under oath.

Where is the crime scene?

What year and month did it supposedly happen?

Why was she there?

How did she get there?

How did she get home?

Why was there not a police report made by her parents?

Where were her parents?

There is nothing to investigate!

Who was involved that hasn't been interviewed other than her?

Try doing a little reading. You did know that she passed a polygraph test, right? Or did where you get your news from even report that?

Sure sounds like a lot of questions for there to be nothing to investigate.

Answer those questions first or are you scared you 'll see there is nothing to investigate as of now.

Answer them and then they can start the investigation!

The FBI has no jurisdiction in anything like this.

The local police department would, and I cannot imagine them doing much more than looking at the massive outpouring of people who have said that cannot imagine this ever being done by Kavanaugh, and the fact that the woman's so called witness says it never happened.

At some point you have an unprovable accusation.

Kavanaugh has been through 5 or 6 FBI background checks, and they are pretty intensive. The woman may believe that what she said happened, happened .... but it is difficult to really believe it when she can't remember when, where, or who was present .... or (reportedly) even how she got home.

You do understand that polygraph tests are fairly accurate, right?

Who paid for the test? What questions were asked? Who gave the test?

Is it admissible in court?

Why are the not admissible in court?

I have done a lot of reading and you can't even show a crime has happened or even reported under oath.

Actually the president has the right to ask the FBI to investigate this. It happened in the Clarence Thomas nomination process. Of course when someone has 16 accusers and is a self proclaimed grabber, that's never going to happen. lmao

Hey, I distinctly kinda sorta remember seeing you in a parking lot 30 years ago. And, you stole $200 from me. No, I don't remember which parking lot. Or where. But, all I have to do is write a letter to a congress person IF you were to ever get nominated for a gov't. position. Then, the congress person can sit on it for 2 months - until it looks like you might get appointed. Then, they'll pull out my letter.

Oh, and they'll need to investigate. It'll, conveniently, take til just after the mid term vote.

So you have no answers, only more questions and excuses. I'm not surprised.
