If things continue to go as rosy as they have been with the talent he has brought in, I'm going to build a small shrine in my back yard and I'll invite everyone to come light candles at it for good luck on Game Days
Browns is the Browns
... there goes Joe Thomas, the best there ever was in this game.

I was going to start a thread about Dorsey. Dude deserves credit. Last year, he said something like we gotta get real players on this team.
He did.
He got 3 new QBs who are better than last year's group. By far.
He brought in Landry, who was in my mind the top free agent other than Cousins in the entire league.
He brought in Mitchell, Carey, and Gaines.
He traded for Randall.
He found the LT of the future.
He brought in Hubbard.
He drafted Baker, Ward, and Avery.
He stuck w/a HC who a lot of people wanted fired.
He had the guts to get rid of the cancer that was Josh Gordon.
He took a shot on Callaway. He took a similar shot on T. Hill in KC. I'm liking what I see from Callaway. He could really develop into a T. Hill type of dude.
No way this team would look nearly as good if Sashi was still here. Dorsey deserves a ton of credit for quickly upgrading the talent on this team while maintaining some consistency.

Baker and Ward are solid contributors. Two first round picks are solid contributors. Somebody pinch me.
And the last QB Dorsey drafted seems to be doing ok in K.C.

And the last QB Dorsey drafted seems to be doing ok in K.C. And We have an undrafted rookie as a starting left tackle and a 4th round pick as a starting receiver, a 5th round pick Avery Thats at least five key players in one draft. Thank you Mr Dorsey!

Sushi did not bring in a QB, and that is why he is gone.

We’re you on another planet during the Saints game? Lol He shouldn’t have been allowed on the team flight home. Of course he’s gone.

Good post Vers and this is only year one. We still have lots of draft picks and salary cap space for him to continue the built. Kudos Mr. Dorsey.
You dont have to win every game just the next one!

Dorsey's early returns have been tremendous. Improved talent in FA, used 1st round picks wisely (so far) ... and maybe found a GOOD nfl QB
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

jc...
Football experience does matter and the Browns were in need of a bunch when Haslam hired Dorsey who also brought in Alanzo Highsmith and Elliot Wolf to help.
All 3 individuals gained a large portion of their experience working in the Packers organization and the Browns were very fortunate to land them.
That instant infusion of experience and knowledge was needed and now the payoff is being felt by the fans and media. It's not just Dorsey, but a whole lot of people researching the available talent to help fill this franchise's needs.
Dorsey, Highsmith and Wolf also did a good job of incorporating the front office personnel that remained rather than firing everyone and starting over.
Give this management team a couple of more years and the ultimate goal might be within reach.

I enjoy your posts Vers and agree on the difference we see. Dorsey inherited a very good situation and has made the most of it. I see it as ultimately futile those who say 'Sashi would do this' or whatever. He's gone. I think he did a fantastic job on the cap / asset side which has led to this. To treat what we see today as totally detached from what came before is ignoring the reality of life in general. I completely agree that the free agent acquisitions have been really good, Landry in particular. The jury remains out on the two 2nd round choices but hey - each draft should get 3 years. Look at Schobert now.
I hope we keep building, keep progressing, keep winning. Nothing happens without influence from the past, good or bad.

The real question is this...
Does John Dorsey ever stop chewing gum? Hey Buddy Boy

John Dorsey has done an excellent job and not just with the 1st 2 picks also he did an excellent Job in FA ...
Baker Mayfield showed the world he was worthy of the number one pick ... I admit I wanted Darnold so thank goodness I did not make the Pick ... Tyrod is and will be a very good backup for us ...
Denzel Ward he is everything I saw him be at Ohio State he is a true Shut Down CB ... I am so glad we took him over Chubb at #4 knowing how poor our secondary was ... Terrance Mitchell has played great ...
Austin Corbett the Jury is still out but I have liked what I have seen I was surprised with taking him at #33 ... How about rookie FA LT Desmond Harrison ...
Nick Chubb Excellent pick IMO I hope he starts getting more touches soon ... Carlos Hyde was an excellent addition also ...
Chad Thomas hasn't done much yet ... but how about FA acquisition Chris Smith ...
Antonio Callaway has breakaway speed and is a star in the making if he keeps himself clean ... and Jarvis Landry in FA ...
Genard Avery is a stud and will only get better with more time ...
John 3:16 Jesus said "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

Let's not forget the small moves like bringing in Harrison, trading Kizer for Randall, signing Mitchell, etc. Those loom large now.

My biggest worry when he got here was that he would belly up to the bar and spend like a drunken sailor. The future looks brighter with the players he has brought here and we didn't sell the farm to get them.
Rome wasn't built in one day and he hasn't tried to ignore that... laying a strong foundation with many options and plenty of capital for next year and forward. I don't expect him to be perfect, I expect him to be mature and work with the talent around him in our scouting department and FO. I think we're in a great place after a mere nine months at the helm.
We need continuity, a change in culture, a winning mentality and a locker room full of talented players that "buy in". I think we're well on our way. We've parted ways with the bad-eggs and malcontents and have players that understand expectations and repercussions.
Good job buddy-boy.
HERE WE GO BROWNIES! HERE WE GO!!

I agree. I read recently where our present salary cap is something like only $700k less than it was last year. That's a feat considering how much talent was added in the off-season.

Besides bringing in real talent, I love the fact that Dorsey is establishing a culture of if you don't want to be here and work your ass off to help us win, we don't need you or want you, no matter who you are. No more Bowes or Britts. Good stuff.

I thought he deserves his own thread. He is the reason we are where we are. We need to thank our lucky stars he is our GM. The father of the new Browns! nice read In the Mayfield era begins thread...a link to the Mayfield draft thread was made.
The insults and outright ignorance on that thread by the hysterical posters over both the Mayfield pick and even more so against the Ward pick.
Dorsey just saved our Freaking Franchise... 2 great picks. and the Calloway, Avery and Harrison pickups were amazing too!
Let alone the FA pickups of Landry, Randell, Mitchell and unfortunately the one that got away Kendricks.
Man how good is Dorsey, way beyond my expectations. I mean I liked Sashi in the tear down and complete rebuilt but thank Goodness its Dorsey who is making the picks and signing with our cap space!

I agree 100% with everything you stated. And the quote you are looking for is my signature. I believed it from the moment he said it which is why it's been my signature ever since. The evidence is right in front of everyone. He said it. He was right and he's following through with doing what he said he would do.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.
