Oakland's secondary looks vulnerable and they have little to no pass rush ... thumbsup

I haven't watched much of the Raiders. I think it may be a tough game. They won't have much to go on when assessing Baker... other than he seems to throw darts and open windows at will.

I'm hoping that with a few extra days off, we put together a game-plan that takes advantage of Baker's strengths and is much more suitable to a Haley offense.

Hoping to see a stunning (2nd) debut by the rook, but prepared to accept some of the mistakes we should see. Quick passes sprayed all over the field lead to chunk yardage in the running game. Get up early with some magic from the kid and we can pound the rock to a victory.

Or just throw for 300yds and 4TD, that would be fine as well.

I believe he only took 5 snaps under center but these are only passing plays shown in the video. Definitely looks a lot more comfortable out of the shotgun. I wonder if we'll see this kind of percentage on Sunday.

I have not seen but a bit of the Raiders this year, so I do not know much about them except they looked like they rough house a good bit. BM should be able to throw on them and have success.
Embarrassed to admit that I have no clear idea in mind for a Haley offense specific game plan, mostly because of the QB change for one thing, but also how ineffective and inefficient TT seemed to be while he struggled, checked down, took some sacks and such.

Cannot wait to find out! Hopefully we pound with Chubb and Hyde. I would like to see Duke used like a Swiss Army knife and tried in more spots and definitely more touches. IMO he was under used last game, and so far overall. But offensively we need to succeed and not be cute. Pound and Grind!

Oakland is decently talented, but they have internal problems all over, Gruden is stuck in the 90's and most of the players are down on themselves right now.

Go get em Baker

I watched the Raiders game this past Sunday. I know that's just a snapshot but it was an entire game. What I saw was a secondary that can be exploited. The pass rush was non existent.

The most interesting part was how their team did late in the game. While the last game was the only one we won, we've been playing hard through all four quarters. Last year we always seemed to find a way to lose by letting down late in games. I haven't seen that this year.

Well, that's exactly what I saw last week with the Raiders. They just seemed to give up. They actually competed through about three quarters. Then the wind just went out of their sails. If we play four solid quarters of football the way we have been, we should win this game.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

This should be a very winnable game for us, in fact.....with Baker starting, all the drama going on in OAK, I would argue we SHOULD win this and get that elusive WIN STREAK going for us now!

There is basically no reason for Mayfield to be under center. Both of our primary running backs run the ball well out of the shotgun and the QB is used to playing out of that position.

Know we CAN, who the Hell knows if we WILL?

This is the backs-against-the-wall, must-win, game for them that we had against the Jets.

Not high on Gruden. I don't think he'll last. I mean Vermeil won a Super Bowl 15 years out of the game, so who knows...

The highest rates out of shotgun 2017:

DETROIT ~ 76%
CAROLINA ~ 72%
KANSAS CITY ~ 72%
PHILLY ~ 72%
CLEVELAND ~ 71%
PITTSBURGH ~ 71%

I expect that rate to go higher, but anything above 80% is very rare... except the Chip Kelly offense in San Francisco - 98%!

Good spot for him Sunday.

Have not been this excited for a non-opener in a while.

Mayfield finally has some actual game tape, and I am sure some adjustments will be made, but there is no doubt that defenses are going to have to back off a bit, which should allow our backs to maybe get a little room.

Baker made several good throws, and he threw them all over the field. High velocity when needed, touch when needed. The only real bad pass was that first throw to the end zone that should have been picked.

I really want to see us run well on Sunday.

For the first time in a while, I kinda felt like we had actual receiving corps between Landry, Callaway, and Higgins. All of them had big important catches during the comeback. Callaway may be able to feast, with teams worried about the running game, Landry being an absolute chain mover, and now a QB with a strong arm, who can also extend plays. He's got a real chance to shine in this offense.

I honestly want us to run it down their throats.

I want that to be the thing teams focus on, so it can make things just as easy for Baker.

our run game might have a better shot now IMO ... teams may be more reticent to stack the box and play so close

Agreed. thumbsup

Any successfull team in our AFC North or Central(Browns, Steelers, Bengals, Ravens, Oilers) ran the ball very well. Every one I can recall since the early 60's.

Always been a firm believer in a top running game. Always been a believer in "the run sets up the pass" as opposed to the other way around.

In our AFC NORTH? Imo absolute must.

But then again it sure opens up the passing game. rofl

It's very early and I hope all of it does not alienate his teammates.

I started a thread about reviewing the game and almost all of the talk centered around Baker. I wonder if the D guys will start to say.........."WTF?"

They were posted in one of the early threads shortly after we drafted him but quickly got lost in the shuffle. Good stuff. I watched them as they came out after the draft. Certainly changed my perception on the previous bill of goods sold by the media.

Which makes it even more important to come out and punch them in the mouth hard and early. With the intensity this team plays with I think we cando that, but it'll require Baker to step up early.

It'll be interesting to see our guys face off against a team that appears to be mentally and emotionally susceptible. I can't remember the last time we've done that.

I can easily see Gruden going 0-4. He went from a mediocre coach years ago to a bad coach and a worse GM today.

A careful review of Gruden's doings back in the day reveals that he was a typically mediocre NFL head coach who got lucky off of other people's successful team building.

And nowadays? Gruden is well past his sell by date. Worse, he's got a giant ego, hence his getting rid of Khalil Mack to show who's wearing the big boy pants in the Raiders organization. But big egos to the point of arrogance destroy teams - see Browns GM Mike Holmgren for an example.

Only a total fool like Mark Davis would sign Chucky to a ten year, $100 million contract. Incredible.

The only thing clever about Mark Davis is his hair cut.

Don't let that awful hair cut fool you. It is a red herring to distract you from the fact that Davis is bald and wears a cheap toupée.

We were down by two scores so a lot of spread from the shotgun. I'm sure we will be under center a lot as we will want to create a successful running game and he looks comfortable enough to do well with the play action passes that we will do.

Yep, Hyde has performed better running out of the shotgun.
