As much as the ending of the raiders game sucked, our new kicker - Greg whatshisface - hasn't missed yet.

Just wanted to give him props, for a job well done so far.

Probably just in case.

Joseph has done a good job, and his kickoffs have been boomed.

So far, so good with Joseph. I feel more confident when his name is called after these last few weeks.

I was nervous each time he came on the field the first week.
I was relaxed each time he came on the field in Oakland.

Even with the winning kick, I can't solidly get behind this guy yet. Makes me nervous each time he steps up to kick. That was the ugliest winning kick in the history of the NFL. BUT, it was a win, so he gets credit for that.

Hopefully we're on the look-out for someone better than him.

I'm really not impressed with the guy. He made the game winner. I'm happy.

The guy who deserves all the credit is Duke Johnson and Baker for getting the ball into range (and Duke for advancing it into better range).

There's too many kickers out of work for this guy to be an answer for any extended period of time

He makes the extra point, we don't need the FG. We need a kicker. A real kicker.

Did you guys forget that previous regime drafted Gonzalez last year and cut Parkey?

Sheesh..........I can't believe the negativity when we finally have something good going on.

When we sucked, most posters were saying "it's different this time," or "these guys get it."

We go from winning 1 game in 2 years to begin .500 after 5 games and people are complaining more than praising in regards to the organization.

Brown's fans kill me.

at this point I'd trade a 3rd rounder for a good kicker.

Definitely don't forget that one. Gonzalez was a mistake. At the time, it wasn't clear, but going with Gonzalez over Parkey was a mistake too.

I think people have bad memories of the day that Parkey blew the game against the Dolphins (or Tampa?) on his first game with the team. After that, he was pretty good.

There's nothing wrong with being happy about how the Browns are doing, but also seeing areas that certainly need improvement. Kicker is one of those. He won the game, which is wonderful. But he should have won the game. It shouldn't have been such a question.

The guy doesn't impress me. I gotta think there's better kickers out there than this guy.

you keep joseph until he can't make kicks in pressure situations.

that game winning FG should buy him another week.

He gave him the ball he kicked, just to check to see if it was properly inflated.

I get what you're saying, but I do not have faith in the guy. He missed an XP. He missed a FG, yeah I know it was long but that kick was so far left it may not have made it from XP distance. The one he made had a lot of doubt. The ball barely helicoptered over the cross bar and it was not a long kick by any stretch. If we can find a good replacement I am all for doing it now, and not have to wait until the guy we have doesn't make a game winning FG.

That game winner was a thing of beauty (if beauty is a lame ruptured duck wobbling as it knuckles through the uprights).

Glad we won, but Dorsey better keep looking IMO. A kicker on the PS? This is ludicrous. Not sold on this guy. If you are individual responsible for putting the invisible not-really-a-line- there on the field red stripey deal, what is this whatshisname's range? I mean is he strong and clean and sure from about, oh, 18 yards in?

This just in: Its remain ugly. Hats off to Ward!

I get it, but we gotta stop treating kickers like they’re servers at Applebee’s. One of the best kickers in the game missed 4 FGs yesterday. And while he’s been in the league awhile and certainly doesn’t deserve to be fired, it was certainly a fireable offense.

At the end of the day, he did what Gonzales couldnt: make the game winning FG.

The only person who needs to be replaced is Amos Jones.

I’d actually like to bring in a new kicker ... i really would ... i have zero faith in this kid ... even the game winner was low and deflected ...

But then as we were discussing in another thread yesterday ... i look around the league at all the struggling FG kickers ... extra points are now and adventure .... yesterday Crosby was horrendous ... Bailey missed two easy ones ... Boswell missed another extra point... and thats just the tip of the iceberg ....

So although you’d think there’d have to be someone better out there .... theres plenty of struggling or bad ones currently on nfl rosters ..

Here’s to hoping kid can get er done ... FG kickings all ready HURT US ENOUGH!!!!!

I hope we draft a real kicker. Kicker are the top or second highest points earner on the team behind only the QB. They are extremely important.

Parkey was OK but had a short range. Zane had long range but not so accurate. Joseph ... is really really bad but got lucky.

So we should treat ST coaches like Applebee supervisors? wink

My point is that if we can improve the position, do it now before it costs us a game. He has one job, kick the ball through the uprights. He has not shown he can consistently do that.

For all who taped the game. Please take a look at the Replay they gave us on that kick. The kid, picked his head up to look at the ball making his kick a little higher on the ball then wanted and causing that line drive knuckle ball barely over 13-15 feet off the ground.

That is a simple improvement that has to be made by our ST coach!
Somebody get the word to the kid...like IN GOLF, KEEP YOU HEAD DOWN! looking at the ball not up to see the result...the crowd will let you know soon enough how that kick went!

Please this doesn't take much to coach him up...please coach this kid up cause its all we got right now. There is nothing out there that will help.

We are paying for the Banner move of letting Dawson go.

Even Bailey is out there missing kicks.

Teach him UP!!!

LOL.

I think that had to do w/the pressure of the situation rather than kicking fundamentals.

We are talking professional here. The guy has a job to do. practice every day if need be its his JOB. repetition. Do I think I'm the only one who can see that? NO but I'm showing an obvious mistake that Replay shows. Its kicking 101. I could care less if its pressure or whatever. KEEP THE HEAD DOWN. I'm making him kick 100 balls in practice and if he picks his head up on one of them...I got a little old lady standing right there to kick him in the NUTS!...He'll get it...lol laugh

I am more concerned that the kick was partially blocked... according to MKC and the Ravens.

we need anew Special Teams coach... we are the wrong kind of special right now.

But how do you replace a special teams coach mid-season? Who do you replace him with?

The Amos Jones hiring was a huge mistake. He's worse than Teflon Tabor. But firing him would be compounding the mistake even more. We took a bad special teams coach and replaced him with an even worse special teams coach. But if we fire the even worse special teams coach we'll put whoever we replace him with in a situation where they'll be even worse.

No. We stick with it with Amos Jones and fire him at the end of the season. There's someone out there that's better. There's probably quite a few.

As for the kicker. That's a guy who can be replaced. He's not in charge of an entire unit with very few assistant coach qualified to replace him under him

They got very close to blocking other kicks also ...

Crosby hasn’t been a top kicker ever. Kickers are cheap and easy to replace. I wouldn’t be opposed to cutting guys until we find someone we are comfortable with.
