The Browns offense, looks inconsistent, unplanned, and not consistent.
The Browns defense looks like it is doing some things right, it seems the players have roles, and things are getting done, sometimes,
But the offense, looks like it is still trying to figure out what it does and how they do it.
How do you feel about the Browns offense?
I think the Browns offense looks like it should try something that works and repeat it, but instead they are trying aren't having any kind of rhythm,
And if they consistency don't have, the trouble finding points early in games, shows they don't, aren't trying to know how to beat the other teams, before they play; on offense.
Kind of like reading that.
What can they do to fix this offense.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.
I believe this offense should be built on the shoulder's of a Hyde/Chubb ground attack. This would set up a more consistent passing attack and help control the clock. Most possessions where we've truly engaged Hyde in the game plan has been successful, from what I see. It would take pressure off of Baker and keep defenses off balance. The Ravens really pinned their ears back today and went after Baker.
Today's offense was a bit weak. But I don't think we need any drastic changes. I like Todd Haley. My one big complaint was the reverse to Rod Streeter (a guy I've never even seen in the game so far). That seemed ridiculous.
That and gimmick reverses and what not on the goal-line. I wish someone would just tell Haley to hand the ball to Carlos Hyde and score a TD
Get rid of the reverse/sideways stuff, especially at either goal line .. save it for midfield
My other complaint: we get to OT and totally abandon the run (until Duke's huge run) ... STAY WITH IT in the crunch

I think Haley's done what he has always done. Once the team has the playbook down for a year, these so called gimmick plays that will work even better. I am really looking forward to seeing him be our OC for years to come along with Hue. I have a good buddy who said Haley does this stuff and we really lucked out getting him. He was pissed Pittsburgh fired him. we are a well balanced. .500 team and We could end up at 9-6-1 this year
we seem to be a very rhythm reliant offense .. when we have it rolling we are tough to stop .. hurry up in the gun, no pass rush, no substitutions, etc
we also run better that way as well.
I wouldn't be opposed to doing it more

I think your answer is in your post. I mentioned last week that it looks like Haley is still trying to figure out who the best player combinations are. WHO do we go to in game situations when we really need that first down or that big play? Who is that player (combo) that the fans know is coming, the announcers, the other team.. who is it that we still go to when everyone knows it's coming because there's such a high probability of success?
I don't think we've identified or established that just yet.
The biggest thing I like about Haley is that when something is working, he'll ride that horse until you stop it. We aren't likely to outsmart ourselves.
We just have to identify those player combos before that can happen.
I do believe we are making progress in that though.
On one hand I'm encouraged that we've been able to be competitive (and win!) even with the issues you aptly point out. That can last only so long however. My completely uneducated, unpaid for, non-professional analysis is that we have until the Bye to figure this out. We have the talent. We have the tenacity. Regardless of the W-L total at the end, I think success for this season hinges on establishing an identity. IMO it will become significantly more difficult to the establish that if we don't have that coming out of the BYE.
Oh, and no more reverses!

I agree. Absolutely stupid and dangerous, especially for field position and game situation. We need to get some of this gone overall. BM seems better out of the gun. He seems to do well with some middle of the field passes.
The flags are killing us. You want rhythm and momentum? Cut the flags. I think BM and our offense get immediately better. AND stop taking sacks. Start TT if that is the goal.

Haley has to learn to trust that he has a QB who can execute. I don't like the 3rd and 8 draw play.
I hate the 2nd and one Screen pass...a throw 5 yards behind the LOS when you have one of the most accurate passers on your team...ummmm how bout a 2 yard pass over the LOS not behind it to then become 3rd and 6 instead of first down.
I would also like some more 1st and goal under center and play action pass! Sometimes Haley get too smart for himself. Like the Reverse...you first have to actually have to have success to rely on the opposing D to over play that success and then you got a Reverse that will produce.
But what all have to remember. This is a NEW O, for all (except maybe Hubbard). This is now a new QB rookie who did not take one snap with the #1s until the 4th game. It will take time to click and flow.
The one thing that Mayfield did take reps with the ONES...two minute drill.
And low and behold look how efficient that looked.
We got talent, RB, WRs, TEs, most important QB...it will all come together. Show a little patience as fans regarding the O. We all know that the O takes time. Sometimes Haley wants to run before walking. Trust the rookie QB and execute the simple plays first...then once you got teams on their heal throw in your razzle dazzle play but remember each time you do...it has to be BIG TIME RESULTS!!! jmho

The problem is that Haley had complete control of the offense and didn't want to hear about changing things up. He kept talking about "the process."
.....My first and most obvious response would be he was the HEADCOACH!?? At this point throughout the summer on tv Hue made it quite clear to the coaching staff as well as little Timmy at home that this was his team and he was the head coach and it was going to be his way.
So if Hue was all about those comments and being serious then why when it mattered most did he fade away and blame people around him plus going public in the media with his "I want play calling back?"
I remember the episode Hue put those coaches at the table on notice that he was dealing with injury's and practices how he wanted to and when it was their team they could do it their way....
Soooooo what happened later when he was the head coach and he didn't like the offense????
I am beginning to see why Haley and Hue were fired. They were both setting each other up to fail and each looking like the good guy for their bosses when it all hit the fan. I think Hue called on his bet too soon but Haley wasn't smart enough to get out of his own way the next week when he doubled down on stupid himself.
Kitchens has been the biggest change. He has added more play action, more hand off pitch options, quicker developing plays, and put the offense closer to what Baker ran in college. Look at the Pittsburgh game. Baker taking too many hits. Every time Browns went to 5 wide, a LB blitzed untouched. This was not the RT's fault, this was the scheme, and Pitt knew Haley inside and out.
