Just got back from Best Buy with mine but I'm not going to play it until tonight when I have some quiet in the house. There were 6 people in line at best buy with me and everyone of them had a copy of GOW. Its gotten a ton of great reviews; I will post later after I play it. <img src="/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif" alt="" />

Cool game; its a must have. Is it as good as Halo? Time will tell, but its a load of fun and the gameplay is great. I haven't played any multiplayer yet so I can only comment on the single player. The graphics are superb! Top notch lighting and shadows are great and the level of detail is unlike any game I have seen, even on a PC. The controls are a little different than anything else I have played but not hard to control at all.

They story line is awsome as well; kind of Halo like IMO. It is defintly a rated M game with the blood and gore and throw in a few F bombs completes the rating. If anyone is hesitating buying this game, don't, go buy it and enjoy!

I got it yesterday. Finished the first level. (so to say)

Game is very good. Visuals are great. Intensity is high. Its not a "run n gun" game. If you try that, plan on getting killed.

Havent tried the multiplayer, but I can see how that would be tactical/run & gun which equals fun.

Great game, highly recommended.

I picked up GOW along with my new/replacement 360 today. It's pretty awesome so far.

I heard that the game is kind of short though? Like only 8 hrs from start to finish?

Ive heard its about 10 on Casual, 15ish on Hardcore. If you beat it on Hardcore, you unlock INSANE which Ive read is impossible, haha.

10-15hrs is about the norm for a shooter. There's only so much they can have you do before people complain "the game is too drawn out and the ending sucked!"

Im about 1/2 way through, and the game is awesome. Graphics are a 10 out of 10. Music is great. Gameplay a 9.

Havent done online yet, as Ive been playing Gears and the new Tony Hawk. But, Ive heard online is even better.

Spooky, Hurricane, and I have been playing the online multiplayer and it is pretty awesome. The game is well worth getting for those who haven't decided on whether or not to get it yet.

Quick question for you guys.I know nothing about games,or systems for that matter,and my son has just informed me that he wants Gears of War for x-mas.I'll assume that would also mean he needs the xbox 360 console?As I research this,I am hearing about an overheating and shutdown problem with the 360.If I remember correctly,his original xbox had alot of problems,until I finally threw it in the weeds and got him a PS2,which he is having trouble with now.
So,my question is,is the 360 a POS,or just having heat problems,and can that be corrected?
Oh,and please don't get too technical on me.

Ive had it since it came out and haven't had any problems... That being said I think Bruticus had to replace his for some reason. I bought the extended warranty through Bestbuy when I bought mine just in case; but I always buy it when I purchase new electronics.

I don't know how old your son is but GoW is pretty graphic and has plenty of adult language...including numerous "F" bombs.

You would be ok with the 360 IMO; I really haven't heard of that many problems. Rumor is there was a defect in a batch of early 360's that didn't allow the air to flow correctly.

The first release of the Xbox 360 had a few issues. However, any system that just comes out is bound to have a few bugs. The ones they are releasing now don't have any technical issues.

The 360, to me, is by far the best bang for your buck. The PS3 is a great system, but is $600. The Wii I'm sure is good ($200 I believe), but is as powerful as the original Xbox.

The 360 has a MUCH better online system than any of the other systems. They also release game demos that you can download for free. (Trust me, saves $$$ on not buying games that are no good. ie: Superman that comes out today. I wouldve bought that game for sure, but the demo was HORRIBLE. Saved me $60.)

360 also releases Arcade games and Arcade Classics (Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat etc) that you can purchase for like $6.

To me, a 360 is well worth the investment of $400. And Gears of War is a great game to start playing w/ the system. The other poster (sorry, didnt grab your name buddy) makes a good point: the language isnt suitable for a youngster.

I didn't like the ending at all really. It definately set up a Gears II though which is good. But right now we are in the process of going through the game on INSANE mode with two players. It is definately hard but it can be done. We got through the first act on that. I wasn't a big fan of this game at all until I got on INSANE mode. It's just too unrealistic for me. I'd get in 4-5 headshots in on a guy and he's still alive, he shoots me once in the lower body and I'd be dead. The game will actually be a trilogy.

When you talk about getting shot once in the leg and dying, is that in single player? (Insane?) or Multiplayer? Ive never had that happen, ever.

the Co-Op in Insane mode.....so thus, it's probably because we are in Insane mode, lol.

If you have an Ebgames or Gamestop in your area you should get it this friday. They have a deal where you get the premium 360 console, Call of Duty 2, and the product replacement plan for $399, so your getting the game and warranty free.

Only one PS3 was mine, the other two are my roommates. All three of us went. My PS3 paid off my credit card and bought me a 360 <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> I'm already out of cash but it was worth it

It's not the Xbox Live, that thing is pretty cheap, it's the cable internet to get online that I can't afford. We have a high speed connection in our room already but it doesn't support XBox Live at all so we can't just mooch off of that.
