Its all about the PRESSURE BRO ... u can have him do it 10.000 times in practice and it won’t help ... u can’t ASSIMILATE PRESSURE ...

I was trying to be nice ... heck wth it ... u wanna dance ... i’ll Take the gloves off ...

DUDE CHOKED ... plain and simple ... kicking is REPITITION and WHERE’S YOUR HEAD AT ...

His was up his REAR END ...

HE CHOKED BRO ..

The miss to end regulation ... it NEVER had a chance ... he kicked it 10 yards wide ... thats a MECHANICAL FLAW not a miss ... HE CHOKED ...

Same with the game winner ... as u noted he picked his head up ... CHOKE ...

The extra point he simply pushed right ... thats a miss ...

I dont trust dude ... but like i said .... there’s a lot of FG kickers struggling right now ...

I watched that kick with my hand covering my eyes, but I peeked through my fingers.

Greg Zuerlein, the Rams' excellent PK is supposed to be back this week from a groin injury, which means Cairo Santos should be available. Santos is a career 84% FG kicker (90/107), with 7 of 13 being 50+ yards.

They tried him out earlier in kickoff with Joseph and some other kicker. For some inexplicable reason, they chose Joseph over Santos.

I found it odd that we chose Joseph to begin with

I think I buy Santos a ticket yesterday and take it out of joseph's pay.

It isn't the kickers fault the line allows penetration superconfused

My understanding is that the winning kick was not blocked. He just skulled it.

Well, in that case, we should still sign Santos.

We are trying to find a guy who can grow with the team, and who can be here for a long, long time.

As a rookie, Phil Dawson missed an XP, and made only 3-5 from 30-39, and 3-5 from 40-49. (66.7% overall on FGs) He didn't even attempt a FG from 50+ until his 4th season.

Santos isn't exactly Methuselah; he's 26. Joseph is 24. But Santos is game-tested, with a pretty good stat line.

127/132 on PAT's in his career, including Sunday's miss. That's 96.2%, if you're keeping score at home.

My guess would be leg strength .... Santos does not have a strong leg ...

So although you’d think there’d have to be someone better out there .... theres plenty of struggling or bad ones currently on nfl rosters ..

LOL.. was talking about this yesterday. It's understandable considering the complexity of the position that there aren't a ton of great QBs out there who can read defenses, react under pressure, throw accurately, etc..

But one would think that with hundreds and hundreds of thousands of kids in youth soccer over the last couple decades that it wouldn't be that difficult to find 32 people who could make a 40 yard FG...

That is literally your entire job, the only thing you have to train for and practice week in and week out..

If we learned anything from Phil Dawson's time in Cleveland.. give me the guy that is reliable from 45 in every single day over the guy who might just make one from 60 some day...

What is he at the new distance? ... any of those from the old distance is statistically irrelivent ...

Not saying i wouldn’t prefer him over Joseph ... i don’t trust Joseph ... but the stat u threw out there may not be relevant if it includes kicks from the shorter distance ...

22/28 on kicks between 40-49 yards. 7/13 on kicks 50-and-over yards. Career long is 54. He may not be Janikowski but he sounds strong enough to me.

I’m with u ... i have no clue why ... just like my QB’s .. i’ll Take ACCURACY all day long ...

Speaking of Phil ... pretty sure he missed an XP and a chip shot FG sunday ...

I agree with Grammatical ... this new xp distance has creeped into everyones head ....

what other explanation could there be for great kickers to turn to mush for a week or a stretch or even a season and all of a sudden theres either not enough good kickers to go around or theres a heck of a lot of unemployed good kickers ...

This is unexplainable ... *shrugs* ...

Lets just hope we can find ours as it seems to be getting tougher and tougher to do ...

His legs not as good as Joseph’s ...

I could be wrong .. thats was just my guess ... i have NO CLUE why we chose him over Santos ... i think we brought in a 3rd guy for that comp also ... think it was Walsh ..

I wanted Santos out of the group ...

Joseph must have been 100% or real close at his tryout ... he did sumptin to impress the brass ... pretty sure he didnt hit no knucklers or miss any XP’s at that ... *L* ....

Santos will be free again when Zuerlein comes back for the lambs ... maybe that will coincide with us getting rid of Joseph ... *L* ...

Letshope the kid proves us all wrong ...

GOOD LUCK DAWG ... WE NEED U BUDDY ... thumbsup

I'm kinda getting a chuckle out of the Dawson comments,, I remember back then how badly fans wanted him gone...lol

Maybe Santos preferred the Rams? Or waiting to see what else comes up (like the Rams). We've only very recently become a destination for the better FAs out there.

We look like a much better destination today than we did after the Saints game.

So it turns out Zane Gonzalez has a torn groin during the Saints game.

Makes sense why he was missing so badly...and all he got for an injury settlement was 35k.

He probably wanted to try and make another team once healthy, as opposed to sitting on IR all year long.

Browns worked out multiple kickers Saturday as part of a specialists workout. Specialists working out for them included Sam Ficken, Marshall Koehn, Younghoe Koo, Jon Brown and Tyler Rausa.

That's quite an uninspiring list. In our search for someone who could make a simple extra point after a touchdown, is it a prerequisite that they be someone nobody has ever heard of? That is, as opposed to someone who has, you know, MADE KICKS in a NFL game? Good grief.

Man, do we not believe in looking at experienced kickers

I don't even know why we're looking. Greg Joseph is now 11/13 after nailing that 51 yarder. One blocked, one missed from over 50.

Not exactly sure if we're going to cut the kicker every time he misses. Interesting strategy, I guess.

I knew a younghoe in Vegas once. I mean she was legal and all, but still quite young.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

My theory on kickers is you need to pick one and stick with him for a while, and while is more than a few missed kicks.

We had Caleb Sturgis and Cody Parkey and both are now established. I am sure Gonzo will latch on somewhere.

If they have demonstrated the ability to be accurate in college and have the leg, they will grow out of the NFL jitters. The pressure is the same, the crowd size is maybe even bigger in college. Kicking is kicking. See the placement and strike the ball. For a kicker it is snap, hold, kick. That is your total focus.

It would have been easy to cut Phil 24 years ago. We stuck with him and he turned out OK.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

Yeah, I do think they all go through spells ... especially early

Everyone is just saying that Williams is aggressive in his 2-point plays but the reality is, he feels we stand as good a chance of making the 2-points as we do the kick.

I don't disagree in theory, but I also think "the yips" is a real thing. Some of these guys get 'em and its over for them.

I don't agree.

"Yips" is a normal nervous twitch that hits golfers in putting once they hit their 40's or so...not a 23 year old kicker. They just have to get past the moment, just like young golfers learn how to win.

Joseph is 11-13 in FG's 8-8 inside the 40 2-3 40-50 and 1-2 50+ ...

Mike Vanderjagt, Nick Folk, and Blair Walsh had the yips as kickers, and it cost them their jobs. In baseball, Steve Sax and Chuck Knoblauch found that they could no longer make the throw from 2B to 1B; Steve Blass and Ricky Ankiel were successful pitchers who suddenly couldn't throw a strike if their lives depended upon it. Catcher, Jarrod Saltalamachia stopped being able to throw the ball back to the pitcher accurately after a pitch. Its definitely not just a golf phenomenom.
