I’m interested in how he rules in this one. Will he let the crooked scum of DC slink away from the law?

(I had posted this earlier in a different thread.)
Please note.... I looked up Gamble v. U.S., No. 17-646 but don’t know enough about the law to know if this statement is valid. I’m only putting it out there so that maybe others that read legalese better than myself can verify the conjecture.

“The reason for the rush: "So it is now very clear why the GOP is so desperate to get Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court by next month that they would schedule a vote before hearing from Dr. Ford or any other witness that comes forward. BIG STAKES HERE...

if you check out SCOTUS blog, you will see that on next month's docket is: Gamble v. U.S., No. 17-646. Issue(s): Whether the Supreme Court should overrule the "separate sovereigns" exception to the double jeopardy clause. They are desperate. The plan was to appoint Kavanaugh early this week so that he would be seated in time for this ruling.

It was in the bag. Saves everyone involved from state charges. Not only Trump but all políticos who were knowingly enriched by the $$$ funneled through the NRA into the coffers of McConnell, Graham, Rubio, Ryan, etc. So if Kavanaugh gets appointed he’d effectively vote to stop states from charging Trump with anything!”

Thoughts?

It will be interesting seeing the right trying to explain his vote on this either way. If he opposes, he will draw the right's ire and if he overturns he will draw the left's. One will prove him a political shill, the other will give him a shred of credibility that he can use to rebuild an impartial reputation that eludes him.

Kavanaugh was always drinking. Supporting underage drinking is deplorable. And I’m betting it wasn’t just brewski’s

Technically he wasn’t ALWAYS drinking. He and his bros were butt funneling beers...ie boofing. He admitted it. Then his followers gobbled up the lie that boofing meant anal sex.

He might still do that, not like it would show up on a breathalyzer or anyone would smell alcohol on his breath. Only an alcoholic would consider putting alcohol there IMHO.

Please explain, are there not elections coming up? So you stall the nomination for the next few months with an investigation, take over some seats, and deny him then.

With the current seats up in the Senate, I find the idea of a Democratic Majority Senate after the 18 midterms to be horribly optimistic, regardless of what the polling is showing.

What willi said. And also, it's not like it was a foregone conclusion that every Republican was going to vote yay and every Democrat was going to vote nay.

In fact, (D) Joe Manchin voted yes and (R) Lisa Murkowski voted no.

They only had to flip Joe Manchin, a Democrat, and one other Republican to stop the nomination in its tracks. Or as willi said, just delay long enough until they hoped to get more Democrats in the Senate.

Doesn't seem like an impossibility to me. Improbable, perhaps.

I don't think they flip the senate, in fact I think they lose a seat or two....

Let me make this simpler then. Only the GOP and Trump could approve an FBI investigation. Only they could dictate its length and scope. Only they had the votes needed to confirm or deny him the appointment.

You see, the only possible way the Dems could postpone a vote was if the GOP allowed it. It's why I can't see how you could possibly buy into such a theory that was a totally impossible scenario to begin with.

I'm not disagreeing that may not have been the Dems strategy. It very well may have been. But the fact remains the only party that had the power to let that happen was the GOP. The Dems had zero control for that to ever happen. And it was Flake who forced the investigation. While you may not feel he's "your type of Republican, he's certainly not a Democrat.

Had he not have demanded an investigation, there never would have been one. Blaming that on the Democrats sounds pretty foolish to me.

They have had now 7 investigations Pit. What do you want.

Suppose the Dems paid another Democratic activist to lie and say she was molested or saw Ford molested by Kav. and lets be honest and admit the Democrats and Libs are not above that. You would believe them. OCD calls us sheep but only a Lib would follow along with a woman with no clear memory, witnesses,or proof that anything happened and Pit you might not believe it but women can lie as readily as men.

Why are you asking me what I want? I didn't say I wanted anything. And there is ZERO evidence saying she was paid off. That's just some made up BS.

My one and only point is that trying to blame the Dems, who didn't have the votes to defeat the Kavanaugh nomination or to force an FBI investigation is stupid.

I laid it out very plainly. So either you can bring some facts to the table about the actual points made or you can't.

1. The Dems had zero power to force an investigation. Only Trump had the power to order an FBI investigation.

2. It was Jeff Flake, a Republican who forced the White House to ask for the F.B.I. investigation because without that investigation they were afraid that neither he nor Susan Collins would approve Kavanaugh.

So my only point is that the GOP is kicking and screaming this all tha Dems fault when the GOP held all of the power the entire time.

Please leave me out of "you people". My only thought on the subject was that it would only serve to help the image of the GOP among women if they decided on their own, without the type of pressure that was applied by ,to have an FBI investigation. I think their image among most women isn't that good.

Saying they took the allegations seriously and wanted an FBI investigations for the sake of transparency would have been a positive thing to do from a political standpoint.

I don't speak for those who say a man is guilty just because he's accused of something. That's not me. I do think it's a sensitive subject and that the GOP could go a very long way in promoting their image in that department. Not that I care about their image. And from who they elected president, when it come to morality or family values, neither do they.

Kavanaugh accuser referred to DOJ for false statements, Grassley’s office announces

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley on Friday referred a woman who'd accused Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh of raping her “several times” in the backseat of a car to the Justice Department for “materially false statements” and “obstruction.”

“Given her relatively unique name, Committee investigators were able to use open-source research to locate Ms. Munro-Leighton and determine that she: (1) is a left-wing activist; (2) is decades older than Judge Kavanaugh; and (3) lives in neither the Washington DC area nor California, but in Kentucky,” Grassley’s office wrote.

“Under questioning by Committee investigators, Ms. Munro-Leighton admitted, contrary to her prior claims, that she had not been sexually assaulted by ... Kavanaugh and was not the author of the original 'Jane Doe’ letter,” Grassley’s office wrote in a Friday referral to the DOJ.

“When directly asked by Committee investigators if she was, as she had claimed, the ‘Jane Doe’ from Oceanside California who had sent the letter to Senator Harris, she admitted: ‘No, no, no. I did that as a way to grab attention. I am not Jane Doe . . . but I did read Jane Doe’s letter. I read the transcript of the call to your Committee. . . . I saw it online. It was news.”

“In short, during the Committee’s time-sensitive investigation of allegations against Judge Kavanaugh, Ms. Munro-Leighton submitted a fabricated allegation, which diverted Committee resources. When questioned by Committee investigators she admitted it was false, a ‘ploy,’ and a ‘tactic,’” Grassley’s office wrote. “She was opposed to Judge Kavanaugh’s confirmation.”

I love how Cons can't go a day without posting the same news story twice. I know many of you guys have smoke coming from your ears, as your last few brain cells are frantically rubbing together so you can think of something to say, but please read the forum instead of using it as a Fox News RSS feed.

Who did I insult? I know in today's heavily politically correct world, everybody is killing each other to play the biggest victim, but that victim mentality does not fly around me. Miss me with that stuff. People should still be held personally reasonable of themselves, which I know Cons don't believe in. For example, you would rather blame me for this forum's ettiquete than look inwards. It's sad. You should attempt to be the change in the world you want to see. Instead you try to create a witch Hunt. That's don't to be nice or share a community with people who are openly hostile to this country and our ideals. I cannot remain civil when I see these people advocate for nuking the middle East, shooting asylum seekers, and blaming the Jewish globalists for invasions. These are the same actions that Nazis used. My grandparents didn't liberate Europe just so that fascism could rise in the United States.

So yes, I fully am aware where I stand on this forum, but do you? Do you even realize that you have the same news diet that both the Pittsburgh shooter and the Florida pipe bomb guy? Do you think that you yourself are also not part of the DT problem? How much fake news have you posted about?

Maybe instead of worrying if other people are being civil, you should really worry about yourself being uncivil first.

When you stop trying to get me banned and reporting my posts to the refs, you guys should actually all read the forum rules.

DUPLICATE THREADSThere are thousands of registered users on our message boards, and a great deal of information is shared here. Newspaper articles, photographs, links to sites, etc. Prior to posting a news item, or starting a new discussion thread, PLEASE take the time to scan the current topics on the board to see if the news item has already been posted; or, if it's a discussion you wish to have on a certain subject, look and see if there isn't already a thread that you can post your thoughts on the related subject. We are only given so much space on the server, and duplicate threads use up space, causing us to "purge" the boards more often then we like to. Posts that are deemed to be duplicative in nature by the moderators WILL be deleted upon discovery

Not only is that rule my favorite on DT, but it is the one that makes the most sense. Anyway, I look forward to having this conversation again after you all post the same Fox news article today. After all, none of you want to discuss any of these topics, but just want to shout down at people.

So please keep reporting my posts as offensive content and continue to waste the mods' time. It's funny to watch you guys rest all your hopes on getting me banned.

Well I didn't report you CHS cause I don't care enough to do so. I don't think I ever have in fact. I mean there are so many offensive posts made lately that it's just par for course anymore.

Still when your write, " I know many of you guys have smoke coming from your ears, as your last few brain cells are frantically rubbing together so you can think of something to say," and say who did you insult ... I mean come on man. Calling people stupid and brain dead just because they get news from a source different than your own is insulting people.

So knock off the fake innocence act. You enjoy insulting people constantly so don't be offended when people get sick and tired of it. I mean I get that libs have forgotten how to be adults and have civil conversations but instead have insult contests and screaming matches because if they scream loud enough they think the voice of reason will quiet down so they can bully their way into silencing those they disagree with but it's not going to work anymore because real Americans understand they can't sit around and take it anymore.

Everyone has a voice that has a right to be heard. Especially the ones we don't agree with. Jordan Peterson is absolutely right in that you need crazy from both sides to scare people back to the middle again. It's like driving down one of those west virginia mountain roads where you know if you drift too much you will fall off and die. Politics is like that too. When people get too extreme it wakes everyone back up and says OH CHIT that has GOT TO STOP. The left has gotten that way and that is why moderates are starting to stand up to them and say enough is enough.

Why Fox news? BECAUSE all other news stations are extremely liberal. It's why their rating are plummeting because people are tired of the same old whine. The more beligerant the left becomes the more it forced moderates to the other side of the road to avoid falling off. After Trump has his 8 years the right will probably go too far and you will have the same effect happening to conservatives because they will go too far too and balance will again need to be restored.

I hate both parties so feel free to hate me all you like =P

You can't fix stupid but you can destroy ignorance. When you destroy ignorance you remove the justifications for evil. If you want to destroy evil then educate our people. Hate is a tool of the stupid to deal with what they can't understand.

Those who were involved in the attempted Kavanaugh lynching are now trying to deflect attention away from their guilt.

Shame!

Trump challenges Democrats after Kavanaugh accuser admits to making false rape accusation: ‘Where are the Dems on this?’

President Trump on Saturday challenged Democrats to speak up after Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee referred a woman to the FBI for “materially false statements” when she accused Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh of raping her.

“A vicious accuser of Justice Kavanaugh has just admitted that she was lying, her story was totally made up, or FAKE!” he tweeted. “Can you imagine if he didn’t become a Justice of the Supreme Court because of her disgusting False Statements. What about the others? Where are the Dems on this?”

I don't think I mentioned you reporting me. So thank you for the unsolicited information rolleyes

"Calling people stupid and brain dead just because they get news from a source different than your own is insulting people."

This is the victim mentality that Cons have now. They need to become victims so they can create this moral authority so they can try to bully people. I've never called someone stupid for consuming Fox News, I've never made that assertion. Hell, there are many Fox News readers that I interact with on here daily and I have NEVER questioned their intelligence. You take my comments towards three or so individuals who repeatedly repost articles, mainly to drown out good conversations. I know martyrdom is a critical piece of modern conservatives philosophy (just look at Jordan Peterson and Ben Shapiro), but you need to stop always seeing yourself as a victim. If you aren't mentioned then don't assume you are being talked about. It's very vain.

There is no fake innocent act. I know what I'm doing on this forum. I wish I didn't have to, but someone needs to speak up against your guys' hate speech. You don't like to see my comments? I get it. I don't like to make them. However, I'm not going to sit idly by while you blame the Jews and blacks for all your problems. I don't need to see your fake news about Obama and Soros.

Most people are realizing they can't sit idly by. Because they now understand that the right is killing people because they're being worked into such a frenzy. And we see that everyday here. Just look at your calls for violence against Muslims over the years. You're a religious fundamentalist, you're not a moderate lol.

Why Fox News? Because they know their audience. People are going to keep going to things that make them feel good. Especially when they can passively take in that feeling. CNN and MSNBC do the same thing. You guys are all mirror images of each other. If you guys wanted to pretend this stuff is about civility and respect then you wouldn't be posting stuff from gateway pundit, Breitbart or Drudge as well as Fox. And I hate CNN and MSNBC and have criticized them just as harshly as Fox News. I'm also deeply critical of the Democrats and I constantly call them Republicans. I'm the only one who is critical of both sides, not equally, but quite often.

I also don't hate anyone on this forum. At worst we should feel indifferent about each other. This is the internet and while it's a small community, it's large enough so you don't have to establish your self worth on the ugly disagreements you've had with, hopefully, just a handful of people. If you're having a hard time with that, just put the person on ignore. It's a great feature on this forum, even though it's broken.

GOPers can't just take a win and get over anything. Always have to be angry, then wonder why nobody is civil with them. Kavanaugh was like a dry sandpaper suppository to the left, especially after his victims came out against him. A thorough investigation may have found him innocent of all allegations, but since the GOP rammed him through he will always carry the stain and stigma of being a rapist and drunk.

That's all on McConnell and Trump, period.

Justice and doing the right thing is not a win for the GOPers, it is the right thing to do, for all society.

The Left, with their lies and manipulation of the system is a loss for all America.

This apparently needs to be pointed out and hammered on for some to understand and change their ways.
