As a Kanye Stan who has been studying him extensively for the past 19 years, he's clearly manic depressive with schizoaffective like all great artists.
I always thought he was nothing more than an egotistical, out of control crazy man. Swish, in another thread, challenged me to give the guy a listen and hear what he actually had to say.
Swish gave me some links to interviews where Kanye described his life as a Black entertainer and discussed his views on the plight of the African American in today's world.
I began to listen to the first link and the things Kanye had to say hit a nerve. I spent hours, yes hours, a long time Conservative Republican listening for hours to this guy I had dismissed as a nut.
I came away with my eyes wide open and a newfound respect for Kanye and the plight of the African American in today's society. He is a flamboyant and brilliant deep thinker. He is not afraid in the face of the powers that be, to step up and out of what they consider to be "his place" to share his views. He gets it. I find it to be a real shame that today's political climate has people tuning him out.
