just an incredibly bad start here

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

Figured this would be an easy win and I would get a few things done around the house while the game is on.

So much for that...

Today had all the makings of a major upset. You could almost feel it coming. But, kudos to the Buckeyes for hanging on and making plays when they had to. Still, the number of chunk-plays the defense gives up is a worry. I know they miss Bosa, but jeez those big gainers get annoying.

For some reason it takes the defense a half to get itself together superconfused

I know it’s fun to see the Bucks crush lesser opponents but games like this harden teams. Today the team had to play a full 60 minutes to secure their win. No blowout means no sideline laughing, joking around, not focusing on the game, etc. It was a full 60 minutes of ‘you better figure it out’ football.
We weren’t running the ball well today at all. We put the game on Haskins’ back and he did what he needed. In the end throwing the dagger TD to guarantee the win.
There’s a lot to take to the film room from this game. Let’s hope it’s put to use and the players respond.
I’m not giving up hope on this team running the table. Especially if Bosa comes back.
The 2002 National Champiinship team played a lot of close games leading up to the big game. They learned how to battle, claw, and do what it took to win. Let’s hope this year’s team does the same.

We manage games —as in manage to win most of them. Prince was a real liability. Our running game as called was lousy. We may have our own Heisman guy.

We need to get better for some rough ones coming. Hats off to the Gophers. They played us tough and smart, and outplayed us some.

Penn St losing to Mich St hurts OSU, at least until we defeat Mich St. (Do we play MSU?)

On the other hand, #2 Georgia lost to #13 LSU, so the Buckeyes should move to #2.

j/c:

--We will almost certainly be number 2 in the country this week, yet we have a guy saying our team "blows." LOL

--Haskins is very accurate and has a quick release. He needs to improve when pressured, but this guy is putting up historic numbers. He is a legit Heisman candidate.

--Our WRs are very quick and they are difference makers. They also block well.

--Our OL really struggled. Prince looked like he had a hang-over.

--Our DBs take terrible angles to the ball.

--Our LBers look slow and are easily blocked.

--The DL is talented, but they had a rough game.

watching Wisconsin ... something about them is always unorthodox to defend. They are physical upfront, have speed, and have a gutsy QB (I don't think he's good but he always makes plays)

Ohio State DE Nick Bosa leaving school to concentrate on draft

Ohio State star defensive end Nick Bosa is withdrawing from school to concentrate on rehabilitation before the NFL draft, the school said in a statement Tuesday.

The junior All-American sustained a core muscle injury in the third game of the season and underwent surgery Sept. 20. There was no timetable for his return.

ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. has Bosa as the No. 1 prospect on his latest big board rankings.

"I was hopeful that Nick would be able to return to play again for us," Ohio State coach Urban Meyer said in a statement. "I know this was an extremely difficult and emotional decision for Nick and his family, and I wish him well as he moves on to get himself 100 percent healthy and ready for his next chapter. I want to thank Nick for the remarkable efforts he gave for this program. He is a first-class young man who we have been honored to coach."

Bosa is the brother of Joey Bosa, who was also an All-America defensive lineman at Ohio State. He was taken with the No. 3 selection in the 2016 draft by the Chargers.

Seems a bit premature, oh well. $$$ is much more important than "team" in this day and age, and to be honest, I can't really blame him.

The NCAA rakes in billions while the players risk injury that could ruin their career. Is it the NCAA who ignores protecting their players or the players who have no real choice but to protect themselves?

Without Bosa this may be a 2 loss football team. He was our one true superstar. Unless Chase Young can elevate his game, which to this point he has been good but not great, they likely won't be a playoff team.

Our linebackers aside from Harrison are unathletic and terrible. Safeties are bad.

Darn, that's some bad news there. It actually reminds me of when Denzel Ward sat out of the non-playoff bowl game last year for the same reason.

The situations are different (Bosa is sitting out longer, but also coming off a surgery), but it's hard to blame the players. Ward was an early first round pick and Bosa figures to be as well.

Take Ward's contract: 4 years, $29.17 million, fully guaranteed.

I get competition, love of the game, and devotion to the team, believe me. But it's easy to talk about all that when it's not your $29 million at stake.

Yep. Still doesn't change the fact. The NFL rakes in billions while it's multimillionaires run around crying about how things aren't fair too. Nothing's fair, it's all about the next paycheck. That's why the chick in Pittsburgh is sitting on the sideline talking about how good he is.

As I said (but you didn't want to include), I can't really blame him. My biggest gripe is that it's a bit premature, couldn't he just see how the rehab is going and see if he can come back and play in a possible playoff game or against Michigan? Nope. "Gotta get ready for the draft". Buh-bye Nick.

I think he's playing it smart. Why risk yet another possible injury that close to the draft and possibly hurt your draft status even further at that point?

And I agree with you that things aren't fair. College players get zero compensation for playing NCAA football in comparison to what their schools get. In exchange the players get the option of leaving school early and dedicating themselves to the draft process just like Bosa is doing.

Yet some fans point the finger at the players for not putting the team first. Seems like they yell the loudest when they don't feel things are fair.

I hear you. I see both sides of it really. As a Buckeye fan, I'm disappointed and wonder why he can't at least take a wait and see approach, but it's also not my livelihood at stake. It is what it is. It was a pleasure watching Nick and his brother at OSU-- they were tremendous players.

This is probably something we will see more of in college football.

Zero compensation? Like, an education? Best food, monthly stipends?

I do get it though. He's doing what he thinks is best for him.

Come back, this year, or next year, risk a career ending injury ?

On the other hand, does he have enough on tape in basically 1 year plus a couple of games? Maybe.

He's also injured. His name, due to his brother, who is also injured (was, anyway), will the injuries affect his draft status?

Hey, he's gotta do what he has to do. Can't fault him for that, at all.

There were a lot of players, and yes, fans, counting on him. Pleasing them, I guess, isn't his first priority. And I mean that. (cause, say he comes back this year, gets a career ending injury..........his team, and the fans, aren't going to take care of him financially)

The biggest stink here? And this is from a biased, fan point of view: It's going to hurt the Buckeyes.

Yet Kiper currently has him as #1 on his board.

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2796...s-no-1-prospect

I know that doesn't really mean much but given the information he has, I'd say Bosa feels he's in a pretty good position right now.

Bosa will be the first non-QB picked.
