I wasn't even tracking that (I voted, but didn't put it together week-to-week). Crazy when you just list it out like that.

Didn't think this question warranted it's own thread so I figured this would be as good as any place to put it.
Going back to the the draft, let's presume it goes as follows:
#1 Browns - Mayfield #2 Giants - Rosen #3 Jets - Darnold
2 questions:
1, Who would Dorsey have selected? Ward or Barkley
2, Most of us would have taken Barkley but, knowing what we know now, would you take ward or Barkley
Am I perfect? No Am I trying to be a better person? Also no

Wow. JUST talking about this with my son 10 minutes ago. We decided the gods were smiling down on us and made the Giants take Barkley. Knowing what we know now, I take Ward. I love Barkley, but this team is much better in the long run with Ward. The scrutiny on the FO, by talking heads and fans alike, would be huge if we chose Ward over Chubb and Barkley on draft day. The scrutiny on Ward wouldn't be much better. I'm glad things worked out the way they did. I think Dorsey would have felt forced to take Barkley.

Dorsey doesn't seem like a guy who would feel forced to take anybody.

Dorsey doesn't seem like a guy who would feel forced to take anybody. Not forced meaning he didn't want him but felt obligated, forced meaning he loved them both and couldn't pass on what seemed to be a generational talent because Ward was a greater need.

Rumors were that we loved Ward way back in February (Zeguara especially reported it) ... but a lot of people took it as smoke screen
I think we really loved both guys we took (obviously)

Gotcha, I would love to know what Dorsey would have done but obviously we'll never know. If he would have taken Ward over Barkley he would have been crucified by fans and the media.

I would guess we would always pick Ward over Barkley as a stud CB is harder to come by / worth more than a stud RB.
I mean, we have three decent RB and let one go, We arent hurting in that position.

At this point I trust whatever Dorsey wants to do. He's got an A+ from me. I've hated some of his moves but the overall improvement has been night and day even with the losses.

Get some more Buckeyes in the future. Props to Ward! Hope his run continues. This is exciting to watch a possible ROY candidate on defense. Just mind boggling.

I love the ward pick. But I guess I still have battered browns syndrome.
I can’t help but think how nasty our defense would’ve been if Justin Gilbert actually turned out to be what he was supposed to. We’ve blown so many picks.

Here’s the thing bro ... if we didn’t blow so many things in the past ... we wouldn’t be where we are today .... If we took Wentz ... if we took your boy Watson ... IF, IF IF ... I have no clue where we’d be if we took Wentz or Watson or any of the others ... what i do know ... is I LOVE WHERE WERE AT RIGHT NOW TODAY ... I get it .. i’m Still struggling playing that game with Kendricks ... but finally I’m THRILLED with where we are now dawg ... thats what i’m Gonna focus on .... Woulda. coulda, shoulda .. finally .. thats a game for others to play ...

Dawg ... dawgs ... can u imagine if Chubb and Corbett work out ...
When Harrison entered the picture i said it could mean one of three things ...
- Corbett was real bad and we were better with Harrison for the wrong reason
- Corbett, Harrison were about the same and we were better with Joel at gaurd ...
- Harrison was looking so good he made it easy ...
Well we have our answer to that question ... it doesn’t mean Corbett’s not struggling .. but we know even if he was playing good that wasn’t good enough ... Harrison being named the starter was no reflection on Corbett at all ...
Dang dawgs ... if Chubb and Corbett pan out and Avery keeps improving .... sheesh .... are u kidding me ... throw in Bake and ward and thats the type of draft ... i can’t even say it ... getting way ahead of myself ... but sheesh ... the potential is there for all to see ...

Ward was one of the guys I wanted in my alternative draft if we didn't get saquan so I am very happy we got him. He has been better than even my wildest hopes.

I think great CB's are rarer than great RB's.
I try to look at NFL salary structures as to how the NFL GM's and the league in general value positions. CB's are much higher paid than RB's. So to me, by definition CB's are much higher valued than RB's.
I highly doubt Dorsey would have placed a higher value on Barkley than he did on Ward.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I wouldn't go as far as to say that. But he's certainly shown the potential to be one of the top 5 CB's in the league. It's still early so I'm trying not to let my enthusiasm get ahead of reality. lol

He's definitely on the way to elite CB ... I wouldn't say he's there yet, but he has that arc

anybody noticed that since urban meyer took over O state, they've been putting out some nasty DB's into the league?
Conley, Ward, Lattimore, Hooker.
the only one who seems like he's just average is eli apple.

They had been. But this years team doesn't seem to have that top tier, highly respected CB in their ranks.

Also, he appears to be listening to what Gregg Williams is attempting to teach, "for the most part". One of the most noticeable areas of improvement might be Wards tackling, a point that Williams criticized Ward for during preseason. From that time forward, Wards tackling technique has gotten better. Not to be confrontational, but I strongly disagree w/this take. I have been supporting Williams and his schemes, but he was full of crap when he complained about Ward's tackling. I followed the dude in college and he is a very solid tackler who displays great fundamentals. Williams was out of bounds on his comments. To be fair, if I remember right, Williams complaint on Ward's tackling was that he would get himself hurt tackling as high as he was. Ward weighs a lot less than the buck 90 that is listed in the game program. I don't fault him for it and Ward did seem to respond to it.

Bad teams tend to overpay and draft the wrong players, maybe that's why bad teams stay bad for such a long time... I love Ward now, think he was a great pick and he is a great player. Position to me is indifferent, you need good players in every position, specially the ones who put points on the board.
