That would be dumb considering our QB, and basically every QB, is better out of the shotgun.

So you're okay with running out of the shotgun when it's 3rd and 2?

Absolutely. Literally every team does this. It's 2018, not 1973.

The football was much much better in 1973.

I think our defense needs to work on our edge contain

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

I thought when it was 14-3 we should have kicked the FG

Then I thought when it was 21-3 we should have went for it

But what do I know

and even if we GET that first down, we probably still end up with a FG anyways. It didn't guarantee a TD

I remember one of the announcers saying how we were on the top 10 in run defense last year and was shocked we couldn't slow thier ground game. Well in my opinion that's because we got rid of Shelton and meader.

no, coaching was just one part of it. there were many faults.

Our Offense needs but a bit of tweaking...

1- Catch the ball when it hits your hands.
2- The goal of going out for a pass is to get open.
3- Remember we need to score enough points to beat the opponent and his Refs.
4- Special teams are supposed to be special.

Seems like no more than two fans discussing coaching decisions after the game, offering opinions and questioning said decisions. No one I see jumped to the conclusion that those decisions “lost the game”.

We were out coached On O and D and have 1 1/2 receivers. Higgins was sorely missed.

The reason the rookie QB was struggling is BECAUSE THE WR's DROPPED EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The play calling is fine. There are plenty of easy reads (screens, RPOs, etc.). Mayfield just had a bad game. He's a rookie, it's going to happen.

I hope youre not referring to the plays right before the half?

We just seem so handcuffed on offense ... they seemed to be swarming us and crowding the box/LOS

Maybe I'm wrong

Hear, hear!

Like what anyone says on an Internet forum means ****-all in the real world.

Now, I need to get something off my chest: the Chargers have a good team. They have the same amount of money to get and pay players that we have. They pay coaches just like we do. Just because the Browns lost doesn’t mean they are abysmal. Give credit where it is due. The Chargers have a good team, that is well-coached, and they played better than our team today.

Was Baker playing injured? A lot of balls thrown high. And that wounded duck.

I know he got dinged on that one play, but they ever say what his problem was?

twisted his ankle on the yard marker when he scrambled out of bounds. It seemed to affect his play (and his psyche)

Was at the game, just got home. Got stuff to do so I will jot down some thoughts and read the other posts to this thread tomorrow.

- I am beyond done with the "Dilly Dilly." Please, God, make it stop.

- I know what this week's apology from the NFL to Cleveland will be. How in the heck do you miss that false start? Dude was three yards in the backfield when it was snapped. Garrett needs to learn to not stop unless he hears a whistle. But that missed call, holy crap.

- More drops. Will say Njoku had a solid day catching the ball.

- Mayfield looked bad. He was not as decisive as he has been. Took too long to throw. Some guys were no longer open when the ball got to them.

- And he was looking too far downfield. Many times a guy was open underneath, for 7 yards or so, but he was forcing deeper passes into coverage.

- And the pick? What a terrible decision. Moving left, threw off his back foot. Ball was low and behind the WR. That really killed the momentum we got from a great defenisive stand (2nd and 1 and we forced a punt).

- We had no answers for the Chargers offense. They came in with a game plan that shredded us, and we never adjusted. Maybe we don't have the guys? The same plays. Reverses, pitches. We rarely made them work.

- Their kick team was mocking our fans in the second half. Not sure I blame them.

- Peppers did a nice job on the returns.

- Our punter was incredible.

- Those 2 FGs looked like legitimate NFL kicks

- Loud drunken fool behind me, early in the 2nd quarter with the score 7-3 and LAC on 3rd down: "You know, if we stop them we can get back in this game." Down 4 early in the second quarter, and maybe we get back in the game? Of course, the wheels fell off after that.

- Depressing game. Nice to see Joe T get honored. Too bad the team channeled the 2016-2017 Browns in his memory.

Yes sir..I would like to give it a shot.

I don't feel Peppers wants to be on special teams..So I dont understand why the coaching staff still uses him in that capacity.

Not sure when the team is down by 3 scores and the coaching staff knows its a 4 possession and they play calls are pass plays and not run plays.

People say the players love and play hard for Hue..I didn't see that today...Will they and can they do a come back.

Duke was used how often ?

I want to discuss..but just got home from the game...still trying to figure out this piss poor showing...

Odd game to be at. Felt flat from the beginning.

Baker wasn’t the same after he slipped near the first down marker.

Landry was off all game.

Team was not prepared at all for this one. Zero energy.

Horrible non-call by ref on what should have been a false start.

Just a very forgettable effort all around.

throughout the course of the year (in every sport) teams have 1-2 games where they're in a funk

Today was one of those for us IMO

The bad part: LA was REALLY firing well today

Bad combination

Noticed it right away watching on TV. They looked lethargic from the jump. Probably hungover from drinking all the Kool-aid. If Hue gives another Victory Monday after a win, I'm going to lose my $#!%.

It is definitely weird to give a young team that has accomplished nothing a day off. Practice time in the NFL is so valuable, every team should be taking advantage as much as possible.

Especially since there's so little practice time allowed as it is.

Terrible game....

The WR’s hurt the team, and we should have run more.

Defense was trashed....

We didn't play well, against a very good team. Our special teams were a bright spot, which is funny in a sad kind of way.

We flat out got our asses beat. It will happen to a young team that has holes. This might have been a loss that we can learn from.

We couldn't stop the run, they stretched us wide and we did not do anything about it. Their front on D - good coverage by their secondary helped - made baker look like Kessler. He wasn't helped by seven drops.

The drops did us no favours, Callaway has to catch the ball, I mean, catch the ball. Our WR group is decimated. Landry trying to catch a ball one-handed when he could have got two on it was dumb.

On to Tampa Bay.

- Too many drops

- Not sure but it looked like Landry was doubled alot. Why not the other WR’s didnt scare anyone.

- That missed false was terrible. That is now 3 missed false start calls in two weeks. Come on those are easy to see. Dont remember when it was, but they showed a replay when SD clearly had a player offsides and it wasnt called, come on MAN.

- Baker finally played like a rookie.

- Chubb, Hyde, and Duke need more touches!

This one doesn't have me up in arms. The Chargers played a very good game. We didn't. Our offense was completely out of synch and the defense didn't play well either.

But, it's just one game. Bad games happen. Every team has them. The really good ones manage to still win most of the time. That's not us.

We played poorly, the Chargers played well (and they have a lot of talent to go along with that).

It happens. The real question is how we rebound next week.

How does Baker, the receivers, and the O-Line answer this week's performance. And how can the defense shore up themselves to not get beat on all the big plays/runs the way they did

The Chargers gave us a whooping. But it's still one game. Hopefully next week vs the Bucs goes better. I still hope we're somewhere around 6-10 to 9-7 at the end of the year

I'm getting concerned about Landry. His catch rate is low and so is his production. He's even dropping passes ... and obviously getting frustrated.

Maybe they're double teaming him. Maybe it's a product of the other WRs being so bad. I don't know. But this is not the same guy we thought he'd be.
