Look up.
I tried to give you an answer in a non-argumentative tone.

Shouldn't you be asking Trump about this? After all it was he who felt compelled to make up some slang name and make fun of her for it. Like he does to almost anyone who opposes him or he feels threatened by.

That Trump was wrong.

to qualify for benefits yes. To prove you have some native American blood, no.

Most of us probably do.

Maybe because Trump made a mockery of her for stating she had some native American blood.

The point is, Trumps side doesn’t believe ones word or proof. Never has.

I'll give it a try.

I guess it matters because it was turned into a political tool/weapon during the last campaign. Now, it's a thing. The infantile name-calling by then-candidate Stump made it a political football. Warren was called out in public, mocked, and challenged to provide proof. This is her response.

She was also promised that should proof be provided, her challenger would donate 1M to the charity of her choice.

So... that's kind of a public issue now, because D00D wouldn't stop hammering the whole 'Pocahontas' thing for over a year while on the campaign trail.

So it may not be an issue for you (or me either, in the grand scheme of things), but it really is for others. Because public figures making public statements should be held to account, no matter how grand or small the subject.

.02

Got it. Thanks. So her possible 1/1024th native American heritage isn't an issue, other than to make Trump look bad, because he said she wasn't a native American, but she comes up with "I'm possibly......" as proof.

In the grand scheme of things, this is a nothing burger. Totally.

I understand your last statement: "...public figures making statements should be held to account,...."

Elizabeth ALSO made a statement. One that her "proof" doesn't prove.

I bet I might have more native American (or Columbian, or Mexican, etc) than her. Maybe I'm wrong on that?

But I can certainly trace my heritage back to, something like 17?? (I forget the year). But, my great great great grandfather was from France. (G.G.G. on my dad's side). Apparently, if what I read on here is correct, Europeans, as a whole, have more native American blood than Warren?

I don't understand that, and maybe it's not correct.

My question stands: Why does it matter? Warren benefited from what her 'proof' now shows was a lie.

You probably could trace it back. But she was 'raised' with the stories about her great grandparents or whatever were Native American. It was a part of her 'family history' and stuff. So it's not like she just arbitrarily said one day "I'm Native American." She was told about it by her grandparents and parents and uncles and aunts or whatever while she was growing up.

So she embraced it, then President Trump completely mocked and ridiculed her. Called her names. Other republicans made fun of her for being 'Indian'. Then Trump said take a DNA test, and she did. Results came back that there is some. Doesn't change what her parents and grandparents or whatever were telling her.

Her actually having some Native American ancestors isn't the actual issue. It's just the fact that President Trump made such a big deal about it. He made it a big thing.

It means there's some native American in her heritage. So if you were told growing up you were from native American heritage and an elected POTUS made a mockery of you for saying it, what would your response be?

1/1024th. My response would be "who cares?"

Really.

I mean, what is 1/1024th native American? Here's what it is: nothing.

The Cherokee Nation has issued a statement on Warren's DNA Test results: https://www.kjrh.com/news/local-news/che...na-test-results

Quote:
"A DNA test is useless to determine tribal citizenship. Current DNA tests do not even distinguish whether a person's ancestors were indigenous to North or South America. Sovereign tribal nations set their own legal requirements for citizenship, and while DNA tests can be used to determine lineage, such as paternity to an individual, it is not evidence for tribal affiliation. Using a DNA test to lay claim to any connection to the Cherokee Nation or any tribal nation, even vaguely, is inappropriate and wrong. It makes a mockery out of DNA tests and its legitimate uses while also dishonoring legitimate tribal governments and their citizens, who ancestors are well documented and whose heritage is prove. Senator Warren is undermining tribal interests with her continued claims of tribal heritage."

Cherokee Nation responds to Senator Warren, says DNA test 'useless to determine tribal citizenship'

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/cheroke...bal-citizenship

"Sovereign tribal nations set their own legal requirements for citizenship, and while DNA tests can be used to determine lineage, such as paternity to an individual, it is not evidence for tribal affiliation," Hoskin continued. "Using a DNA test to lay claim to any connection to the Cherokee Nation or any tribal nation, even vaguely, is inappropriate and wrong. It makes a mockery out of DNA tests and its legitimate uses while also dishonoring legitimate tribal governments and their citizens, whose ancestors are well documented and whose heritage is proven. It was just dumb on every level, most notably the notion that you’re going to find success using facts or reason to combat a barely sentient game show host who rambles incoherently about things he misheard on Tucker Carlson while geriatric racists and rubes hoot and holler.

If the 2016 election has any clear lesson, it’s that you have to run for something , you can’t merely run against something. The correct path to anyone challenging Trump is to merely point out that he’s a brain dead racist kook and move on with your own vision (of which Warren has offered little).

Pocahontas (the bad version), sometimes referred to as Elizabeth Warren, is getting slammed. She took a bogus DNA test and it showed that she may be 1/1024, far less than the average American. Now Cherokee Nation denies her, “DNA test is useless.” Even they don’t want her. Phony!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) October 16, 2018

Thank you to the Cherokee Nation for revealing that Elizabeth Warren, sometimes referred to as Pocahontas, is a complete and total Fraud!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) October 16, 2018

Now that her claims of being of Indian heritage have turned out to be a scam and a lie, Elizabeth Warren should apologize for perpetrating this fraud against the American Public. Harvard called her “a person of color” (amazing con), and would not have taken her otherwise!
