Enough with the Frye vs Dosey vs Quinn vs Anderson soap opera. How about this one. Right now who deserves to be the #2 behind Jamal Lewis, Chris Barclay or Jerome Harrison? Chris Barclay has shown a ability to get to the 2nd and 3rd levels on the football field in a hurry. He looks to have more explosion and giddy up in his step. He picks his knees up faster than Harrison does. He's already had 2 plays of 30 yards plus in the preseason. Jerome Harrison IMO hasn't done anything special so far..at least not as eye catching as Barclay. just a thought......

I like Harrison better than Barclay, and I think he's got a leg up on the job as well.

Jason Wright.
Oh - you meant the other two. Harrison. He is a clone of Barclay, but bigger. And that is not saying much.

It's a toss up. I would voted for Harrison as of right now, but Barclay is gaining ground.

You really don't know much about the Browns do you?
#2 - Jason Wright.
I see Barclay getting cut unless we keep 4 RB's.

He was on the practice squad last year, I believe.
I could see us keeping 4 RB's.. If that happens don't expect Syndric Steptoe to make the team. Barclay will be our returner if that is the scenario.

I think there is a very good chance Barclay makes the team just for what he can bring to the return game. From what I've seen nobody has stepped up and taken a hold of that job yet.

I've always liked Harrison, and it seems like he's put on some weight since last season. I'd have him over Barclay, but not by much... Chris has been very impressive.
If we keep Barclay, what does that mean for Cribbs?
I want the Cleveland Browns to be my pallbearers so they can let me down for the last time.

Barclay plays on special teams .... which I would think would give a 3rd string player an advantage.
However ..... i can see the Browns keeping 4 RB and 1 FB. (Especially with the lack of depth shown thus far at WR)

I'd keep em both to be honest. I think Harrision still has talent. He did do a lot with Quinn this past game to atleast help him a bit. That dive into the endzone was really nice. Chris on the other hand has done some nice work in ST. Its tough both guys have made plays.

After Lewis, I'm not particularly happy with any of them to be honest..
I mean I see some bright spots in Barclay.. Haven't really seen much of him from scrimmage yet.. Did a nice job on the return in the first Preseason game. So it's hard to really get a read as to what he would do with the 1st team Offense against a 1st team D. I'd like to see that because neither Harrison or Wright have been very impressive.

So does Harrison. I like Barclay a lot and would love to see him get more carries. As of right now he is behind Harrison on the depth chart and will probably stay there. I would love to keep four backs this year bit I don't think the chances are good. Barclay could be much more valueable if he could return punts.

My thoughts. Wright has not shown anything to merit consideration as a #2 back. 3.0 ypc will not make it.

Another reason for this is it's important to have a "change of pace" RB, and with Wright, he's just another Lewis. With Harrison, we get some speed and agility out there..

Jason Wright ain't goin nowhere. He's #2 on the depth chart, and will be the whole season. Browns like his smarts, effort, ST ability, and leadership. He can catch and he can follow his blocks. He's not the most talented guy, but he's the best suited to carry the load if we lose Lewis for any period of time. Bank it.

Agreed, Wright just has not done enough to truly impress me, not that Harrison has done much more running the ball, however, he can catch the ball.
Barcley needs to get some time running the ball from scrimmage. As of now, it's hard to judge him, other than ST.

Barclay is small for a RB. Can he block LBs and can he get yards inside? I think we should use our fast agile runners but not like Lewis. Use them more outside as recievers and runners. Northcutt did a good job becuse he was so elusive he would not be caught if he got open.
Wright is a good RB but not a breakaway threat. He can block and catch so he is a true backup. Harrison and Barclay are all purpose types that can be used for STs or receiving. Like Jamel White.

All Purpose back sounds REAL good to me...
Barclay can run inside... he can run outside... he can run screens... He can do a lot...
I've been thinking along the lines of when Harrison gets tired.. Barclay can come in.. same type back that can't be seen behind the o-line, which helps get extra yards...
if we need someone like Lewis.. there is always Vickers on the roster..

Harrison...20 carries for 60 yds. Wright...62 for 189 yds.
BOTH are at 3YPC...
i'm not saying that means much, but if you want to toss out Wright and make Harrison your #2, i thought it was relevent...

Anyway you percieve it,anyway you percieve.................... this is in the same spirit as the 1,000 discussions involving the QB debacles since 1999. It would be a real bore if everyone had the same lines of thinking GM Dawg. If a Browns fan had started this thread, then I doubt you'd label it "stirring the pot"... But because Iam a Bengals in Browns country, I'm thought of differently.....

#1 Jamal Lewis...finally we got ourselves a real RB to carry the load - I've seen him catch n run. He's going to do some damage getting dump offs in open territory.
#2 Jason Wright...he hits the holes quick and is very intelligent regarding our system. He is not great in any area but does everything well.
#3 Chris Barclay...he has shown that he has the ability to run inside and out even though it was through the now defunct NFLe. RAC has stated that the 3rd RB needs to bring more to the table than RB skills - Barclay could actually make Cribbs obsolete as a return specialist. But regardless Barclay has shown to be gifted on special teams that gives him an edge for the #3 spot.
Harrison - we adore him cause he is a Brown...but he has not shown anything special except late in preseason games. Which makes him superior to only guys that don't belong in the NFL.
JMHO - me I wanted Greg Pruitt Jr. I thought that was great that Greg Sr. refused to accept a Jersey from his son as it wasn't a Brown's Jersey
Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off! Go Browns! CHRIST HAS RISEN! GM Strong! & Stay safe everyone!

Personally I feel that if Lewis goes down, so does our season. None of the guys you mention could carry this team very far. Nor, do they strike fear into opposing defenses. Therefore, should something happen to Lewis (heaven help us if it does) I see Savage going after a free agent RB. Of the guys you mention, none of them have done anything special. It is perhaps the weakest link on this teams offense.
And the next head coach is ......

I don't know why everything thinks Wright should be cut, if Lewis goes down I'd rather have him get the 15+ carries a game than Harrison, who won't do squat between the tackles in the regular season. Plus Wright has made a few big plays catching the ball, and he does very well on screen plays.
Between Harrison and Barclay for the changeitup RB/3rd RB, I'd say Harrison b/c he's done about the same on offense as Barclay, but he's bigger and actually has the option to run between the tackles even though he's not that good in there. Barclay is good on STs, but Cribbs is the KR so Barclay has no role there. No need to keep 4 RBs just to have a backup KR.

I agree.
Wright gets little love around here, but he is pretty good and doesn't fumble the ball much. Coaches love that...expecially in the back-up.
I also think if it comes down to Barclay or Harrison...Barclay gets the nod.
As you said...Harrison hasn't done anything and IMO, Barclay is a better player who gives us more options.

Isn't he with the Ravens? Hows he doing down there anyway?
EDIT: I just checked the Ravens board,, he's on the roster but nowhere to be found on the Depth chart.

I favor Barclay, but I dont know if its b/c i pimped him so hard two years ago when he came out...
Barclay holds on to the rock and he also can run to the inside or outside.. i just hope that they dont tell him to block much b/c he doesnt have the size for that at all...

I think harrison is a bit better of a pass reciever. But you are correct, not very impressive stats for either, but wright had 3 times the number of carries. A 10 yard gain would have changed his ypc signficantly.

I like Harrison as a receiver too... From my own simple observation, I've liked Wright more running the ball.. Harrison just seems more tentative and a bit slower getting to the hole and making cuts....
