Having had time to reflect on my poorly worded comment from the other night I would like to apologize.

It's weird because what I said wasn't anywhere near what I was trying to say. It's not who I am, I actually went to bed nauseous once it dawned on me how I was taken (and it is what I said, but not what I meant to say) and the thought of what my wife and daughters would think if they had seen that post.

Not gonna go down the road of what I meant to say, I'm not going to try get out from under it.

So, again, I apologize.

But I can't be here anymore. It's gotten too mean for me, no matter what you say, you're told every other post you make that that's not what you meant. Pretty much for the entire time I've been on a Browns board, and that's been 10 years now.

Not one of us would say the things we say the way we say them in person, or on top of that some of the things that we say.

So goodbye, for now.

And you're right: This place HAS gotten mean, no doubt. Like you, I can't take - actually - don't want to take the vitriol that comes with stating an opinion that a group of 7-10 disagree with, and stop at nothing in an attempt to belittle. It's like a pack of wolves recently, really.

And that's fine.

I, as have many, stepped over the line at 1 time or another. Most forgive. For me, there are a few that can't, and won't. It is what it is.

Ted, yes this place has become meaner, and I think that is a symptom of the world at large. I mostly stay out of the political toilet, but have waded back in lately, often wishing I had ignored it.

We all write things we wish we hadn't. A few years ago, I wrote a beut, and luckily thought better of it before anyone read it.

You apologized, and I assume you mean it, so that should end the matter. It does for me, anyway.

As for some of the other comments ..... there are some people I don't even read anymore. I might read the 1st sentence of their posts, but usually then just move on. No sense getting upset about it. That just allows them to win.

Ted, what you posted was offensive and sexist. I don't doubt that you might have meant something else because I was shocked that you posted it.

It takes a big man to apologize and a good man to mean it. I believe you are both.

We all make mistakes and the times have us a little crazy. You and I are good as far as I'm concerned. No need to leave or be gone long, you are family.

Three things did the trick for me ...

- being called a pedaphile for asking a question in the ray Moore thread ... all i ever did was ask a question and i was a pedaphile ...

- being told i didn’t serve my country because i forgot a few details about my discharge in May of 1982 ... that was 36 years ago for those that are counting .... to put it in perspective ... Dr. Ford was sexually assualted and the only two things she seems to remember about the day are she was assualted and Judge Kavanaugh did it ....

Point not being political ... POINT BEING PEOPLE FORGET THINGS AFTER 36 YEARS ...

It was OK for her to forget everything about that day ... ME ... i was branded a LIAR that NEVER SERVED because i thought i had 75 days of leave saved up when someone pointed out u could only have 60 ... WHAT A WHOPPER THAT WAS or maybe it was 35 years after the fact MY MEMORY FADED and i put zero thought into my post ....

I also forgot about terminal leave til it was pointed out ... and i got out 30 days early and thats what terminal leave is ... *L* ...

3rd was when Clem said I should never mention his name again (sorry i just did for the first time Clem .. say what u want about me ... I RESPECT other peoples request ... it’s WHO I AM ... i won’t mention it again ... u are however going to get a PM with my honorable discharge and my chit requesting i get out 30 days early .. i took 30 days TERMINAL leave and 30 days pay ... i have no clue why ... but thats important to me ... i have to dig it out ... ) ...

Mr. Clem wanted nothing to do with me anymore because of the military memory lapse i had was the final straw that proved i was a lying racist not worth the time ... when i read it my initial thought was ... TOUCHÉ CLEM ... i think the same of U ... then it dawned on me ... it was an “OH, HOLY CRUD” MOMENT ... maybe i need to take a step back and think about what’s actually happenend here ...

Clem’s been around these parts for a long time and someone I have mad respect for ... he’s pretty much a legend and its been well earned over the years ....... is Clem the poster I’ve considered a very intelligent man who i read every word because i almost always learned something ... picked up a life nugget from ...... something to learn from and pass on to my nephews ..... someone who I considered a “friend” on here even though i very rarely had private convo’s with him ...

or is he the racist, lying POC I believe he all of a sudden turned into based off how I perceive his posts in this cess pool ....

Thats when it dawned on me ... i’d put money on the fact that Clem is the person he’d been for the last 15 or so years and not the person who I perceive him to be in the cess pool ..... i know i’m not anywhere near the person he thinks i am .... so i’m SURE the reverse is also true ...

I decided then i didn’t have what it “took” to be in there ... didn’t like who i allowed it to turn me into .... i decided its prolly time to get out if they think your a racist, lying, pedaphile POC ... i’m not even close to any of those things and I’d bet my bottom dollar NEITHER IS CLEM ...

So i left that part of the board ... BEST MOVE EVER ...

I told u (please don’t suspend me refs ... its an apology .. ) ... your head was so far up Swish’s butt u couldn’t think for yourself or something along those lines ...

Your a good man Ted ... that place can turn folks into something there not ... it took along time to wear Clem down ... but it even got to him ...

U were one of the reasons i still go back and read .... u were level headed and objective for the most part ...

I’m going to take experience and learn form it ... i made mistakes ... plenty of them ... i’m going to grow form it and use it when i deal with folks in other social media outlets and in other forums on here ... i’ve Been trying to be nicer when i disagree with folks in the football forums ...

Hopefully within time ... u can do the same ... learn and grow from it ...

I read your post in the other thread with the following rants and discussions. The usual aftermath of what these threads always turn into and I wasn’t totally shocked with your statement about women. After all, it’s the Trump era. So I didn’t post anything at all.

To the lady dawgs here...you can actually end the Trump era.

Ask anybody who has met me around here. I am the same in person as I am on the board, and anything I say here I have no problem saying in person.

and ted, i feel it. i'm starting to hate this forum. love the community, besides 2 or 3 members who ruin everything. At least some people used to be respectful and polite. Those are no longer the days.

I also have to say that there are a lot of posters who should apologize for some of thier posts, but never will.

I don't remember seeing anything you wrote that I found offensive enough to require an apology.

Statements of opinion aren't a bad thing. I'm one of those that if you met me you'd find me saying pretty much the same thing I write here. (usually with a smile or a laugh at the end of the statement)

Like I said, I didn't see it, but if you felt it was appropriate to retract it, Good for you for standing up and taking it on the chin.

That said, we all make posts that we come to regret. I've had a some where I later think.. maybe I shouldn't have said that. And the 'preview post' function has saved me a number of times.

Hopefully you'll reconsider. If you said something that was really awful then learn from it and try to do better in the future.

Things have always been mean to some extent. I think it often depends on who the posters are. There are some on here that can disagree and still have a rational debate. There are some who can't.

There used to be a lot more rational discussions and debates on here. But in the political world things have been dialed up about three notches over the past two years. It has directly transferred to the discussions on the board.

If we expect to have rational discussions we also must demand the same from the leaders of both parties and quit repeating their rhetoric.

When, or if, you come back we can bring you back gently with an abortion or gun control thread.

Your apology should be enough, no need to stop coming to this place. I hardly even read the threads on the Political forum, let alone post. That place is almost poisonous, screw that.

I know I insulted a poster's intelligence in there once and I don't think we 'spoke' for months and months, until recently. I won't say who it was, let's just say he's filling up that island fast.

I've apologized to posters in PMs, in threads, and sometimes I just say 'to hell with it'.

Thing is, I would never try to make someone feel bad, but it's easy to let your mouth run faster than your brain sometimes.

Ted, I think you're a good man. I don't think you are a misogynist or a sexist. These things are not defined by a (perhaps) poorly thought out sentence on a forum such as this, but rather by how you treat the people - in this case, women (and girls) - in your life. Nothing I have ever read by you would indicate anything less than the highest regard for the women and girls in your life. So you should not deny yourself the camaraderie of a site like this, where we all have a common bond (the Browns). This little episode is a fart in a blizzard when you look at the things that get posted on that forum. My advice, if I may, is that you should just avoid it. Or, continue posting there, but just have your say and walk away. People will still criticize your posts because their view differs from yours - let them. Its no big deal; its just a message board for goodness sake.

I think that you apologizing was a classy move. We've all said things we wish we hadn't.

I know you and I have had our differences, but I think you are a good dude. We'd probably be good friends if we met in person.

Take as much time as you need, but come on back to the board. You are a valued member of this board.

No need to leave Ted. Mistakes happen and there are plenty on here who have done and said far worse. It's gotten to be par for course anymore. It will most likely be at any other forum you visit as well.
