Confirming the #Browns have fired Hue Jackson. @AdamSchefter had it first

I am NOT a Hue Jackson fan at all, yet I am also NOT a mindless Hue hater.

As I have stated elsewhere on these fora, I am opposed to firing Hue in mid-season.

And if the Haslams (or hopefully Dorsey) can't find a great coach this off season, firing Hue is a waste of time.

The idiots running this clownshow in Berea had damn well better have a great plan in place to find a great new coaching staff capable of winning multiple Superbowls.

So who takes over? Saunders?

And how many wins does this add this season?

Not thinking this was the right move. We still have the same players.

Why fire Hue Jackson now?

You get a massive head start on identifying and interviewing candidates to replace him.

Smart move by the Browns.

Not the worst. Not by a long shot.

Hue was a below average head coach who had horrible rosters thanks to Farmer and Sashi, two fools who will NEVER work as GMs in the NFL again.

Hue Jackson will have to review the tape first to verify if he's been fired.

Hue will likewise never work as a HC in the NFL again.

To my eye, the team laid down and quit playing in the 4th yesterday. The biggest thing I felt Jackson had going for him was that the players played for him. I think that ship sailed yesterday, in my opinion.

As stated earlier, this gives the Browns and Dorsey a leg up on doing their homework to find the next guy.

Remember when a couple of posters actually tried to sell us on the idea that Dorsey wanted to keep Hue?

Well...it's finally over. Should be time for the Haley and Baker show. New attitude and a new commitment to doing things the right way. Players will be on notice and better start doing what is expected of them. Coaches need to step it up and get these players ready for the games going forward. The Browns cannot keep coming out of the locker room and not be ready for the game continuing to make the same mistakes over and over again. Whoever it is, they need to be a leader. Good luck whoever it is.

I hate it for him as a man but not as a coach he has plenty in the bank ...

I was a vocal person against Hue as HC of this team.

He is a good man and I wish him the best, but he was not the right person for this team - or any team in the NFL. That was painstakingly obvious.

Firing him now or at the end of the season, I don't see how it changes the narrative that this is a job where coaches go to die. Anyone with a brain would avoid the Browns and anyone desperate enough to answer their phone should demand a 5 year guaranteed contract with huge coin.

I really don't see us finding "the next great coach" with how we burn through them.

I'm no Hue apologist, but we've been damn near good in almost every game. Heck, late in the 3rd we were 4 points down to the Steelers (and should have been tied). If the refs don't screw us over in the Raiders game and if we had a competent kicker, we might have 3 more wins. Also, if we had healthy WRs, we might have been slightly better too.

Meh, doesn't matter. Shoulda, coulda, woulda.

I suppose the next coach will have to be a strict dictator-type, right?

Al Saunders it is. Haley and Baker can focus on what they need to. Come Get Some can focus on what he needs to do. On to Kansas City.

Agreed. Hue has had two shots at a head coaching job and didn't shine in either one. He won't get a third shot.

Hue can enjoy a year or two off, collect checks from the Jimmuh the Stooge, enjoy well deserved time with his family, and get a good OC job in the NFL thereafter.

Well, gird your loins for another reboot. Crazy to me to think another reboot on the heels of the reboot to end all reboots is what some fans wanted.

We deserve this team.

It sounds like the reports about friction between Haley and Hue were not only real, but maybe even understated.

It was obvious Hue had to go. I'm glad Dorsey got his way because he has already shown so many positives in being able to build a football team.

I wrote this five days ago in the "What Really Matters" thread:

Quote:
I too had a long post written up in reply. However, I chose not to post it.. let's say it was not a very friendly analysis of Hue's first two years here and leave it at that.

I'm going to try to be more positive and I look forward to a win against Pittsburgh.

Time will tell who is right on this. I think most of us agree here that the Browns have a lot going for us right now. John Dorsey has been excellent, drafting or trading for players like Mayfield and Ward (neither being popular picks, but both looking like the right picks), Chubb, Avery, Landry, Randall, and others.

In Dorsey we trust. And now, we have to trust him, and that includes his judgement of the coaching staff.

Saunders makes the most sense (especially since I called it laugh )

Wouldn't add to Haley's plate.

Still the same players however. Will a different voice make a difference?

I feel bad for Hue. Nobody wanted to turn this organization around more then him and now this is his legacy, at least right now. Regardless, this move was long overdue.
