For all the HS football fans, parents and/or players out there. Who's excited? I know I am.
This is probably the only game I'll get to see this year since I have Friday classes and won't get a 3 day weekend at home so I don't see the point to going home. West G. vs. Padua. I'm very very excited to see the team under this new coach (Bors) they have (old coach took the Perry job). I liked when I played for the old coach (Rosati), but looking back I realized just how much of a snake and liar he really is. I've met the new coach and I like everything he brings to the table, more of a nose to the grindstone kind of guy and doesn't let inmates run the asylum (we had an issue with the sophomores my senior year because he let them do whatever they wanted).
It's my brother's senior year, too. So it's probably the last year I'll be watching closely until I have sons playing. I missed half my senior year with a high ankle sprain I kept re-aggravating from trying to come back too soon. Gotta tell ya, I have a bad bad itch to play again. I wish 300 was out back then cuz that's the ultimate motivational movie, I'd watch it before every game.
Anyway, this is the HS football thread if anyone cares to add to it.

Ohio and H.S. football......oh yeah !! Alot of good teams are from N.E. Ohio and I am always partial to the Stark County teams so we'll see how they do.

My son and I will be at the Greeneview vs. Greenon (div 4) matchup. Greeneview (our home team) has been sub .500 for 6 years. The team was 1-9 last season. The head coach is in his second year.
The defense looks stout. Th offense should eat a lot of clock. I fully expect to see a final score of 14-12. I wouldn't be surprised to see a 7-6 final.

Cardinal Stritch vs. Fremont St. Joe.....not a clash of the titans, but Stritch is the wife's alma and it's less than a mile from my house.
The big game is September 8th. My son's team (Point Place Lions 9-10y.o.) are taking on Ottawa Hills. I didn't even know they had tackle football for his age group until last month when his baseball coach asked him to play. Seeing him in football pads brought a tear to my eye.

Another thing I'd like to add...
The defensive scheme is different from when I played but the offense is the same, and I have to tell you, when it clicks it's the most spectacular passing game in HS ball. It's a pro-style O that runs 55% of the time and passes 45%. Paired with the right QB this O goes. Way better than a boring option offense.

Actually kind of funny to see the matchup that's never been "allowed" before,...Hilliard's 2 schools, Darby vs. Davidson, last year's D-1 Champ. Davidson by 30, I would say. Of course I won't be there,...the Delaware Art Show this evening, my anniversary "gift" from the wife.

The Rebels will kick Euclid's butts. My local team Poland won last night 23-14 over a pretty good Hubbard team. Hopefully it's a sign of good things to come.

12-7 Padua...
It may be the same offensive scheme but the playcalling is totally different...they played conservative all game...plus the QB had no pocket presence whatsoever.
Didn't like the defense either although they stiffened up after halftime. Felt like they played the Browns' "play not to lose" defense, saw no press coverage or anything like we used to run. This guy's a defensive guy too...
I'm hoping it's more Padua being that good than us being that bad, I hate to see it my brother's senior year cuz we lost our first game my senior year too.
Too bad we just couldn't beat down NDCL like we always used to on opening night...

After talking to my brother I learned a few things...
The offensive scheme is the same, and despite having the same offensive coordinator from last season, the playcaller last year was the head coach, this year it's the offensive coordinator.
Oh boy, I have a pit in my stomach just thinking about it. I was practically screaming for some quick rhythm passes to get in the flow and mix up the runs and runningbacks carrying the ball (we have 3 good ones).
Instead it was run, run, pass. Playcalling had no rhyme or reason to it. Doubt anyone really cares but I have to vent about this.
The QB has his deficiencies, but they could have helped mask them with some better plays.

Sorry you missed a good one..
Link to that..
Ebert, a 6-foot, 175-pounder who operates out of the shotgun formation, rushed for 203 yards on 26 carries, including a fourth-quarter 40-yard touchdown that left the black-clad Darby crowd delirious.
Sheeesh.. Looky at the box score results for Upper Arlington's 70 - 0 win over Westland:
UA: Drake 3 run (Sylvester kick); UA: Farwick 53 run (Sylvester kick); UA: Farwick 18 run (Sylverster kick); UA: Drake 30 run (Sylvester kick); UA: Sauter 10 fumble return (Sylvester kick); UA: M.Berry 11 run (Sylvester kick); UA: Groves 5 run (Sylvester kick); UA: Krimm 2 run (Sylvester kick); UA: Krack 10 run (Shroyer kick); UA: Hobson 3 run (Steen kick).

Saint,...you beat me to the punch, but I like crow when my team wins !!! I coached many of the Darby kids as an assistant at Heritage Middle School.
This could set Darby's season on fire. Great win for the Panthers.

Davidson lost 5 very talented O-linemen a great RB, but they still have a good D and a very good QB.

No, but I did work that "side of the tracks" for 3 years as a middle school substitute teacher, football, wrestling and track coach. Best 3 years of my retired life after the Marines. Met many great parents and new friends in Hilliard. We moved to get closer to wife's work (Delaware).
I miss working with the "kids," so it's always fun to see them succeed as they did against Big D. Davidson has a great program -- always a wonder that Coach White hasn't moved on to college yet.
No disrespect intended friend,....just happy for the kids.
