Finally election day! I am so sick of this midterm election cycle. This referendum on Trump is about to choose the winners and losers around DT PP. Obviously I hope my side wins, but I'm wishing the GOP best of luck too; it's the least civil gesture we should all make IMHO.
Win or lose, I'll just be happy when it's over. The next few months should also see the end of Mueller's investigation. Again, regardless of the outcome, there should be some healing afterwards.
I hope the results of all this will be a country working together again with a lot less hate. I doubt that will happen easily or maybe not at all, but that's what I would like to see.
Please post all things related to midterm elections here.
I'll just be happy to not see another ad for ahile, or get a text. Friday I received a text from both Manchin and Morrsey. I replied back the next person to text me from either campaign when I am spending time with my family will lose my vote.

Sad part is it's legal spam and nobody even bothers to read replies. Spam rules/do not call laws do not apply to political campaigns or charities including churches.

Actually I did receive a reply that they were removing me from their list.
Here was the chain I received::
Quote:
Hi Willi, this is Geri and I am texting on behalf of Patrick Morrisey who is the only candidate that will fight to keep our economy booming! I hope that you, along with your friends and family will join me on Nov. 6 in supporting him for the Senate!
My reply:
Quote:
Hello, Gerri, I will support all of you not texting and bothering me during my time with my family. If you text me again I will vote for the other guy's going to mess me over because either way all politicians mess the regular folk over.
I didn't exactly use the word mess
They actually replied:
Quote:
Sorry to disturb you. You have been opted out. Have a great day!
I voted this morning. Unfortunately I’m in trump county so I dunno how much good it’s gonna do, but I went ahead and knocked it out early.
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
Mueller is following the FBI guidelines to not do anything to interfere within two months of the election. So there has been little to no activity on Russia.
And just to be fair to the other side, here is Trump's final pre-election message:
Yep. Unlike Comey, mueller isn’t causing drama right before Election Day.
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
Yeah I got scammed by the city of Gahanna, the more I look into it, the more I am pretty sure that voting “No” on a tax increase was actually voting “Yes” on increased taxes.
Fox News is officially nothing more than a propaganda outlet.
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
John 3:16 Jesus said "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."
I find it amusing that any Dems actually think there's a chance of taking over the senate. That's not gonna happen. The house is a possibility but still not a lock by any means.
Here's what I think you'll see a lot of. MUCH closer margins. In states and districts where Trump won by huge margins I think those margins will be much smaller. Let's face it, those who lean left just don't turn out for mid term elections. Sure you'll see a bigger turnout this time but not the ground swell the left is looking for.
But here's the message these mid terms should send. Those who know anything about politics know mid term turn outs favor the right. And these margins are still going to be much slimmer than the support Trump got in 2016. It's a strong message and warning for 2018. People are getting tired of a president who lies consistently. Who incites and promotes violence. Who calls people names and acts like a school yard bully. Who instigates hate and division.
So they'll either listen or 2020 will be very ugly for the right.

the house and the senate are definitely two different maps.
i learned my lesson from 2016 to be confident about anything. the dems certainly have a chance to take the house, but there's a good chance the dems actually lose a couple seats in the senate.
however, just getting control of the house is a huge win for the dems, and a painful loss for the GOP/Trump.
what im particularly interested in is the governor race for Florida and Georgia. if those two states flip blue....wow bro. wow.
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
Well they haven't elected a Democrat as governor in 20 years.
i didnt want to state the obvious.

It's a lot like here in Tennessee. To elect a Democrat, they can't be a liberal. They have to be what they called back in the day, a blue dog Democrat. More like John Kasich than Chuck Schumer. They are Democrats in name only. Otherwise they have zero shot at being elected. Pretty much how it is in Florida.
Our senate race between Marsha Blackburn and Phil Bredesen was a very nasty race. But Blackburn kept comparing Bredeson to Chcuck Schumer when everyone in Tennessee knew Bredesen wasn't some big time liberal. He's a former Governor and would never had been governor here had he been some big time liberal.
But that's the thing I think both sides lose sight of sometimes. Not every Democrat is like Nancy Pelosi and not every Republican is like Donald Trump.
Our current governor is Bill Haslam. He's a Republican but a great governor. I supported him in the last election and he has performed very well for the state. He tried to expand medicaid here like it is in Ohio but failed because the GOP led state legislature refused to pass it. He worked on and passed the Tennessee Promise which gives Tennessee students two years of free college tuition.
Luckily, our governors race has been very civil. Bill Lee against Karl dean. A clean race that focused on the issues and no dirt really thrown from either side. I actually liked both the candidates and admire how they conducted themselves during the election. It was refreshing in todays political climate.

i'm glad you talked about the atmosphere of your particular state's election cycle. its been dirtier here in ohio. the governor and attorney general race has been especially ugly in the way of attacks ads and such.
we always talk about the divide, but these politicians and their staff absolutely push it across all forms of media. really sad.

Things are a changin in a way they have never changed before ...
Gonna be interesting and it will more than likely lead to ... and after the last two years that ended in the complete and utter national disgrace that was the kavanaugh hearings in regards to party lines being strictly adhered too ...
Tonight could lead to even worse cooperation and more and more votes strictly along party lines among our elected representives ... REPRESENTITIVES who seem to have lost sight of the fact there elected to represent the people that elected them not the leaders ofthere party who happen to reside in NY, WI, KY or Cali depending on what party there in ...
JUST ANOTHER LOST CONCEPT on our elected officials ... SHOCKER ...
