Perhaps what I meant to relay was that he is not the best deep threat on the roster anymore. He has lost a step. He is 3rd in the league in targets so, yeah he is going to put up numbers.
that i agree with, him not being the best deep threat. thats ridley now.
but he's still hands down the best WR in the league, nvm the falcons roster. the last few seasons, including this one, teams are playing a crap ton of zone, doubling, sometimes triple coverage with the sole intention of stopping matty ice from throwing to jones.
so IMO, it has nothing to do with losing a step, and everything to do with defenses trying to take him away. our defense also doubled him constantly yesterday, and he still busted out. thats how great that dude is.
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”

He is definitely not the best WR in the league. I think you'd be hard pressed to get him into the top 5. I wouldn't be upset if someone argued that but his star in on a down trend.
3 consecutive seasons going down in yards per reception despite mountains of targets. He's a great player, but he's no longer Megtron lite, he's a slightly faster and quicker Anquon Boldin.
Ward covering Ridley instead of Jones could be as simple as the fact that Ward was playing hurt. Or, it could be because Ward is a better size/speed matchup with Ridley than he would be with Jones. I'm sure he could run with Jones, but he could also get worked over due to the physical mismatch between him and Jones (5'11, 190 vs 6'3, 220). In any case, the defensive plan for Jones pretty much held him to a respectable, but not great, game.
I also think we like Ward on quicker guys ... he has the athleticism to stay with them
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."
I just don't agree. He is a great player, but a lot of times people over rate guys based on past success.
This year, I'd take Brown, Theiland, Thomas and Tyreek Hill over Jones. He's lost a step, we can agree to disagree but I think some of the problems on that offense are more related to forcing him the ball than not getting him involved enough. In a double digit loss where they were passing the entire 2nd half, he had 107 yards on 11 targets. I'm not arguing he isn't great, I am arguing Julio Jones from 3 years ago would smash the Browns.
Carrie - played great Ward - played great Schobert - played great Collins - actually gave 100% Zettler (who is he) - played great
OL except for 1 play by Robinson played great, just wish they would get a better push Chubb - played great Baker - played great Perriman- played great, maybe we gotta steal here Kitchens - except for 1 play, really good game calling.
How do the refs miss an Obvious holding call on Garrett at the end of the game, it was so obvious!
If they keep playing for GW, I see no reason why they shouldn’t keep him and Kitchens.

One other thing how do they completely miss a sack for Myles Garrett and do not even record it as a play ????
John 3:16 Jesus said "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."
Schobert seemed to make a difference, maybe just in terms of organization. I don't recall any blatant missteps or blown assignments

I’m gonna go re-watch ... will let u know later on the plays i can tell if it was man or zone ... ALTHOUGH I have no clue what Ridley has done to garnish such attention ... he had two great games in weeks 3 or 4 and has done SQUADOOSH since then ...
Who the heck is Calvin Ridley to garner such attention ...
I thought it was mostly zone but i don’t really pay attention to stuff like that first time through ... will be interesting to see ...
I actually played Ridley in my DFS lineup when i heard Ward was playing ... figured they’d stick him on Julio ... regardless of weather it was mostly zone with some Ward on Ridley mixed in or the other way around it KILLED ME IN DFS ... *LOL* ...
[ YO RISH
Julio had over 100 yards and a TD ... only his 2nd TD of the year ...
If u think we should do that every time to shut down a pure complimentary guy who averaged about 50 yards a game and scored one total TD ON A RUSH NOT EVEN A PASS over the last 4 games ...
If u think that’s SMART USAGE for of one of the top shutdown corners in the league .... OH VAY ...
Like i said .. u can’t emberass me ...
Its not like he had John Taylor across from him like Rice did .. or Swann/Stallworth or any of the great combos ..
U want to use Ward on rookies that have DONE DIDDLY THE LAST 4 WEEKS as opposed to covering one of the best WR’s in the game ... BRILLIANT!!!!
My comment was more of a general comment on that strategy for teams where it's appropriate. I like the idea of putting your best corner on the second best guy and eliminating that threat and giving extra attention toward a team's #1. I think that's smart. Debating which teams that is appropriate for is fine.
Again, move on. You obviously lost some sleep over this last night as you just sought me out. I let you get the last word in last night because it was mostly nonsensical. And embarrassing you had nothing to do with football. Move on.
LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...
No .. u said something MORONIC ... i pointed it out ...
U wanna go on a case by case basis .. WE AGREE ... if u said that instead of framing it with this game and us doing it to what is a PURE COMPLIMENTARY reciever witch is STUPID you would not have heard from me ....
Bottom line dude .. you don’t know enough to emberass me ... I just GAVE ONE EXAMPLE ... i may give one or two more .. thats more time than your worth but since u wanted to dance ... i’ll engage when you say REALLY REALLY STUPID STUFF ...
- Chubb with the longest run in Browns history. He had a great game (it looked like Hollywood was directing Chubb where to cut while blocking downfield).
I was incorrect. It was actually Callaway with the block and directing traffic. I saw the "1" on the jersey from my seats and assumed it was Hollywood.

Isn't that a concept that Belichick devised a couple of years ago that was lauded as a genius strategy. Not trying to get in the middle of a dispute, but I believe that strategy has been employed successfully since Belichick rolled it and was copied by other teams as the NFL is a copy cat league. Just my 2 cents

Ward struggled with size at times at OSU. The Indiana game against Simmie Cobbs comes to mind.
I think the plan worked pretty well. Lock down Ridley with Ward, scheme to limit Julio, and not allow any big plays.
You mess with the "Bull," you get the horns. Fiercely Independent.
After watching this game the only question I came away with is "What's not to like"? I mean I guess you could nitpick the trick play, but let's face it, when you have a double digit win trick plays that turn out like dog doo are much easier to stomach.
This was most certainly a team win. Every phase of the game was improved. It was most certainly key that our secondary was healthy enough to get players back. The results could have been much different had that not have happened.
It was fun to watch a game where our team looked prepared and executed in all phases of the game. For those saying we need more talent, I think you're right. This is year one in rebuilding after a complete tear down. But there's no doubt that after only one off season, Dorsey is the guy who has a chance to acquire the talent to build a dynasty.
My hats off to not only the players, but the coaches as well. A team this motivated and prepared is no accident. A team that executes on both sides of the ball and special teams isn't something that just "happens".
I have no idea if the Browns will look this way on the field going forward this season. We have a lot of very young talent and that often times leads to ups and downs. But regardless of that we've seen a glimpse of what this team can be. What this team will be when our youth gains some experience.
I think Timbuk 3 describes it best.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.
Did the announcers say that Ward was on Ridley all day or you guys just pick up on it watching? ...
Didn't say much but he was and did a great job holding him to 3 catches for 37 yards
John 3:16 Jesus said "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."
I'm pretty sure this picture was taken once they found out Hue was let go, not after yesterday's game.
This picture is everything we've been missing. In years past our QB's were outcasts....Weeden was never part of the team, I remember watching him sitting by himself on the sidelines....no one talking to him, not even coaches trying to coach him up. I am fairly certain everyone not named Josh Gordon HATED Johnny Manziel.
Baker Mayfield is a dude, as much as I think Hue Jackson is a dolt on gameday.....he was right....there is definitely something special to HEEE HEEEEEE
