Robinson has been a really nice surprise these past couple games. He certainly didn't seem like the guy that would stop the bleeding at the LT spot. I hope Harrison comes back beastly next season, with an offseason under his belt and a full camp to compete and show what he's got. If Harrison can take the spot back, I'd love to see Robinson slide over to RT. I hate jerking guys around the line, but we gotta put our 5 best out there.
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

Harrison was really bad the few weeks before he got benched. Going from really bad to averageish is a huge upgrade.

Harrison's issues are with the bull rush only. Dude needs to hit the weights hard! If he gains enough strength, his kick step is awesome! I'm talking elite LT type awesome. This is a guy the needs LeCharles Bently's phone number and a place to stay 5 mins away from LeChuck's gym in the offseason.
If, and it is a big if, he can gain enough strength, then I would agree moving Robinson to the right would solidify the line.
Hubbard would then be a swing tackle and his guaranteed money is not too high to keep him as just that. We would be talked about as having one of the best lines in football.
And I would have to say that since he went to a small school the odds of him adding strength are pretty good.
Let's face it, the skill set to play LT can't be taught. You either have those skills or you don't. And that's a very rare skill set. Adding strength would be the easiest thing to do do of them all. While he is somewhat of a project he's a very promising one.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.
Both Harrison and Robinson have the physical skill set to play LT. the question is will they learn the technique to utilize that skill set. Wilie is an excellent teacher.
TOO soon to state 100% but this is what I have seen.
Robinson finally has made the transition and can become that LT he was invested in so high for. If so I would love to see the transition to RT from Harrison. Hubbard remaining as the OT sixth man.
Corbett is key. Cause a football guy like Dorsey would be very odd on him missing on such a HIGH INVESTMENT in somebody like Corbett. I like what I have heard about Corbett playing the Center position. Tretter has filled the void Nicely as we all expected him to go down with an injury as it was his MO, surprisingly he has remained fairly healthy although he has been fighting that Ankle sprain. High Ankle Sprain might be there all year even with the bye week. But Corbett could be an upgrade for the future. We might have the OT answers already on our Rosters...but there is no harm in investing in the draft.

Robinson is 330#. For the long haul I just don't think he has the quickness that's needed. This is also his fourth year in the league, so it's only natural that he's much more polished than a UDFA from a small school.
I don't really know how this will all play out. But I see Joe Thomas as the prototypical NFL LT. Now that doesn't mean either of these guys will ever be JT. But Joe played at 313#. He was quick and used leverage, speed and technique. He wasn't a mauler. I think given some time that Harrison will be closer to that than Robinson will be.

Listening to the Dorsey press conference when Corbett's name was mentioned it sounded like he sees a swing guy. Able to play any of the three inside spots.
He would have to get an opportunity and seize it according to Dorsey.
The rest of this season will be audition time for the tackles.
Thought Robinson would be a better fit at RT. Maybe next season, Harrison bulks up and remains as LT and Robinson moves to RT and Hubbard becomes swing lineman.
True Robinson has some natural HEFT to him. But he is athletic and one of the fastest OTs to come to the combine. He actually has the quickness needed not only his 40 time but his 10 yard split.
I agree .. I'm willing to give Harrison 9 months of strength training, technique work, etc. Let's see where he is in a year
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."
I kind of consider 40 and 10 yard split times to wide receivers being fast. I mean that's a great asset if you're running in a straight line. But I'm not sure how that relates to being quick at cuts and positioning. I mean Jerry Rice ran a a 4.71 at the combine. Yet his ability to cut and run routes was what made him one of the greatest wide receivers of all time. Sometimes actual footwork is far more critical than straight line speed.
I just like the kid and have seen some great potential in him. I think he has a good chance of being a wonderful LT with some investment of time. I actually talked about him before the draft.

I’m going to be a glass half full guy and say that it is great we are talking about our high second round pick not starting in such calm voices. Lol.
At LT we have the overall #2 pick from that year playing, and looking pretty solid. We have a good looking rookie as his back up. We have a pair of very good guards and a good center.
Hubbard, is looking “OK”, and may be the place that Dorsey will concentrate, I don’t know.
Just throwing this in...early on in this year...I was reading some folks speculate that Tretter might be a better T candidate than others we had (early on anyway) because he was said to be the most athletic lineman on the roster.
Grateful...thanks for links...the following stands out...
Quote:
Greg Robinson continues to struggle at left tackle in both phases. He took two holding penalties on runs to his side and gave up a strip sack as part of multiple pressures surrendered on the day.
When I think of the phase of the game I'm most concerned about..protecting your QB is at the top of my list. When your offensive line fails to protect their QB, bad things happen.
This is fresh in my mind when I think about protecting your QB...
Just a note...35 sacks...but in our LAST GAME with of course Kitchens as our OC we had ZERO Sacks... -0-
that was with Robinson at LT and Hubbard at RT although we could/should be upgraded on both edges sooner than later.
Week one in the new O we did have 2 sacks against a high flying Chiefs team who were the 6th best team in creating Sacks in the NFL.
So Obviously if we get better in our OTs we will cut down on the sacks but also a big variable has been playing a Rookie QB although I think TT had a big time numbers being sacked approx. 14 times in his 3 games.
But our new coaching staff has made an effort to cut down on penalties as well as Sacks. 2 in 2games...vs 33 in 8 games. We were averaging over 4 sacks per week.
Now under new management we have cut down our penalties as well as averaging 1 sack per game.
Big time improvement if you ask me. Imagine if we upgrade on our OTs from the draft. So far we got two UDFA talents at the edge...and ONE 1st rounder that was deemed a bust until his FINAL SHOT with us. So far he is making the most out of it.

Sacks will be a very interesting stat to follow for the rest of the season. With the adjustments to the scheme that Kitchens has made so far, the o-line is being put in a better situation to succeed.
No offense Eotab old freind but I don't think you can use the last game as a benchmark for how our O-line protects our QB. The Falcons have a horrible defensive line and a bad defense overall.
Our oline has provided horrible push against decent to good dlines. Now to fight that Kitchens has been using double and triple TE formations to make up for it. Against the Falcons secondary it works but it might not when your asking for it to work against a real defense with shut down corners.
I do hope that as you say in the future I hope we draft some stud LT and RT since we both know and understand how important that position is.

Ive said it before, but it seems like Hue and Haley must have liked Harrison more than the other members of the staff

its obvious who baker likes, his input will carry alot of weight. Look for Greg to start

true. Baker (as he probably should) has been positive with Robinson

It appears the competition over who starts is much closer than some would like to admit.

Or he’s just not saying who is starting. NFL coaches guard information like this like it’s a state secret.
But you're talking about two below average LT's. There's nothing to be gained by keeping it a secret.
That’s what you and I think, but we’re not a paranoid NFL coach. Williams did the same thing before the last game and everyone knew Robinson was starting.
Sometimes it just isn't a secret and it's really just a competition.
By repeatedly saying it, he is pushing both of them. Robinson is more polished, but Harrison has WAY more upside if he can ever put some polish on things. If this is what it takes to get Harrison engaged so that he takes putting in the work seriously, so be it.
Browns is the Browns
... there goes Joe Thomas, the best there ever was in this game.
I actually do think the starting LT in this instance is something Hue would want to know (and Marvin, etc) ... you attack Robinson much differently than Harrison; nearly opposite.
