To tell you the truth I completely forgot he was even on the team. I haven't heard a single thing about him in forever.

I'd like that, but I want Griffin on the active roster.
He's always around the ball, and he and Harrison seem to make all the special teams tackles

My guess is that it would be Griffin Unck or Short.
I think Griffin is the better LB.
Welcome back, Joe, we missed you!

Steptoe has been our most productive punt returner this preseason. I think that he will stay on the team just to return punts and occasionally line up as a wide-out. I like him more than Cribbs as a punt returner. Cribbs is too big, and runs to straight up and down to be a punt returner.
I wish to wash my Irish wristwatch......

I have no bias against any school although I would always avoid michigan receivers and give extra consideration to Auburn RBs.
Harris was poed that the Browns picked him off of the Steelers practice squad (this was well documented in his interviews when he joined the Browns) and he just never wanted to become part of the team. I like Harris he has talent but if u have a few players of same ability wanting to be a Brown and one player of the same ability that doesnt want to be a Brown guess who is gonna get cut?

What about Minter? Has this guy even seen the field once? He was highly touted, yet I've never heard anything about him except that he was injured last year. Is he the next Perkins?
Minter just hit the practice field. He has looked good so far, but it may or may not be a case of to little to late?

I think Purcell and Steptoe gotta stay.
Also, Kris Griffin has been Dynamite I think. I think them 3 should stay around.
You do realize that Griffin is a LB and Hamilton is a safety?
yeah griffin has outplayed hamilton imo

Its a matter of tough cuts this year but I'll try to do it the way the coaches do it...Find out who you want on the 53...and cut the rest.
Offense: (24) QB - Frye, DA n BQ (3) RB/FB - Jamal Lewis, Jason Wright, Harrison, Vickers. (4) TE - KW2, Heiden n Krause (3) OL - JT, Steiny, Hank, McK, Shaffer, Freidman, Butler, Sowells n Dorsey (9) WR - BE, JJ, Carter, Cribbs n Wilson (5)
Defense: (24) DL - Roye, TW, Robaire, Fraser, Shaun, Kelley (6) LBs - Wimbley, DQ, AD, Peak, WMcG, Leon, Thompson n McMillan (8) CBs - Bodden, EWright, McDonald, Holley, Minter, Baxter (6) Safeties - Pool, Jones, Hamilton, LeSueur (4)
Special teams: (5) Dawson, Zastudil, Ponti, Barclay, Dinkens
Folks this adds up to 53 and thats with Bentley starting on the PUP list and Tucker not counting for 4 games. Yes there are a few like LeSueur that are on that list...but very few as ??? When Tucker comes back Dorsey goes. If Bentley is read after 6 -8 games Friedman will go. Possibly Dinkens is that 3rd TE n ST player so you can add another by cutting Krause.
Practice squad: Pittman, Purcell, Steptoe, Ali - should get on there.
Real tough cuts: Short, Unck, Parker, Griffin, BaBa all are on that bubble to take a spot of the one or two I was incorrect on.

Friedman is very valuable on ST. Does anyone ever watch him? I don't think he is going anywhere IMO. He is the first one off the bench at 3 positions. But then again you never know.

I think I'd rather keep Griffin than Baxter at this point. I just have SERIOUS doubts about Baxter coming back healthy enough to give us a full season.
Keep Griffin and cut Baxter or send him to the IR.

I think I was unduly harsh on Lennie after the first pre-season game, but he's looked really good since then and I would not like to lose him and don't think we will, especially with LCB on the PUP. As you said, he's a beast on STs and can fill three positions.

"Friedman is very valuable on ST. Does anyone ever watch him?"
I never noticed him as a special teamer...then again only an OLman's wife and a couple of Bundren enthusiasts would
As mentioned we know Tucker is coming back...I think Dorsey is the first to go. Tucker also has been practicing at LG, RG and Center. If Shaffer and McKinney are implanted at their posititions then Tucker becomes the Super Sub of the Interior making Friedman's position less valuable.
My premise was if and when Bentley joins the team after the 6th game...could be the 7th 8th or 9th game. Who goes? possibly a DB, LB or DLman of lesser value than Friedman and we go to 10 OLmen or we cut ties with Friedman...the only other OLman would be McKinney.
Its the best position our OL could be in...worrying who gets cut

Who was the 10th guy to get the ax to get the roster down? It's past 4 PM.
I was thinking maybe an Anderson trade was in the works for today, which was why we didn't release 10 people.

I don't think he ever counted on the roster - I don't remember any announcement taking him off the PuP list clearing him fit for contact and practice.
So I don't think he was the 10th.
When does Tucker count or I should say not count as a Roster guy? After the last pre-season game?

Tucker: As part of the last cuts, Tucker will likely go to the Inactive-Suspended list and that is what will get him off of the regular 53. As for Bentley... we couldn't move him to PUP if he was already on it Not having been cleared to practice is different than PUP. Besides: http://blog.cleveland.com/sports/2007/08/cleveland_browns_place_center.html Quote:
The Browns got to the mandatory 75-player roster limit by placing center LeCharles Bentley on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list.
