OK, so I watched some commercials for some reason, and almost all of them have an "actor portrayal" disclaimer at the bottom of the screen.
Advil is the latest one, and I just saw it,
They show a man playing with his "son". Actor portrayal. They show him getting out of bed with apparent back pain. Actor portrayal.
Is this really necessary? I mean,. do people think that commercials are people with cameras in their homes, reacting to their products the way they want?
What idiot lawsuit cause this lunacy?
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
John 14:19 Jesus said: Because I live, you also will live.
the biggest culprit of actor portrayals is actually the chevy commercials. the ones where "hey, we stole your car, and decided to show you this brand new malibu instead!!".
or worse, where a bunch of "normal" people seem to be having a conversation in the middle of a highway exit ramp talking about the different awards that particular vehicle won.
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
It is a part of truth in advertising law. What you are seeing is a dramatization, not an real case of a product actually having the effect they show it to have.
Otherwise, if the product does not actually work at all, a user could sue because the ad showed it working. Using actor portrayal gets around that.
Listen very carefully to the language used. MAY help. MIGHT alleviate symptoms. CAN assist. Possibilities, not certainties.
Anybody remember the Frito Bandito in the 70’s? A cartoon character. The Mexican gov’t sued Frito Lay and they cut the commercial ads. So this is really nothing new.
"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." Thomas Jefferson.

Its all about being sued. If they don't put that on there, they are (according to the law) false advertising.
Think of like the red bull cartoon commercials. They had a MASSIVE class action lawsuit because the commercials showed a cartoon character getting wings after he drank redbull, and their slogan was "redbull gives you wings".
If I remember correctly, they were forced to provide anyone who made a claim a case of redbull per household.

They should have sent them a set of plastic wings.
From probably my favorite Simpsons episode of all time . . .
Kent Brockman (news anchor): But first, Springfield has come down with a fever, football fever, brought on by the biggest game of the year. The pigskin classic between the Shelbyville Sharks and our own Springfield Atoms. If you have the fever, there's only one cure. Take two tickets and see the game Sunday morning.
TV Voiceover: Warning: tickets should not be taken internally.
Homer: See? Because of me, now they have a warning.

"I like Frito's corn cheeps, I love them, I do.... I want Frito's corn cheeps, I'll get them from you-"
So did the little chihuahua doggie for Taco Bell get a pass? My friends and I loved the Frito Bandido ads, and I never knew they got sued over them. But the pup may have been arguably worse. Did they take him to court for "Quiero Taco Bell!" (Not sure if that was correct.) Governments lack anything better to do? Or was this a moneymaker kinda thang?

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."
OK I admit this is an actor portrayal of me, but the Resemblance is uncanny.
You need a better actor. That one has no beard, and no Browns gear.
