wow, I didn't realize the Steelers had such a crazy lineup left to go...
Chargers, Patriots, Saints... could we catch them for division?
LOL it's fun to dream even tho we'd lose tie breaker anyways I think.
EDIT: I chose us as winning all (as a best case scenario) and came out with us tying Steelers at 9-6-1 and losing tie breaker for division. Colts (11-5) and Chargers (12-4) get in as the wildcards.
If this happens I might have an aneurysm thinking about the BS tie week 1 and Raiders rip off haha. Still prefer it to losing obviously :-P

Now most of my time will be consumed with this
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

The Colts really ain't got much besides Luck and Hilton. Reich has done a pretty good job. An 11-5 finish should get him coach of the year.
How about the Texans started 0-3, won 8 in a row, finish season 1-4.
Everyone last year was upset we didn't draft him, I still don't think he's that good. Well, i should just say Baker is better.

Watson's speed and acceleration are incredible, and his deep ball is better than Baker's. But I tend to agree at this point

I should have put Watson's name in there. I deleted the sentence that had his name, but you were picking up what I was putting down.

I think he'll get better as he gets more rhythm with his recievers,He def had that at OU but I don't think I've seen him connect on a long ball yet..granted he's made some laser 20-25 yard throws, so its not arm strength issue.

Working on this, we have very little margin of error obviously. We need to root against teams like Tennessee, Indy, and Baltimore

Pittsburgh has LA, OAk, Saints, NE and Cincy left. If we win out, and they lose to LA, beat OAK, lose to NE, lose to NO, and anb beat Cincy they get the tie breaker in that scenario.
It would have come down to us losing OAK and the tie game for the division. But we would have a SLIGHT AND I MEAN SLIGHT chance at wildcard depending on a lot of other factors.
ALL of this means nothing, if we don't beat Hou this week.

WE win out and we likely secure final playoff spot. Colts are the biggest threat but I see them losing at least 2 and if they do and we keep winning then we will see but first things first. This is a playoff game against the Texans.

The Raiders game looms very large now

U think Bake’s better than Watson right now today? ... I think since the lights came on for Baker a few games back, the only direction is up now. I think we are watching the rookie season of a first ballot HOF rookie when all is said and done. JMHO and nothing more.

U think Bake’s better than Watson right now today? ... Today? No. But I think he will be, and not too far down the road. I like his fire. And Watson almost crippling himself without contact is troubling. Also, at least in my mind (where no man has gone before) if we don’t make that trade w Houston so they can get Watson, then we don’t end up with Ward. And we don’t take Osweiler off their hands which means no Chubb. So overall, as much as I was against drafting Bake, I am glad we have him.

Thats reasonable .. i can see that and the best part is .. it may actually be true ... Not sure if u know but Watson broke a couple ribs in like week 5 ... pretty sure it came in a 2 play span in one series and 1 on the very next series .... i’ll Never forget it ... that may be why he had a “crippling” moment during a game for no appearant reason .. not sure if you’ve ever broke ribs but that can happen .. They were by the goal line and he tried to get in on the first two .. he improvised and created the contact and man did he LOSE BIGTIME ... on back to back plays ... LOVE THE HEART but he’s a MORON and he’s not stupid ... he’s a real smart and football smart kid ... his competiveness wins over his brains ... he was shaken after both ... Then the next series there down there again ... Billy calls a qb sweep from like the 3 .. old fashioned everyone pulls qb sweep ... well at the goal line amazingly enough not everyone got blocked and Watson shied away from but took the contact .. u could see him brace for it and thats the worst thing u can do ... sad part is that Monday night he slid some but not all the time ... hes not gonna last if he doesn’t slide ... hes a real smart dude .. football smart also .. he needs to let his brain win in the heat of the moment .. theres no td or 3 yards worth the risk .. Bake’s got a ways to go ... he’s got a shot .. a real legite shot to be as good as he wants ... There different ... both LEADERS ... Monday night first time i ever heard it ... Billy told them at the combine in the lunch room all the other dudes would naturally gravitate to DeShaun .. they knew then .... our staffs “hee hee” moment .. Those saying Bakes better today .... ....

I think the question should not be who is better, but which quarterback would you want to build your franchise around. Whether we are comparing to Watson or 30 other starting quarterbacks in the NFL the answer is the same.

How about this right now: Would you rather have Wentz or Mayfield?

I think the question should not be who is better, but which quarterback would you want to build your franchise around. That's actually part of my thinking as well, though I was not explicit. The "fire" I spoke of is part of this. And since I have you on the line, so to speak, early returns are showing that you had the correct read on Mayfield. It is early yet, but I like what I see. When I am wrong I will admit it, and right now it looks as though I was wrong.

No touch on the deep ball?
I think in the past there has been problem with time allotment on the deep ball. But he has excellent touch on the deep ball. I mean probably not perfect...but there is not much in my memory storage of an OH NO nature on his throws. But just recently I remember him rolling out to the right and on the full run threw a strike 40 yards (30 on paper) to Higgins with a small window...but yep, that touch has to be improved upon...lol
Can you point out some specific play that comes to your mind? I've seen a lot of misses with Calloway one of our few Deep threats and I've seen drops on Calloway's part more so than missed touch on Baker. The other deep threat we got is Njoku. I do agree with you we have not connected on the long ball for TDs to what is expected of us. So the more I think of it, it is something needed for improvement.
Up until the firings we really didn't look to make the attempts for successful Long ball play as I think they (coaches, Hue n Haley) thought there was too much risk in it.
Also it appeared that our Offense was geared for TT more so than Baker and TT just did not have the arm at all for the long ball. They kept the same Offense for Baker as we did a lot of Dink and Dunk. Since the firing we finally have opened the game up and have been letting Baker loose for the deeper routes. I'm waiting for a nice Sluggo route for Perriman.
Also remember Baker was not allowed to have reps with any of the ONES so there was absolutely no rapoire with WRs such as Landry and others.
Its actually something for us to look forward to as a show of improvement.
So I went from complete disagreement slowly talking myself into a complete agreement but trust me, the kid has excellent touch its just the time to work on so much of this stuff is the preseason and training camp. The worst decision and Said so from the get go on Hue's part was not letting Baker work with the ONES in that time. There was valuable time not utilized. The more I look back at this, Hue did not like Baker much and his total commitment to TT was over the top. I can't wait for next season as was noted his improvement and success rate on the Long passes will only get better.

we also need a legit deep threat WR. We're trying to go long to Landry, Ratley, and Callaway ... no height/strength there

Because of the tie, it makes things a little easier to figure out. We basically need to: 1) Win out. That's probably the toughest thing we have facing us. 2) The Ravens need to lose twice. They play us once, and if #1 happens, we just need the Chargers or Chiefs to come through and win one as well. This is actually not that far-fetched. 3) The Colts need to lose twice, which might be the harder task. Jags, Texans, Cowboys, Giants and Titans isn't too brutal for them. Best chances are probably Texans and Titans, but that's a tall order. 4) Then we just need Miami, Denver and Tennessee to lose at least once, which also isn't too big of an ask. The Titans probably have the easiest schedule there, plus we will really need them to beat the Colts the final week of the season, so here's hoping they drop one before hand, and it's down to them fighting for their playoff lives against the Colts, while they hope we lose (and don't).

U think Bake’s better than Watson right now today? ... You didn't ask me, but I'll give it a go anyway. Let's put it this way, I wouldn't trade Mayfield for Watson if the deal was proposed by the Texans.....and I imagine Dorsey wouldn't either. Is Watson more advanced right now?? Probably, but not by much, and he has over a year of NFL coaching/experience over Baker. I get being skeptical, but if the trajectory continues Mayfield's rookie season will be either as impressive or perhaps more so than Wentz, Goff, Watson, etc considering the supporting cast differences that each QB inherited.
Against logic, the most effective armor is willful ignorance.

I went through and I have the COLTS taking the last play off spot. My wild card games ended up: Colts @ NE Chargers @ Pitt
This is with a Win for HOU this weekend. If the Browns win - NE and HOU switch places.
in the NFC I have SEA @ CHI and MIN @ DALLAS ...
It's a nice web site / tool - thanks for sharing.

But in addition to their play on the field - Baker has a leadership intangible that is off the charts imo. He's already the leader of the offense and guys play better for him. It's impossible to compare Watson and Baker at the moment. Too little game film on either guy - and Watson is supremely dangerous as a runner. . . but give Baker an elite WR like Hopkins? I think you'd see some fireworks.
The more things change the more they stay the same.
