From what I've seen reported the hotel refused to hand over the video as is their policy. So while they may have "known about the incident", both they and Hunt have said he lied to them about what transpired. From watching the video it looks like a lot of people who were there were a part of Hunt's entourage.

So up until you actually have some evidence showing guilt, you have a he said/she said with a lot of witnesses backing up what he said.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I say we would be insane not to sign him. I dont condone what happened but he did not beat the crap out of her like people are trying to say. There was a skirmish that this woman was involved in as much as anybody and there was lots of pushing and shoving and she was the aggressor in a lot of it. If we could get Kareem Hunt for nothing, we gotta go for it . I mean, Chubb, Hunt and Duke? WOW!!

No team claimed him. He’s a free agent.

I’d imagine he’ll be signed in the offseason for cheap, as long as that 2nd incident doesn’t get worse (and there’s no 3rd incident). It’s only fair he gets a 2nd chance, he pushed and moderately kicked that woman, which wasn’t his girlfriend (not “domestic violence”). I didn’t see a punch or vicious kick, which doesn’t absolve him from this backlash, I’m happy he was released and nobody claimed him. He SHOULD sit the year off.

There are other incidents involving Kareem Hunt as well:

Man told Kansas City Police in January that Kareem Hunt kicked him in bar fight

Kareem Hunt apparently has a habit of kicking people when they’re down, literally.

Hunt, who was caught on tape in February shoving a woman to the ground and kicking her, was also accused of kicking a man who had been knocked down in a bar fight in January.

According to a report filed with the Kansas City Police, a man said he was attacked by Hunt and former Chiefs running back George Atkinson in a Kansas City bar hours after the Chiefs lost to the Titans in a playoff game on January 6. The report says the man told police he was “jumped,” by a group of men that included Atkinson and Hunt, and “was struck on his body and head multiple times with the majority of blows being kicks from the suspects,” according to William Joy of KMBC.

So in January a man told police Hunt kicked him, and then in February Hunt was caught on surveillance video kicking a woman. And then in June Hunt was accused of punching a man.

Although Hunt sought in his ESPN interview to portray his actions in February as out of character, these other incidents would seem to suggest that all of Hunt’s actions are part of a pattern. Hunt has so far managed to avoid getting arrested, but he is now out of the NFL and will likely face significant league discipline before he is able to play again.

There is now a "3rd incident" of a man reporting to police in January that Hunt and another Chiefs player assaulted him. The police report is from January too, so it isn't piling on after the fact.

About the Browns considering making a waiver claim:

The waiver claim didn't happen, but I wonder how much truth there was to that. I'm guessing not much. I wonder how much of that was just trying to sniff out leaks and generally throw out a curve ball. See: Condoleezza Rice coaching rumors

Report: Cleveland Police department explores handling of Kareem Hunt case
Posted by Mike Florio on December 5, 2018, 8:34 PM EST

The Cleveland Police Department failed to do a complete investigation regarding the assault allegation made against former Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt in February. The Cleveland Police Department is now investigation its handling of the case.

According to TMZ the Cleveland Police Department has launched an internal probe regarding the case.

“Following an internal review, it has been determined that in February 2018 a member of the Cleveland Division of Police provided a copy of the police report involving the February 10, 2018 assault incident at The 9 [hotel] to a representative from the National Football League,” the department said in a statement issued to TMZ. “The report did not go through the official public records request process.”

This statement suggests that someone skirted the regular procedures, and it harmonizes the NFL’s position on the matter with a Tuesday report from the Kansas City Star that an official records request wasn’t submitted by the NFL until Friday, the day that the video of the assault emerged on TMZ. (Some in the media have suggested that the report regarding the absence of an official records request was irresponsible; the new statement from the Cleveland Police Department confirms and validates the report. The NFL indeed didn’t make an official request, but it did somehow get its hands on the paperwork.)

The Cleveland Police Department also said that it is examining the “overall response” to the incident. Though no specifics were provided, it’s possible that the Cleveland Police Department will investigate the decision not to request the video of the incident on the basis that the alleged crime was a misdemeanor not a felony.

A crime is a crime is a crime, and it’s possible that someone decided to try to keep the video permanently out of view by not requesting it from the hotel. That plan became derailed when TMZ got the video, presumably by paying for it.

If this is true, the NFL should be fined and someone should be in jail for interfering with a police investigation and obstruction.

I agree. This is interesting now

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."
