Yup or any type of replacement for Collins mainly. NOT replace Joe.

People have been praising the offensive line...I think its Baker's movement in the pocket, honestly.

I dunno, there were a couple plays where the pocket collapsed,

But he had a LOT of time to make throws.

Sure, he pulls the trigger quick, but there were times when he had to look around because people were covered, and roll out and such.

Our OL was MUCH better than their OL. We collapsed their pocket all day.

There is a bit to what you say.. he's learning to step up, step to the side, avoid the rush and deliver.

It's about the QB. Always been that way.

It’s actually amazing watching him navigate the pocket considering hes a rookie. He does it better than any rookie I can remember

Not really that upset about the game today. We played one of the best teams in the league at their place. Baker is going to have growing pains but the future still looks bright.

We have a GM that knows what he is doing. With some good FA signings and draft this off season, Browns should be a playoff contender next season.

Agreed. Right now the Texans can beat anybody in the league especially at home. Their O can keep up with anyone and they actually play D, as good a D as any team. This team, IMO, is a legitimate SB contender and I wouldn't be surprised if they make it.

Fumble happened right in front of me... I thought thwt too... Calloway had a great catch and run for TD thwt was called back for holding... then he has that one that he fumbled... he laid on the ground for awhile distraught... baker was the first to see him after the play and gave him good encouragement... great leadership...

If we replace Gregg William's then Jamie Collins is gone...simple enough...For some reason he loves Jamie, which I never found why he is so fond of him.

Dorsey has good judgment for players mores than anybody we have had recently, if not since our Return. But Bonefish is right that this game saw us get punked by a better team; not our best effort or product, but It will serve as a critical signpost for Dorsey to do some triage by positions for FA and draft. If we do not need a high pick QB for a change, the draft and FA are wide open. We need pieces, but not everywhere and not as many IMO.

This had nasty edges on it. Tackling, finishing sacks, tackling, penalties, and tackling. The refs didn't bring nearly enough Texan flags. But we will find a few things to discuss during films; that should be spirited conversation. BM is human; our OC made smart adjustments.
We looked stupid bad in the first half. This was nasty to suffer through.

They showed a list of how the Texans had treated the last 5 rookie QBs they had faced, and it was rather ugly.

Baker learned some things today. I guarantee it.

IMO, all of our LBs are too slow

First off I would not be surprised to see the Texans go VERY Deep into the Playoffs.
Kitchens' Playbook is just too small.
They were ready for it and it showed.
As an interim Rookie OC he's doing well but...

Baker shows real potential and yes he got schooled!
I was afraid to watch the second half but he bounced right back.
As noted before in this Thread his talk w/ Callaway after the strip was a exactly what AC needed, at exactly the right time.
These little things are why BM is such a force in the locker room.

MG got 1 1/2 Sacks after being held pretty much all day.
That first Sack was a thing of beauty!

Baker is strong, slippery and definitely has that 'feel the pressure' thing going on! Second half his receivers were much more aware of watching him for scramble directions. He's legit and it's nice that QB will not be a factor in the Draft discussions.

Bad loss but a 'Teachable Moment' type of game.
Man I hate that term but...
How Williams bounces back will determine if he stays at HC.

I agree: we need some more depth/wrinkles to the playbook now. And it was a great "learning game" for our young guys. That's the only way to improve IMO

Thoughts:

We were just outmatched talent wise - that was plain to see.

Baker was confused the 1st half, made some throws that were just awful.

(who was that 41 that picked him off - holy cow is that dude tall as heck lol)

We started to come around in the 2nd half, but that could have been from the Texans taking their foot off the peddle.

Callaway - man, you can see the flash, but you can see how raw he is. RUN LEFT TOWARD THE PYLON bro. He seemed to run right into the defender.

That was a BS hold call. They gonna call that on our TD play, but not call Myles get raped all day. Ok Refs, that's how its going to be. Start whacking QBs. who cares.

I did see a big difference in talent and SPEED between the two teams. They were at a different level IMO.

Callaway? Yeah, he's not smart. But he might improve. I think he's had a decent rookie year.

Welcome to the NFL Baker.. I believe in this kid and Chubb and Callaway and nothing that happened yesterday has changed my mind.

I also Believe more and more in Gregg Williams and Kitchens. Why? Adjustments.

We played one hell of a team yesterday and they kicked our butts. Move on.

j/c:

My thoughts:

- Did not see the 1st quarter, or most of it. More leaves outside than I anticipated.

- Did not expect to win, Houston a very good team.

- Those picks were on Bake. It's going to happen, every QB has a stretch that is an absolute turd. One was under-thrown, one route was jumped, and one was over-thrown. The last one, Bake had about 20 yards of space to run but threw it too far to a guy that was not open. Bad choice.

- I really like how those picks did not change his game. Bake kept playing the way Bake plays, and that is good to see. A lot of QBs, especially young ones, would tone it down. We were down and a scared QB was not going to help us. Kessler would have stopped heaving it 10 yards downfield and started heaving it 2 yards downfield.

- Penalties came back. The hold by Robinson that negated the Calloway TD, meh. Looking at it, you can see the hold. It was not much of one, and not for long, but it was there. Then you compare it to the ones on Garrett that don't get called. All the ones where the OL has his arm around Garrett's neck from behind because he got past him so fast. Then you think, that's the one you feel like calling?

- Tackling sucks. How many times did they escape a loss because our tackling sucked?

- We came up against a really good team and did not quit. That says something. This can be learning experience.

- No sacks? Wow. With Watt and Clowney, that was a legitimate concern.

We could use a DE with more wiggle/bend to contain mobile QBs like Watson. I wonder if Ogbah could bulk up enough to be able to hold up inside.

While we didn't allow a sack, pressure was leading Baker to get the ball out quick. That front is pretty good and is a big part of his bad 1st half.

They certainly were gashing us early. Their zone game is serious. Too many gaps early on

The Texans are a very well coached team, rarely screwing up.

What is the difference?...EXPERIENCE...

......especially the experience level of the coaching staff..same HC/OC and DC (2018 being their 5 season together)

The Browns defense looked so flat...kind of like some guys are ready for the season to end. Browns need some stud LBers with leadership qualities.

LBers tend to establish a defense's attitude.

IMO the Texans are a very good team that could easily go to their 1st SB. They have a lot of talent, are well coached and play D something the other top contenders don't do very well. Time will tell.

As we all know, the shortest distance between two points is a straight line. But that's simply not how any of this works. There are bumps, bruises and growing pains along the way. Yesterday we saw those in full glory. The fact that anyone was surprised by this is more stunning than the actual game itself. As much as we hate to see it, it's to be expected. In the grand scheme of things it's not even what I would call a set back in my eyes. More of a reality check.

Our team isn't worse than last week, or the week before that. Our players didn't suddenly take a step back. Our opponent was simply much better. It was simply a gauge of where we are and how far we have to go.

With a team like ours, when your team leaders are mainly rookies and second year players, when things go south, they can go south quickly. It's the nature of the beast. When things go wrong, you get a cumulative, snowball effect.

Our team will be fine. We are on the right path and have a great young QB. We have the right players at key positions with which to build a team around. The key building blocks at key positions are there.

We didn't come back and win the game today. That was simply too much to ask from such a young team. But our second half looked better than our first half. The team didn't crumble based on a poor first half. Baker didn't throw in the towel after the interceptions.

It's my honest belief that Houston is very good at disguising their D coverage and Baker saw some wrinkles on defense he never saw before today. A learning and growing experience. After half time he responded much better to what he was seeing.

I have to say that overall I'm somewhat surprised by the comments in this thread today. There aren't as many melt downs as I expected. Not as many rants as I expected to see. Maybe not only is our team growing as they go, but maybe the fan base is too.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Even after this game Baker impressed me. Not what we are use to seeing at the Qb position in the past.
This kid has it. He just does.
One more year worth of building and folks I'm telling ya.....we gonna have some fun in 2019 !!!
Go on now and buy the Yetis because ya not gonna want to leave the beach to get more ice while at on the Isle. Water is gonna be sparkling clear and warm while the sun will be so bright Oakley stocks will be ringing the wall street bell on their own.
