Trump can ignore environmental laws to build border wall after Supreme Court declines to hear challenge-The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday said it would not hear a challenge to the Trump administration's proposed border wall brought by environmental groups who say construction could threaten endangered animals and violate environmental laws. -The groups asked the court to reject a 1996 law signed by President Bill Clinton that provides the executive branch with sweeping powers to waive environmental laws if those laws impede construction of barriers and roads near the border. https://www.cnbc.com/2018/12/03/supreme-...order-wall.html

When is Mexico footing the cost to build the wall???? That was the campaign pledge .... why is he failing to deliver his promise?
The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.

He has delivered on many, many of his campaign promises and I have zero problem with building the wall and finding a way to get Mexico to pay for it down the road if possible. Rome wasn't built in a day you know.

Couple of things:
1. Just because Mexico won’t put up the Capital up front doesn’t mean long term they won’t pay for it. 2. Why would we want “Ignore” laws to stop people from breaking the law, how stupid is that? 3. We are 2 years in and the wall hasn’t started yet…..likelihood it gets started or finished during 45’s term….Very small

The good news for those who wish to see a wall built along the U.S.–Mexican border is that U.S. Customs and Border Protection has built seven miles of 30-foot-high wall in the past few months, and roughly 30 more miles of high fencing are slated for construction.

We are not ignoring laws. A 1996 law signed by President Bill Clinton provides the executive branch with sweeping powers to waive environmental laws if those laws impede construction of barriers and roads near the border. That right there is THE LAW.

Unless Mexico is cutting the check, it’s the American people footing the bill for a stupid ass wall.
No. And with a dem controlled house, he won’t be getting one.

You talk a good tune but the reality is the WALL is needed as we are already spending billions with the Military being there and increasing border security by other means.
As far as the Dems controlling the House, they said that Nan Nan didn't have a chance of being Speaker of the House but Trump stepped in and said she is who he wants. The rest is history.

The wall is not needed. We’re spending millions on a political stunt, and a wall won’t decrease border security spending, it will increase it tenfold.
And again, unless Mexico is cutting the check, he American people are spending the money for a wall that won’t work.
No. The dream of a wall will remain exactly that; a dream.

No. And with a dem controlled house, he won’t be getting one. It's not a stupid ass wall. I am all for immigration. I like Mexicans. They are hard working, Christian people. I wish many in this country had the same work ethic. They might find themselves in better position. I am open to loosening the Visa permits granted, but we can't continue to have people entering illegally. You do agree that people entering should be required to follow the law, no? I think that is a fair question. No?

Except that isn’t the question.
The question is trump said Mexico would pay for the wall, so why isn’t Mexico cutting the check?
I do not support the wall. Screw that wall. Obama didn’t have a problem deporting people out of the country. As a matter of fact, under Obama, more people left the country than entered.
So why does trump need a wall in order to do what Obama did?
Sounds like a lack of leadership problem to me.

The fact that you equated Obama deporting illegals with citizens instead is why you have to sit at the kiddie table while the adults have real conversations.

Real conversations? When you gonna start that? Your statement was, "As a matter of fact, under Obama, more people left the country than entered." Where does it say deport or illegals anywhere. Please stop already.

Sounds like Voodoo math to play off 41.
I's rather not allow them in rather than chase them down time and time again. How much does that cost?
Either you are for legal entry or you aren't.
Which is it?
I don't want some BS spin. Your choice is legal or illegal. It's a simple question that only requires a simple answer.

You’re asking for a black and white answer over something I’ve already answered repeatedly.
I mean think about what you’re trying to trap me in.
I’m for legal entry, that’s never been up for debate. But you’re trying to link that with “well, if I’m for legal entry, why not support the wall?”
Please save it for somebody like 40. My support for legal entry has nothing to do with a stupid ass wall. Stop playing games.

I’m staying about 30 miles from a border crossing town in Arizona. I’ve been here for a couple of months. So, I’ve gotten a good vibe for what the people here think about the current situation. This isn’t really about the wall, but it’s the most current thread on the border issues. The people here do not like the political show with the troops and the barbed wire fences going up.
They have a good back and forth situation between Americans and Mexicans at the border. Lots of crossover, lots of shopping, eating at each other’s restaurants, etc. When troops show up and scary looking fencing starts being put up, it definitely affects the travel back and forth and hurts the relationships the two sides have forged.
I will say, there is concern, as would be completely normal, about a large wave of immigrants trying to come in all at once to these small communities, but the overall view here is that what is happening now is just political posturing, and it’s not welcome.

I appreciate personal observations and first-hand accounts like these much, much more than someone else's uninformed tv-fueled talking points.
Thank you.

I know you try to stay away from this section, but regardless on how you lean, it would be nice if you gave us intel just like you did.
You’re the only one who lives close to the area, so the rest of us are literally going off of reports and such.
What you stated is something I don’t think has been stated at all in these threads- the relationship people have who live around the borders. Thanks for educating us.

What I read about issues in Arizona were mostly from Native Americans who have land on both sides of the border and the wall would interfere with their tribal rituals. So there are those concerns that would need to be worked out. From what I read also the main place the caravan wants to go is California because of the Sanctuary cities and free stuff such as housing, medical and education as well as catch and release. Texas also has a different view on the wall a lot of the ranchers are fed up with the trafficking going on across their property.
