Breaking down the games solely on current standings. The Browns obviously have 5 wins. (Yes we’re going to win more. But that’s to discuss in other weeks) So here’s the rest of the schedule for potential draft slot reference only.
Jets have 4 wins. Would be nice to see them beat Houston. The Cards have 3. They won’t catch us. So let’s hope the 4 win Falcons take them. The Bucs have 5 wins. The Ravens are the enemy. Let’s hope they get crushed. The Lions have 5 wins. The Bills 4. So it’s a toss up. The Giants sit at 5 wins. I hope they get over on the Titans. The Pack has 5. Let’s hope for 6 with a win over the monsters of the midway. Bengals have 5 wins. The Raiders are up and down. Let’s hope they go down this weekend. Redskins have 6. The Jags 4. It’s a toss up as far as to how this game will effect our draft slot. The Vikings have 6 wins. Let’s hope for 7 after they tangle with the Dolphins. Eagles can get to 7 wins with a victory over the Rams.

I want the giants to win out cause I’m tired of people ragging on Eli.

The issue I have there is if they do win out Barkley is going to win OROY. Which is a sham. Not to discredit his talent or what he’s done but everyone knows the easiest position to transition from college to the pros in is RB. If Baker gets us another 2 wins he should win OROY running away. Playing at the level he has at the most difficult position in sports... this shouldn’t even be a fight. Sadly the NY market and the desire for the NFL to push teams like the Giants to the forefront will cost Baker what’s rightfully his.

I don’t think he wins OROY over baker unless baker has a catastrophic performance these last 3 games.
To me, the award was bakers to lose when he came in on Thursday night football and delivered a come from behind win. He’s been doing nothing but ascending every since.

I agree... it would take a total flop the final 3 games or injury for Baker to lose the award now. If Barkley wins, total farce.
If we do flop and we lose to Denver, at least Lindsay should have a good game... And hard to give the award to Barkley when undrafted Lindsay is out performing Barkley...
I'd almost give the award to Lindsay over Barkley now anyway... Lindsay had to win that job.

I think Barkley already has it locked up. Baker didn’t play enough games.

Or 10X the population in NY voting for Barkley than voting for Cleveland? And the NY media giving Barkley 10X the amount of air time to casual fans? Yeah, I easily can see Barkley winning it.

Is this wishing for Draft position??
You mention some NFC teams, so it can't be for playoff ramifications, right?

Only games I care about right now are:
Dawgs beating the donks
boys beating the Colts
Bucs beating the rats
Giants beating the Titans
Vikes beating the Phins
And Pats beating pit
Go Browns!
(Hate rooting for the boys but I do what I gotta do.)

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

You mention some NFC teams, so it can't be for playoff ramifications, right? Yes. I know there’s a lot of football yet to be played. And I want us to win. That said this upcoming draft may be the last one in the top 15 for awhile (fingers crossed). The better slot we have the better talent we’ll have cracks at. So I’m not rooting for the Browns to end up with a worse record. I’m rooting for others to improve our standings through their own wins.

You should be rooting for the Browns to make the playoffs, and win the super bowl, this year.
They are still alive.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

I think it's still possible, it could work out this way, the Browns get the 2nd wild card at 8-7-1 behind the steelers at 8-7-1. The Browns beat the Texans, The Browns beat the Sd/LA chargers The Browns beat Kansas City The Browns beat New Orleans in the Super Bowl, Being the only 8-7-1 team to win a super bowl, and unknown if the only Super Bowl winner to beat 4 teams they had lost to in the regular season, in their playoff run. Not sure how the rules work, ^ this scenario starts with giving the 8-7-1 division winner Steelers a seeding advantage over the 12-4 chiefs because the chiefs would be a wild card behind the Chargers division winners. And the <would be> 11-5 Texans a seeding advantage over the same 12-4 Chiefs because the Texans would be division winners. To start the first matchup, Browns vs Texans. (the 12-4 Patriots, and 13-3 Chargers would get the bye)

i certainly don't want to see us play in Houston again this year... but if it means the playoffs

That's actually a longer shot than winning the division outright from what I understand. For the WC, Indy, Tenn, and Miami all have to lose 2 out of 3. With Indy playing Tenn still, that means one of those teams already is going to have 1 win (more than likely they wont tie). Indy has Dallas and the Giants. Giants are almost a lock of a win if you ask me. So they would need to lose to Dallas (likely) and Tenn - giving Tenn a win. Tenn would then have to lose to the Giants and Washington (not going to happen). Miami has Minn, Buff, and Jax - they will win more than likely 2 of those, if not all three. The only real shot we have is Pittsburgh losing all three games and us winning out.

If you reread my post I said I want the Browns to win. I’m also realistic in my expectations for making the playoffs let alone getting through the playoff gauntlet to play in the SB. Then beating that opponent to hoist the trophy. Yes it could happen. So could an alien invasion. In the mean time I recognize this team still has some pieces missing. Through free agency and a strong draft of top talent we can become an even better team. One more equipt to beat the Chief, Texan, and Stiller level teams. Not just once but over and over over the next decade plus. Again, I want wins. I just know that this season is more about growing and learning to win. The goal has been achieved. Any aspirations beyond that are icing on the cake. I for one won’t be upset if we don’t make the playoffs. Especially if we win 2 more games. Especially if a bunch of other teams get to 7 or 8 wins too. Sliding us up in the draft along the way. Also know I’ll root like crazy if we end up in the SB. Our alien overlords will know nothing but a winning Browns franchise.

There are just too many teams to beat out for the WC ... Indy, Balt, Ten, Mia, etc

lets Break it down. As of today still,
The biggest impact teams are some of these,
The Colts are 7-6, and play VS Dallas, Vs the Giants, and At Tennessee.
I think they lose to Dallas, and at Tennessee, but beat the Giants, to reach 8-8/
The Titans, are 7-6, and play, At the Giants, Vs the Redskins, and Vs the Colts, I could see them lose At the Giants, at home to the Redskins, and then Beat the Colts in the final week.
(best case scenario for the Browns, because they'd also finish 8-8.
... The Dolphins are 7-6, and play, At Minnesota, ( I think Minnesotat will win) Vs Jacksonville, (I think the Dolphins would win) and finish At Buffalo, I think the Bills would win, If the Dolphins lose any 2, they would be 8-8
The Ravens are 7-6, and play, Vs Tampa Bay, At San Diego and Vs the Cleveland Browns, .. If the Browns win out, and they lose all 3, The Ravens would be 7-9, (realistic scenario)
The Steelers are 7-5-1, they play Vs the Patriots, At the Saints, and Vs Cincinnati, If they lose the next 2, and beat Cincinnati, they'd only be, 8-7-1 and have a tie breaker over the Browns.
The Broncos, are 6-7, and play Vs the Browns (Saturday night) At Oakland and Vs the Chargers, If the Browns beat them, they would be no better than 8-8.
The Bengals are 5-8, if the Browns beat them at home 2 games from now, they'd finish no better than 7-9
The Bills, Jets, Raiders, and Jaguars are already eliminated from the playoffs this year.
The Browns, are 5-7-1 They play, At Denver Vs. Cincinnati and At Baltimore, (I think the Browns have a better Quarterback than they will face in all 3 games,)
If the Browns, win all 3, they would be 8-7-1 and in this scenario would get the 2nd wild card spot and be in the playoffs.
The First wild card spot is already locked up by whichever of the two Afc west teams, the 11-2 Chiefs, and 10-3 Chargers, who play each other, finish 2nd in their division, but would have at least 10 wins.
So we know who to root for now. This week:
The Cowboys, Giants, Browns, Vikings, Patriots, Buccaneers,
That's this week.

Is this thread where we talk about other games just because we are interested in them or do those games have to be tied to the rooting interests of the Browns?
If it is the latter, will you start an Other Games thread? I really want to talk about the Chiefs/Chargers game.

I guess I need to add this. I could easily start another thread, but I don't want to take away from Portland's thread if he does indeed want us to discuss all the "other games" on his thread.

All games are open for discussion. I just started with the games that directly effect the Browns draft slotting. Others have discussed how the games effect our playoff chances. It’s open season on all games this week. .

That's actually a longer shot than winning the division outright from what I understand. This is correct - of course when the games are played anything can happen. But statistically we need less things to fall right to win the div. than to get the wild card spot. Odds are very low. I found this from Dec 6th - says we were at less than 1% .... our odds may have gone up as some of those teams that had a chance just lost and are out.... https://ftw.usatoday.com/gallery/nfl-pla...ntering-week-14

Can't wait until Stephen A breaks down how Derek Anderson and Kellen Winslow expose the Broncos LBs, Ian Gold and Nate Webster, this Saturday night.
