Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield has been nominated for NFL Rookie of the Week for Week 14.

He completed 18-of-22 passes for 238 yards and a touchdown in a victory over the Carolina Panthers.

Mayfield has completed 242-of-376 passes for 2,877 yards, 19 touchdowns and ten interceptions this season. He has won NFL Rookie of the Week four times this season. He was also named NFL Rookie of the Month for November.

Cornerback Denzel Ward and running back Nick Chubb have each won the award two times this season.

Mayfield is up against some usual suspects this week. Indianapolis Colts linebacker Darius Leonard had 12 tackles, a pass deflection and a sack in a win over the Houston Texans. New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley had 14 carries for 170 yards and a touchdown as well as four receptions for 27 yards in a win over the Washington Redskins. San Francisco 49ers cornerback DJ Reed had 12 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble in a win over the San Francisco 49ers. Buffalo Bills wide receiver Robert Foster had seven receptions for 104 yards in a loss to the New York Jets.

It's to bad we are ruining the kid by playing him this early.

He seems to be responding nicely to being brought along so fast.

It's only too early if he would have shown he isn't ready - which is exactly how he looked at the start of the season.

He has shown that he is one of the rare ones that not only can handle it, but is thriving within it.

By "the start of the season" do you mean his pre-season games where he was seldom on the field with the starters and wasn't getting practice reps with the #1s?

It's over, Hue is gone, whatever... but I'm pretty certain that if we had an actual 3 week competition for the starting job (instead of the back-up job) Mayfield would have eventually passed Tyrod and would have been the starter from Day 1 and we would have a couple more wins and we would be firmly planted in the playoff race.. nobody is going to convince me that Mayfield went from what we saw in preseason, primarily with a bunch of back-ups, to what we first saw against the Jets because of some back-up reps he got the first few weeks of the season...

I will vote 50x for baker, but I think SQ is gonna win this week. And it would be deserved.

I actually hope Baker gets snubbed for OROY, can you imagine the chip on his shoulder he would have after that? !

Yes .. but he won Rookie of the Week for the Jets game .. which he did not start. You are right though .. one week was a bye.

SQ is a fine player, but the team is hopeless.

Browns fans have sunshine in the morning these days....

I don't think the fans feel that way - they've won 4 of 5 including a victory over the Bears. 5-8 on the season and only lost two games by more than a TD.
