It did end higher than I thought it would, but still down (the Dow that is).
Today may give us a hint. Jobs report shows we missed expections, Wages ticked up .002%, Unemployment remained steady
But we did have the largest deficit EVER.. AS IN EVER BEFORE IN HISTORY and for some reason, Trump doesn't seem to care, after all, when this blows up, he won't be here.
It's just like I said, if he runs the US like he runs his companies,, Bankruptcy is around the corner.

Ya know Daman, people told me all the time that the Dems would just spend spend spend away, and hat we didn’t care about the national debt, or the deficit, EVEN though in one category, Obama absolutely lowered the deficit
But ok. They are right. Honestly a lot of us didn’t care, and we really don’t say anything about it now.
But I find it funny that the same people who whines about the federal deficit and national debt under Obama aren’t making the same post anymore under individual 1?
Why is that? National debt up? Check
Federal deficit up? Check.
It lets me know they didn’t really care about it at all. They just cared that Obama was doing half of it, but it’s cool for individual 1 to do all of it.

Got a link? Last I checked Obama still holds that crown. Trump is certainly trying to beat that record. The out of control spending on both sides needs stop.

So you see the spending by Obama and the economy he inherited as the same as Trump's and the situation he took over?

This is a short sighted view on the issue, which is why these sorts of discussions never get anywhere.

Do you think this is a big deal or just the market returning to normal volatility? 450 points ain't what it used to be, less than 2% of the Dow. If the market is going to go full on bear I'd be curious to know what the bubble is that causes it. I see some worrying signs but nothing that indicates a massive problem (yet).

honestly im not sure bro.
i stated before that we was due for a correction, so i was never gonna put that on trump. it was going to happen, everybody knew it was gonna happen, so its whatever.
the problem i see that makes this a big deal is that trump himself isn't helping matters whatsoever. tweeting "im a tariff guy" was about the dumbest thing a president could do, and the market reacted to such.
another issue with this trade deal is this new arrest of that chinese CEO. thats gonna hurt relations. then you got this brexit disaster, which looks like they are gonna do a hard brexit, which is gonna HURT.
you're way more knowledgable about markets than i am, so my question to you is this:
what happens when our actual economy realizes that the market was overinflated to begin with due to stock buybacks?
what i mean by that is this: so many companies were hiring like crazy, partly do to the VERBAL agreements of companies reinvesting into the country. did you see whats going down with FOXCONN in winsconsin right now?
my concern is that a lot of the gains in the stock market and economy was based on hype, and not something sustainable. im scared that we could start seeing a mass layoff of workers due to that.

Nothing yet to be overly alarmed with. But should it keep up, yeah, then maybe. Two years about about this time, the Dow was sitting right around 18 or 19 thousand. That was thought to be pretty good. No complaints from anyone really After trump sworn in, it jumped up way out of whack.. This is just the market seeking a more reasonable level.

The fact that your average investor can't seem to understand that most of those huge tax cuts to the corporations were used to buy stock, and not what was claimed it would be used for, overinflated the market is surprising to me.
The market has some built in safeguards if used correctly. One is a tax cut. It's why you don't use tax cuts in a stable economy. You save that as a measure to help stabilize a failing economy. The other is interest rates. As an economy grows you increase the interest rates so if the market takes a turn you can cut interest rates to stimulate the market.
The current situation simply doesn't allow for that. We just had a massive tax cut when the market was already stable and growing. So that safeguard was used just to puff up an already stable market. The FED wasn't raising the interest rates as the economy improved. So we have a situation where our emergency measures simply aren't in place to help the situation if things continue to go south.

see? its going up already. One thing about investing in weed or alcohol. People use both to celebrate in the good times and to drown their sorrows in the bad times. It's hard to go wrong investing there. And as weed becomes legal in more and more states, including Canada now, it can only be a winning investment.

i agree.
right now you're seeing some alcohol and tobacco companies making major investments into cannabis.
regardless of my feelings that big tobacco are putting their hands in it, at the end of the day, its gonna create jobs and market gains for people who decide to invest.

As sad as it is, often times those who helped get things off the ground, who supported the movement that actually brought about that change, get squeezed out by those with money and power once that change comes about.
Much like you, I don't care for how that works out but it's been that way forever.

"If you don't lie to our children we'll fire you!" So stunting your children's emotional growth is funny now? Well that explains a lot when it comes to the political threads!

Thinking that lying to your children promotes emotional growth is what's funny.

Thinking that lying to your children promotes emotional growth is what's funny. Says the Concrete guy. The Doctor, however, doesn't advise to lie but to allow children to wonder and dream. "A good imagination is critical for healthy development in young kids. A powerful fantasy life helps kids model and understand the world. Imagination is an essential human adaption and when children pretend, they are exercising the evolutionarily crucial human ability to envision alternative ways the world could be. "And what to say to them when they start to figure it out? I suggest simply asking “What do you think?”

Hey, it's great you can find one shrink to back up your opinion... The Psychologist’s Case for Telling Kids Santa Isn’t Real What would your advice be for parents currently wondering what to tell their kids about Santa? Tell your kid the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. It’s pretty simple, and the argument I use is this: Christmas is going to be exciting and fun and enjoyable whether kids know the truth about Santa or not. In the same way that I can watch a movie that I know is complete fiction and still find the movie tremendously enthralling, our children can know the truth about Santa and still find Christmas every bit as exciting. https://www.fatherly.com/love-money/tell-kids-santa-not-real/

I guess if they were Moderate or Conservative I would suggest they consider what the good Doctor has said. If Liberal, I would suggest they skip the Doctor and go with the Concrete guy.

You do realize there's no way to make Santa real, right?
And obviously 40 can't read because I matched his doctor with another doctor but the blind can't see that.

And obviously 40 can't read because I matched his doctor with another doctor but the blind can't see that. Of course there's no way to make Santa real. But it was real to me when i was a little kid up until like 7 years old when my buddy told me he saw all his presents under his mom's bed (and then i looked behind my parent's bed and saw all of mine). Every kid has to find out that Santa isn't real at some point. But it's not the place of some temporary babysitter to do it. Let the magic be real for these kids for a little while longer. Afterwards my mother always said, "It pays to believe". Somehow that resonated with me. So I always happily pretended and never told anyone the truth. As a kid, Christmas is better with Santa. Just how i feel. Don't mind the meme though, just found out how to do it. You were the first, and I love it

12:20 PM the Dow is down 415 points again. Can't help but think a lot of this volatility is Trump's legal problems causing uncertainty.
