Gurley pretty dumb there. Got to know the situation
Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. Comes into us at midnight very clean. It's perfect when it arrives and it puts itself in our hands. It hopes we've learned something from yesterday. -John Wayne

One thing I forgot to mention last night was how wrong I was about the Bears. I remember us debating about whether the Browns should trade for K. Mack. I was all in on the deal that would send a first round pick and Collins to Oakland for Mack, but I balked when I heard the asking price was two first round picks.
I debated w/Diam about that and said that the Bears didn't have a shot at the playoffs and that both Minni and GB were better than them in their division. Turns out, I was wrong.
I've seen a few people in the media asking questions about Wentz and his extension recently. Meaning, I think they can dump a huge extension at his feet this offseason, but would you? His 1st season was "meh", 2nd season MVP-like but ended in a bad knee injury and then this season was late to start filled with some mediocre play and ANOTHER season ending injury. Is that good enough to give him a Cousins-like extension?
I wouldn't.

The two 1st rounders isn't technically the whole story, the Bears are receiving a 2020 2nd rounder in return. I think that balances out the trade a bit more.
I would have made that trade in a heartbeat for the Browns if I were the GM. Two firsts going out with Mack plus a 2nd coming back AND you get to extend Mack.....ugh, done. Not that we knew it at the time, but we'd be sending a mid-first and potentially (and hopefully) a late-first next year. Would two mid-to-late first rounders be as good as Mack's been this year and going forward?
I don't trust Trubisky. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like he had one insane week (6TDs vs the Bucs) and then has played OK or bad the rest of the games. I'm not saying he's trash, just not sure his ceiling is all that high.

U weren’t the only one bro ... it was literally me against the board on that one ... even with Ward i had a few on my side ... on the Mack deal ... i don’t believe a single solitary soul agreed with me ..
U are however the only one i’ve seen fess about it ...
I dont remember u or anyone else being on my side ... i been wrong before, guess i’ll Just add this to my list ... *L* ...
Dawg ... they used we couldnt afford to extend him as another to not do it ... i couldnt believe it ..
How do u not give up two first rounders and a chunk of the HUGE AMOUNT of space we had for a GENERATIONAL PLAYER that is still YOUNG ... at that position ... are u kidding me ...
I tmade no sense to me how u wouldn’t take the GENERATIONAL PLAYER for a chance to draft two guy u HOPE WILL BE GOOD MUCH LESS GENERATINOL especially at that position ...
Dang .. wish i knew u were on my team .. i’ve Been alone in my stances many many times before ... that one seemed lonelier than most ... *L* ..

At that point in year though is a key factor in that trade.
This was what End of Aug, first few days of September?
We were coming off an 0-16 season. The bears were going into their second year with Mitch and an already decent Def.
We still had a lot of question marks. For us to make that deal, I think we needed to be closer (at that point) to a competitive team.
Give me this trade today, and I would make it in a heartbeat. But at that point, I didn't believe we were in the right spot to make it.
Bro ... u have him locked up for 4 or 5 years when u re-sign him ...
I could care less where i am at today ... he’s GENERATIONAL ... its like u guys dont understand what that means ...
And with us ... 0 -16 was IRRELIVENT ... if we had a QB we would have been a 4 - 6 win team ... we had TT ... if Dorsey gave up a 3rd and didnt think he was at least competent ... were eventually going to be in trouble anyhow ... *LOL* ...
They traded for him casue they wanted WINS NOW ... TODAY ... while the rookie QB watched and learned ...
And if u put him across from MG ... U JUST SOLVED ALOT OF PROBLEMS regarless of how bad u are elsewhere ...
Sorry bro ... you’ll never convince me that u should pass on a GENERATIONAL PLAYER ... that dude may be the closest we ever see to an LT ... and i would be STUNNED if LT didnt go into more James than not JOSH GORDONED ... *L* ...
ESPECIALLY with the talent we brought in ... Vice Grips, Randall, Mitchell, TT, Gaines, other CB ,...
Naaa ...
Agreeing with each other was fun while it lasted ... *LOL* ...

I noticed it last week against us, Frenchy. Cam's throwing motion looks different. He isn't practicing on Wed and Thur. I think the shoulder is damaged.
I don't even like the guy, so I am not making excuses for him. I really do think he's hurt.

I think you have to (and I would). They went all in on him 2 years ago, you can't give up on him now. He's good. Don't let the injuries fool you.

It’s not about being fooled. It’s about paying this guy CEO money to ride the bench on injuries.
Like Jimmy G.

Yep, in terms of Michael Thomas, Brees does this every few games for whatever reason. Just maddening if you own him in FF lol

in terms of the game ... Cam sucks right now. Just brutal to watch. CMC is legit their whole offense

They need to sit Cam for his own good .... he can’t throw the ball ... it reminded me of the 13 year olds in baseball when they move then up to the big field .... none of the kids could make the throw from the left side of the infield and some of the coaches didnt have the sense to move them up in the infield ... he threw way to many passes into rhe dirt ...
I felt sorry for him last night ... he’s clearly not even remotely close to being himself .... they need to shut him down for the season ....
I agree w/that. Cam is about 5% of what he should be, and the defense knows it. I can't recall a pass over 10 yards that was complete

But I truly think Dorsey can draft a Mack type of player. I'm going on the investment he made with our 5th round pick and got Avery who is becoming better and better each game.
We are in the area finally (middle of the pack or if we win out around the early 20s. Where you get some good Linebacker, Safties and on the O side TE and OGs a RT?
Who knows??? Josh Allen or Bosa might be our Guy and play that SAM position. I just remember Jamir Miller tearing it up rushing from the 2 point position in our 4-3 Defense with a decent DE McKinnley??? In 3 point. Imagine one of them on the Outside switching from Ogbah to Garrets side.
Actually I would love a Bosa or Allen with Larry inside Ogbah and Garret Outside and then have that Bosa/Allen guy on one side with Avery on the other that would be a nice 5 for a pass rush.
jmho
Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off! Go Browns! CHRIST HAS RISEN! GM Strong! & Stay safe everyone!
Bro .. we can get a lesser version of Mack ... he’s GENERATIONAL BRO ... when greats are together ... he stand out amongst them ...
he can rush like Bosa and cover better than most safeties ....
He’s a FREAK bro ...
U go get Bosa and u get as close to him as u can .. LOVE AVERY ... he can’t nor will he ever be able to carry Macks jock ... just like anyone else drafted after the first 5 picks ..
Don’t matter no more bro ...
Lets talk about the browns bud ... we been waiting for this forever ... lets FOCUS on that .. i know i am ...
I had no idea you could return a 2 point conversion. Wow
You can return a 2 point conversion for 2 points. Rare play.
Even freakier: the 1 point safety. Basically if the offense commits a safety on a 2 point conversion (on the other side of the field, use your imagination), the defense gets 1 point.
It's possible for a game to end with a score of 6-1, for example.
Josh McDaniels: “No ulterior motive” to Josh Gordon’s absence on final play
During Sunday’s loss to the Steelers, New England receiver Josh Gordon didn’t do much, catching only one pass for 19 yards. More surprisingly, Gordon wasn’t on the field for the final play from scrimmage for a Patriots team trailing by seven.
It was fourth and 15 from the Steelers 21, a snap that came after Pittsburgh called a timeout. But there was no Gordon among the targets available to Tom Brady.
“We had just kind of run quite a few plays in a row,” offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels said Tuesday when asked about the situation by reporters. “I know there was a timeout there before that. Both of those guys have worked at that spot and in that type of a situation, and based on what we were doing, we made the choice to go with [Cordarrelle Patterson] at that point — no ulterior motive on that at all. Just put a fresh guy in to go in there and do something on the last play to see if we could get into the end zone, and it is what it is.”
It was what it was, a failed effort to tie the game, and an outcome that has many wondering whether the Patriots have lost their mojo. From the collapse of situational football against the Dolphins to the undisciplined play against the Steelers (14 penalties is a staggering amount of flags for a Bill Belichick team) to increasing questions about Father Time making his final kick toward Tom Brady, the Patriots are now guaranteed to have fewer than 12 wins for the first time since 2009, and they’re in danger of not having a bye for the first time since that same season.

Rules in high school, college and professional football dictate that when a safety occurs during a two-point conversion or point-after kick (officially known in the rulebooks as a try), it is worth one point. It can be scored by the offense in college and professional football (following an NFL rule change in 2015) if the defense obtains possession of a live ball in the field of play, propels the ball (by carrying it or fumbling it) into its own end zone, and then is downed there with the defense in possession of the ball. This event has only occurred twice in NCAA Division I history. Before 2015, the only scenario in which a one-point safety could have been scored in the NFL would have involved the defense kicking or batting a loose ball out the back of the end zone without taking possession of it.[14]
A conversion safety could be earned by the defense if the offense retreated with the ball all the way back into its own end zone; most plausibly this would involve a fumble at some point during the play. Two potential scenarios include an errant snap or a fumble that is bobbled repeatedly until the offensive team recovers the ball in, or bats the ball through, its own end zone (similar situations have been documented in regular play from scrimmage[15] and are more likely in arena football with its much shorter, narrower and bounded field of play), or, in the college and professional game, a defender attempting a defensive two-point conversion, fumbling the ball and having the offensive team recover in their own end zone. Although such a conversion safety has never been scored by the defense, this rule provides the only way in American football that a team could finish the game with a score of one point. (Canadian football allows another one-point play called the single or rouge).[16]
The high school football rulebook acknowledges the conversion safety, awarding one point for it, but also immediately ends a play if the opposing team gains possession of the ball, a rule similar to the one the NFL used before 2015. Thus, any situation that requires the defense to gain possession of the ball could not result in a conversion safety in games where that rulebook is used.
