Opinion on GMFB is that he has relapsed yet again, and will face an indefinite suspension again. New England Patriots receiver Josh Gordon says he is stepping away to focus on mental health http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/25580...s-mental-healthNew England Patriots receiver Josh Gordon says he is stepping away from football to focus on his mental health. Gordon went on to thank coach Bill Belichick, team owner Robert Kraft, the Patriots organization and the fans. The Patriots confirmed to ESPN that that statement was from Gordon. Everybody, even the most put together stable people, only have so much limitation before if you stress them too much they will snap.
You can't fault people for trying to do the right thing.
And since the time he left training camp in 18, people around the situation, publicly, have treated the situation in a way dissimilar to that of a relapse.
Best to him.

I have hoped the best for him, that he would finally put his issues to rest, but that does not appear to be the case. I was, and am, glad we traded him, and moved on from all of his drama. Also, now that he's not our problem and on a media darling team, it will be interesting to see how the league handles a suspension if he indeed tested positive. When he was with us, one bad test and he's out for a year+. Will the league do the same now that he's on the Pats?
Man, that was weird to type. I'm not normally a conspiracy person, but you never know with the NFL.

"Like sand through the hourglass..."
Well, I'll be frank, I think the last time he "stepped away", it was a mere manipulation of the league because talking about mental health offered him isolation from league policies... it worked like a charm. Everybody felt bad for Josh because we are trained to feel compassion for anyone with mental illness. I think he was on the verge of failing a test (or already did), then, and it was an effort to avoid suspension. The Rog felt compassion and knew it offered him a way to turn his head and not suspend Gordon.
The day we announced we were parting ways there were sources in Berea that said they were concerned about his sobriety and he "wasn't acting normal". I still feel a certain amount of compassion for the human but lets be clear... he has everything to fight for and all the resources a human could ask for in doing so. So, while I feel bad, I think "what a waste". Sadly, as this relates to football, my first thought was the mental math in making sure we got our draft pick.
I've watched many people with little to no resources fight these demons and win, hard to keep feeling sorry for "Flash".

We traded a 7th for a 5th.
Last year that would not have been very good, because the Pats would be picking at the very bottom of the round, and we would have been picking at the top. SI has us currently picking 16, and the Pats 26. That makes it closer to a round for round trade than most would have thought when we made the deal.

It's kinda sad in a way but IMHO he should have wised up a long time ago.

The pats traded a 5th for a 7th and 40 receptions 720 yards 3 touchdowns True, but they also got a player that's probably gone the rest of the year right at the time they need him the most and almost no time to bring someone else in. That hurts. Heck, think if we had kept him and he translated into one more additional win for us, which puts us right in the thick of a playoff spot. And them boom, "see ya later guys, I can't help get that playoff spot because I probably got high again." It's not just what he gives you, it's also the way he'll leave you with no warning and then you're screwed. The Pats are in trouble.

People bought into his BS about poor Josh and his mental health yet again. Now it's come out that it's actually another suspension. How many times will people believe the same person who's lied to them over and over again?
Never mind. I almost forgot who was president.

I was just playing due to presidential comments you both made.
Personally, I don't feel all that sorry for Josh Gordon. I think there are a lot of other players and coaches who are much better people and have faced much-worse treatment from the fans and media.
That does not mean I wish him ill-will, but I think he has received way more chances than 99% of the population.

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000001...uspended-by-nflPatriots' Josh Gordon indefinitely suspended by NFL
New England Patriots wide receiver Josh Gordon was suspended indefinitely by the NFL on Thursday for violating the terms of his reinstatement under the league's substance abuse policy.
The suspension announcement came a short time after Gordon revealed he was stepping away from football to focus on his mental health.
"I take my mental health very seriously at this point to ensure I remain able to perform at the highest level," Gordon wrote in a statement. "I have recently felt like I could have a better grasp on things mentally. With that said, I will be stepping away from the football field for a bit to focus on my mental health. I would like to thank Coach (Bill) Belichick, (Patriots owner) Mr. (Robert) Kraft, as well as countless others with the Patriots organization for their continued support. I want to thank my fans for their support as well as I continue down the path to getting back to 100 percent."
Gordon has a long history of mental health and substance abuse issues. The star receiver missed two full seasons while being suspended and participated in just 10 games between 2014 and 2018. The Patriots issued the following statement on Gordon's suspension:
"We support Josh Gordon in his continued efforts to focus on his health. His attempt to do so is a private and personal matter, which we intend to respect."
It's a sad situation for the immensely talented but struggling receiver.
Gordon is potentially facing a long road back that could endanger the 27-year-old's NFL career. If he never plays another NFL down, Gordon's story will be remembered as an all-time coulda, woulda, shoulda player.
For the Patriots, they'll move forward with Julian Edelman, Chris Hogan, Cordarrelle Patterson and Phillip Dorsett at receiver. With Rob Gronkowski struggling, losing Gordon's field-stretching ability is a massive blow for New England heading into January. In 11 games this season, Gordon compiled 40 catches for 720 yards with three touchdowns.
Gordon's situation will affect a playoff-bound Patriots team, but more importantly, we hope Gordon gets the help needed to one day find peace in his life, even if that future doesn't involve football.

He needs to forget about the NFL and just go to Canada to rake in what cash he can while he's still able to play. Football's a young man's game and his earning time is running short.
