Saw a Power Ranking. Not that I give them much credence. But they had the Ravens as fifth.
Made me wonder. If you look back on our season with the coulda shoulda games and what has happened since the "Takeover".
Where are we?
Although I am super pumped about next season that comes without any known changes to the current roster.
Who will be our head coach? What free agents will be signed? Who will be drafted?
All that remains to be seen.
The question remains. How Good Are We Now?
What would have happened if we would have won a game or two more? Or if we won the first Steeler game?
The AFC as it stands now. KC, Pats, Chargers, Ravens, Colts, Texans, Titans, Steelers.
How would we do against the playoff teams?
Just a guess but I think we could play Ravens, Steelers, Colts, and Titans and maybe win.
Not saying we would win but have a decent chance to win.
If that is truly the case next season man it could get real interesting.

Quick point: the ravens aren’t ranked that high if Flacco is still starting. Remember, they lost 3 of their last 4 before he got hurt, including a loss to us.
That being said, I think we are in the middle of the pack in the nfl. The reality is that the only team we beat with a winning record is the ravens, and as I said, that was with Flacco starting.
All the other wins came against struggling to bad teams. If the refs didn’t rob us, and we beat the bucs, that’s two more wins, but two wins against bad teams.
The Steelers beat us pretty handily the second go around. We got stomped by the chiefs. We got stomped by the chargers and we got stomped by the Texans.
We’re good enough to be average this year. Which is a massive upgrade from what we use to be.

IMO, we're able to play with the good teams and able to beat the mediocre teams. So I guess that means we're like 12-16 ... right in that area
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

I don't think we are the same team today that we were when we lost those games.
The Browns have grown a bunch in a short time.
It is a difficult question because of the recent impact of players like Perriman.
The other thing is the true impact of Freddie on the offense. Scoring before and after Freddie is like two different teams.
If we had gotten into the playoffs; we might have made some noise.

I am going to make a factual post and I get that it won't be popular in a forum that contains a ton of lies, untruths, and shameful insults.
The Browns have beaten one team w/a winning record this year. That team was the Baltimore Ravens. The Browns can obtain their second win against a team w/a winning record this week. That team is the Baltimore Ravens.
Those are facts and not the BS that has taken over this forum.
With that said, I think the Browns are much improved for a multitude of reasons and I do think we are better than we were.
How good? It's hard to say.

We’ve grown, but that doesn’t mean we’re the only ones who grew as well.
The ravens went from losing 3 of their last 4 to going 5-1 since. Other teams like the Seahawks have gotten better. The chargers have also got better.
I do think we’re a better team, and I wasn’t disputing that. But just because we got better doesn’t mean the other teams got worse or stayed the same. Some got better as well.

I did speak my mind. I said that this forum has went from a forum where people felt a responsibility to try and keep things factual to a forum where people lie to win arguments. It's disgusting.
I also spoke my mind when I listed the facts that I did and that I am hopeful for the future. I hope to God I got my facts right [the wins vs winning teams] LOL....I think I have that right...
Here is what bothers me the most. Instead of celebrating what is happening and looking forward to the future, so many of these threads become about Sashi and Hue. Both are freaking gone!
It's time to move on. Dorsey and Williams/Kitchen are better than Sashi and Hue/Haley. They are all gone and thankfully so.

Of course I am.
Bro, I am not telling you--or anyone--how to post. I was just expressing my opinion. And I've been holding back so, so much. Some of the lies that are being told in order to promote an agenda are unreal.
It's one thing to have an opinion. It's another to lie and/or deceive to get others to agree w/you. And no.........I am not including you in that group.
I do think you have been overly mean, but that's not a big deal. I come from a school of not kicking a man when he is down. Perhaps your school is different?

I am not talking about different opinions. I am talking about outright lies. Such as people saying things like Hue wanted Barkley and not Baker before the draft. There are hundreds of examples of those types of lies. They don't know that for a fact, but they throw it out there, others repeat it, and it somehow becomes "fact."
It's lame. It's wrong. And we should--as a community--hold ourselves to a higher standard than that.

7-7-1. The record don't lie.
This Sunday is a HUGE statement game for this franchise. - Almost every talking head thinks it's a foregone conclusion we lose. - No one can stop Lamar. Imagine how our stock soars if we do. - A win makes an impact on Dorsey's process going forward...I guess. - I can't measure team spirit with a win, but it will make for a great off-season.
Last year the 49ers had a five game win streak to end the season. They were almost anointed Super Bowl contenders before the season started. It's HARD to be your best week-by-week. I truly believe Baker will keep that focus for himself and the team.

As good as your next game. This is as close to a playoff matchup as they will see this year.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

The Browns are beating the teams they "should beat", and that's a great place to start. They still do have some holes, but they are fewer than almost any year I can think of in the past 20 years.
I see a crying need for a penetrating DT to play alongside Ogunjobi, and I would like to upgrade at least 1 OLB spot, another pass rusher, and CB could use one more talented youngster to grow into a starting role.
On offense, we need to continue to develop OL, and obviously a WR with burn it down speed would be great.
One thing is for sure, we have a guy at QB who can make every throw, and do it well. He made some throws in the Bengals game that you couldn't have done better with a laser scope. If he manages to throw 2 TD in the final game ... which would be extremely difficult with the way the Rats are playing .... then he would tie Peyton Manning and Russel Wilson for the rookie record for TDs. He would do so while also sitting the 1st 2.5 games of his rookie season. That is absolutely incredible.
I love that Williams has brought discipline to the team. (and to himself, actually) I think that Kitchens has done an amazing job putting together an offense that allows players from all position groups to shine. I also love that this team is starting to believe in itself. They are definitely also following Baker's lead.
There is a lot of extremely encouraging stuff happening here.

You play the schedule. We did play the Saints close. We did tie the Steelers.
All that is in the past. The record is what it is. But the team is a long way away from where we started the season.
I think I can say at this point I am confident we can play any team and not be ashamed.
Look at the pre-season team favorites. Jags, Vikings, Falcons. The Bengals started out on fire.
I have long thought that there are a few really good teams. And a few really bad teams. The rest are very close and the games could go either way.
We are no longer a bad team. Not quite really good either. But all the rest I feel we can fight straight up.
Once this full off season is over and we break for camp. The hype on the Browns will be for real. We are already an interesting team to watch.
Thanks D. It would be great to start the New Year on a clean slate.
We have some good posters. Guys who bring some good thought. It would be great to discuss football and exchange ideas of what we see.
Debate is good. Personal attacks are not.
We are out from under the rock and should have some super exciting football ahead of us.
Damn. We might end up with a winning record. And next year can not come soon enough.
Next year we might be game planning in the playoffs. That's right I said it.

Your team can beat the Ravens. If they don't make some of the stupid mistakes the Chargers made last Saturday, they have a decent shot at winning.

The Browns are better than most people will give them credit for...
Our defense at full strength can compete with anyone in the league. Our offense can put up points to compete with any team. We are a top 15 team in the league right now. We might be 15, might not, but as the season progressed we became better. Much better. We'd have win the division of be real choose to the division title had we played like this all season.
I recall a few years back when the Titans started something like 1-7 and went on to 8-8 and everyone called them one of the best teams in the league at that time. We have had some easier opponents of late but that shouldn't take away from how good we are... As anyone here should know and anyone who followed us the past 3 seasons, it's not easy to win games in the NFL.
We're a very good football team.

I agree w/you that we are a much=improved team. You and I have discussed this throughout the year and we both have agreed that there has been legitimate hope for this team moving forward.
I'm sorry for the earlier hijacking of your thread. I was just a bit irritated because I had just read two other threads where the lying and wild speculation was very prevalent. My apologies.
You're right about the schedule. We did tie the Steelers at the beginning of the year. We should have beaten the Saints. We did beat the Ravens.
We got blown out by the other three teams who have good records. They being the Chargers, Chiefs, and Texans.
The rest of our schedule contains wins and losses from teams that have losing records, and in some cases, who were on extended losing streaks.
I think beating the Ravens on the road in what is a must-win game for them would be a huge statement for the Browns. It's going to be a very difficult test, but I think we have a shot. I don't expect us to win, but I think we can win. I hope we at least keep it close.
In conclusion, I agree w/you that we are no longer a bad team and that things are looking up. I've believed that ever since I saw the gigantic improvement to the roster this year and watched the first couple of games. I am not sure just how good we are because I would like to see some wins against teams w/winning records before I make any bold proclamations.

Perhaps that all starts with an apology from the poster who just recently said "(we) all suck" and can "kiss his butt" and THAT shortly after a self-imposed break from posting? Not one other poster says crap like that and then boo-hoos when people bark back. Now that same poster claims that "we" are a bunch of liars. I've aced out family members who've demonstrated that they can't behave in a family setting...and this is just a MB. Sorry bro...but the "change" that is needed here starts with the poster who is - without equal - the person most-often at the forefront when a thread gets nasty. Merry Christmas! And my apologies for hijacking the thread...but someone had to say it.

Man .... what a year ... shaking my head and *L* at the roller coaster the beggingin of rhe year was and how GREAT the 2nd half has been .... WOW .... so much fun ... I don’t really care what the press or the power ranking guys have to say .... they don’t know this team near as well as most of us posters IMO ... i’d take a round table of myself, Vers, Pit, tabber and Bone discussing our browns over almost all the groups of bozos as tabber calls them .... *L* .... (and u could prolly throw another two dozen posters names in there ... i just picked 4 i’ve known for a long time and respect ... I RESPECT many others also .. even posters i debate “vigourouosy” with ... ) ... I also have NO CLUE how good we are this week ... one of the great things since the season re-birth has been that we’ve gotten better every week IMO ... one of the things Vers has harped on for the last few years is we needed to having a winning culture and learn how to win games ... WELL ... proofs in the pudding dawgs .... Pit/NO/Faiders ... we found a way to “lose” or in the stilers game a way not to win ... *L* ... since then we’ve found ways to WIN those games .... Denver game being the SHINING EXAMPLE .... We did not lose to the teams we should have beaten like he Bungles and Falcons ... we beat teams that IMO are in the same “proximity” to us in the Donks and Panthers ... with beating the Donks in Denver being the big one as that was a nail bitter we pulled out ... Were not quite ready to compete with the “elite” teams like the Chefs, Bolts and Texans .. were still JUST SHY on talent and were still SO SO YOUNG ... Dawgs .. thats one of the ost impressive things about this team no ones really talking about ... well .. i dont really watch the talking heads so they may be .. on here ... I haven’t seen much if any talk about it ... Dawgs ... were doing this with literally PUPS ... this team is loaded with 1st and 2nd year STUDS and MAJOR CONTRIBUTORS combined with “young” veterans .... guys like /Randall and Vice Grios and Mitchell and Kirko are the “Old Men” on this team .... If u think about the first 8 weeks of the season and how dysfunctional things were on the O side of the ball and how Hue/Haleys “relationship” must have stunted the growth of the entire O ... The fact Freddie came in and has basically installed and entirely new offense on a weekly basis ... think about it ... i’m Sure he’s used some of the same concepts .. but this O is ENTIRLEY DIFFERENT than it was in week 8 in every CONCEVIABLE WAY ... he didnt quite start from scratch ... but almost ... Think about that ... Fred took a dysfunctional group of basically PUPS on O at the skill positions and MID SEASON changed everything and has made it work ... its one thing to do it with a veteran group ... with the youth at the skill positions its nothing short of AMAZING even with the caliber of opponents we’ve been doing it against .... we’ve STRUGGLED on O against the good D teams we’ve played .... IMO thats to be EXPECTED ... were young, were learning and we could use at least 1 if not 2 tackles ... This week will be a good gauge ... CAN’T WAIT to see how good or bad we do against the Rats ... our last game against a good D ... we got eaten up on O in the 1st half ... was THRILLED to see the adjustments we made and the success we had in the 2nd half compared to the first ... wemadethe 2nd half of that game competitive .. and thats HUGE for this young team ... I’m not really concerned with how good we are today ... i’mMUCH MORE CURIOUS to know how good were gonna be AFTER AN OFF SEASON of: - aquiring talent ... hopefully a STUDin FA and a bunch of QUALITY DEPTH .. including a COMPETENT TACKLE - seeing what Mr. R. Harrison becomes after an off season of technique and strength training .. - Bake and Vice Grips and his pups can do next year after a year of one or two passing camps u know Bakes gonna put on, OTA’s and Camp ... SO SO EXCITED TO SEE THAT ... - see how much this GROUP that appears to LOVE PLAYING TOGETHER and they GENIUNLY SEEM TO LOVE THE GAME and that seems willing to WORK THERE ARSES OFF to achieve GREATNESS IMPROVES ... each rep these kids take this year is IN VALUABLE and will pay major dividends next year ... ... and i mean that ... and quite frankly if there not willing to work and COMMIT to this team .. bakes gonna drag them along or there gonna be out of the picture ... We got ourselves a LEADER dawgs ... say what u will about Bake ... he’s a LEADER and a WINNER ... hee - hee has now become WOOF - WOOF ... This year was. GREAT RIDE ... next year things GET SERIOUS ...

I think we're a legitimate 8-8 team. That's remarkable considering how things had cratered by this time last year. The trick will be turning the Browns into a 10-6 or 12-4 team next year.
We've seen flash in the pan seasons that took us nowhere. With just a little bit of good decision making in the off season this team can be made into a very good NFL team. That's where the Browns are right now. Shoot, I'm more optimistic than I've been in years right now.

Your team can beat the Ravens. If they don't make some of the stupid mistakes the Chargers made last Saturday, they have a decent shot at winning. Do you have 2 examples of mistakes the Browns must avoid?

Damn I knew I should have sent you some pom poms for Christmas.
Right now our offense is a threat to any team. That alone makes us worth watching. We were a team in the recent past that scoring touchdowns was taboo. Our redzone numbers recently our flat crazy.
The TD pass to Fells is a perfect example. That had dead play written all over it. Baker drifted pumped and then put that pass in the only place it could go. I can not honestly remember the Browns making plays like that.
Just look at the TD's that have been thrown by Baker.
Right now today we are an offensive threat. Chubb, Duke, Landry, Callaway, Perriman, Higgins, Njoku, Fells, even DeValve. Freddie has created misdirection plays, option plays, screens, jump balls. Baker has adjusted plays at the line from defensive tells pre snap. No team is doing what we have done in the red zone.
Early in the year I started a thread about "the screen pass". How it was not being utilized. When Freddie took over it has been a staple. Inside, outside in both directions. Then he put in all sorts of misdirection plays. It has made us unpredictable. We are using all options. Look at how the ball is being spread around. Look at the run/pass balance.
What we have done in the red zone is not an accident.
Since Blake took over the defensive play calling we are not getting burned on outside runs. Before Blake we were getting gashed in the run game in general. The sack numbers have gone down but the defense is playing way better.
The Denver game is a great example. Lindsay was tearing it up. We stopped him cold. It forced Keenum to play underneath. We gave them that. We took the run and deep ball away. We then put them behind the eight ball to play catch up.
So we are doing things that we have not done before.
But make no mistake Baker is driving this bus. He is the trigger. He has the team playing with an edge.
By the start of next year us dawgs will be foaming at the mouth.
One last thing. I guarantee the Ravens are not looking at this coming game with the attitude this will be easy. they know they are facing a disturbed hornets nest.
