Went back and watched the Bengal game to get a different look.
I don't know how they select the pro bowl players.
But I looked at the voting selections and Bitonio was not even an option. He was not listed as a voting choice.
I don't get it.
I was just looking at the line play and he flat out dominates play after play.
I really don't know what criterion they use to grade the OL?
I have seen some grading on sacks allowed but that is it.
I would put Bitonio up against any guard in the league.

It's all fan voting. Mitchell Schwartz didn't get in either.

Yes Bitonio was on the ballot. I voted for him numerous times, same for Zeitler. Also, fan voting is only a part of it. Coaches and players have a majority of the vote.

I thought it was selected by players? It is both. Majority of the vote goes to players and coaches. I wanna say it is a 70-30 split.

was bitonio on the ballot? The fans, players, and coaches vote. Each gets 1/3 of the vote.

He's a beast but got off to a slow start (by his standards). I wonder if playing left tackle for a while actually screwed up some of his technique and preparation at guard.
In any case, he has been dominant lately.

Do you have some proof that he got off to a slow start, or are you just making crap up once again to slam Hue for moving him over there?
LMAO.............dude, you are beyond transparent.

Take that nonsense elsewhere, good riddance. That's what I see and that's mostly what I'm basing it off of. Luckily for me, PFF has been tracking the same thing. For example, in PFF's week 3 offensive line rankings, Bitonio had a mediocre overall grade of 64.5. https://www.profootballfocus.com/news/pro-week-3-nfl-offensive-line-rankingsLeft Guard: Joel Bitonio, 64.5 15 days ago, he got the nod on that site's Pro-Bowl team with a 73.0 rating. https://www.profootballfocus.com/news/pro-pffs-early-picks-for-the-2019-pro-bowlAs it currently stands, Bitonio has a grade of 74.3, good for the #4 guard in the league. https://www.profootballfocus.com/nfl/players/joel-bitonio/8670He's obviously trending upward.

Here's yet another one, THROUGH the first five weeks of the NFL season: https://www.profootballfocus.com/news/pro-week-5-nfl-offensive-line-rankings12. Cleveland Browns Left Tackle: Desmond Harrison, 60.4 Left Guard: Joel Bitonio, 64.7 Center: JC Tretter, 74.5 Right Guard: Kevin Zeitler, 67.1 Right Tackle: Chris Hubbard, 61.2 This group has improved quite a bit in the last 11+ weeks.

I can’t keep up with all of you guys past argument. So I’m not sure who I’m agreeing with here. But it has improved cause we are having good lt play finally, and bitonio back at guard where he belongs. Along with better play calling to get the ball out of Bakers hand quicker. And just the progression of him as well
And no I don’t have a damn link either, just my opinion

I will give my opinion on the OL.
They are playing outstanding and I am very surprised by that. I thought for sure that our OL would be pretty bad this year because Joe was gone.
I was wrong.
The interior of the OL has been incredible. The OT's are not nearly as bad as many claim they are.
The OL has given Baker more time than almost any qb in the league. Kitchens did a great job of calling a lot of plays that had quick reads. However, there have been other plays where Baker hold it forever and our OL keeps him clean.
This unit has been great this year and has far exceeded expectations.

Pro Bowl is a joke in terms of player quality. It's more just a fun reward for being a popular player. All Pro list is closer to accurate, tho even then they miss a few each year.
Same with MVP. It's 95% QB with the occasional RB.

two thoughts here, versatile . First, Haus stated his opinion and instead of responding with your excellent lengthy post evaluating our line play you initiated a childish exchange about links and “making crap up”. you are always saying you don’t want personal attacks and then you personally attack.
second, I agree 100% with your evaluation of our oline. Shoot, Baker doesn’t, even need to get his uniform cleaned between games he is kept so clean in the pocket. in addition we have a running back averaging close to 100 ypg. this oline has performed very well. consider this also. When Robinson was promoted to starter, not sure which game that was, that unit had probably never practiced together. Oline is a unit and time together is important. They should get better and better.
This leads me to a question for you, versatile, for diam and a number of other folk who constantly list offensive tackle as a need for this team. are you referring to using a high pick to bring in a starter or using a 3-4 round pick to develop and add depth?? I think our tackles have performed well and I think that unit should return intact next season.

It's hard to say.. Dorsey is far from the easiest to read GM out there, and you don't know when BPA is going to align with need in the draft. I have thought that Browns would make a big investment (draft, FA, or trade) at LT for a while though, yes. Robinson has performed well enough but I still don't think he's the guy you want protecting Baker's blind side. It could be a a high pick to bring in a starter and also a mid or late round pick to develop and add depth, or possibly take over at RT in the future. There's already precedent for Dorsey taking a tackle earlier. In fact, his very first draft pick, #1 overall, was LT Eric Fisher.

There's already precedent for Dorsey taking a tackle earlier. In fact, his very first draft pick, #1 overall, was LT Eric Fisher. We are in a good situation. If a top LT falls to our pick and is the BPA, you take him and make the line even better. If another position falls and we like that player better as BPA, take them and keep moving with Robinson and add depth later. We are playing excellent as is and we don't NEED to take a tackle. In the past, certain positions were so bad we had to take the best talent at that position whether they were BPA or they were the 15th best player left. This is how teams turn the corner. You can add top talent every draft because you don't have to take a guy way too early, or reach for "potential" and hope for the best.

I still want a TACKLE ... also wanna see what Harrison can do with an offseason of nuttin but technique, weight training for the man ... Will also say the FACT Vers sees them playing so well (the tackles) tells me i need to RE-EVALUATE .... cause i don’t see it ... And right here ... this is WHY WHATS GOING ON HURTS THE BOARD ... I’ll go get my info from Vers via PM’s ... I will ask questions and make my points ... 80 - 90% of the time he sways me with FOOTBALL KNOWLEDGE i don’t have ... he TEACHES ME and I LEARN ... Thats much better done in PUBLIC FOR TWO REASONS ... 1. EVERYONE LEARNS ... as much as the “posse” has against Vers ... only a BUTT HURT MORON would deny he knows his stuff .... 2. When we have the discussion in public ... OTHERS CONTRIBUTE .... like in the Thomas video thread a few months ago ... Purp,Vers and a few others (sorry i cant remember dawgs .. ) ... discussed and WE ALL LEARNED ... I LEARNED A TON .... even Vers learned ... he knows A TON more than most but he knows he don’t know it all ... crap just last week i was right and he was wrong ... that happens quarterly ... *LOL* .. And its a SHAME that is now missing ... i’m A PROBLEM SOLVER not a FINGER POINTER ... and right now ... FINGER POINTING IS PART OF THE PROBLEM .... Word for the day ..... FORGIVENESS .... Word for tommorow .... MOVE ON ... Happy New Year to U and your Keith ... WOOF WOOF ....

A lot of it goes back to what Ballpeen has said in the past. Pressure from the edges is usually more manageable than pressure up the middle. So what we see is the interior line providing a clean pocket, and Baker has the presence to step up, when needed, to avoid pressure coming off the edge.
I'm still looking for a big upgrade at LT, although Cle provided a reasonable alternative as well: take BPA elsewhere, add depth later. It wouldn't be my plan A but I can definitely see where he's coming from. A lot depends on who's available in free agency and how draft day unfolds.

Pressure from the right side isn't so bad. A right handed QB can see that coming and either avoid it or prepare for it. It's the hits he doesn't see coming, from his blind side that put QB's out of the game.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

That's why at the spot we pick taking a DT is so tempting. Pair them with 'Jobi and we will give QBs fits all year without even needing to blitz. That being said, another good CB or LB could really be used on D and T (LT or RT) or WR (big redzone type fade target guy, we have the rest) could really take the O from good to great. If we win the last week we will be right in the sweet spot of the draft for taking a LB, C or RT like the Steelers/Ravens do every year. Also a good spot for RB but obviously we have that covered. It's nice to have options for once!

I think he is our best OLman even though PFF says Zeitler is.
I do think he can get a bit more nasty in him. But that isn't how he plays, he still is a beast if you ask me.
Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off! Go Browns! CHRIST HAS RISEN! GM Strong! & Stay safe everyone!

I am not against obtaining a left or right tackle, but I don't think it's a necessity. This OL is playing outstanding.
Kitchens helped by calling for quicker passes. However, there are times when Baker is back there for a long, long time. It's amazing at how well the line is playing. I never would have dreamed they would be playing like this.
I think Hubbard has really come on. His combination blocks in the run game are a thing of beauty. That might be in part because he played quite a bit inside in Pittsburgh.
Robinson has done a good job in pass pro and I think Harrison has a ton of upside.
To be clear, I think we could upgrade this off-season, but I don't think we "have" to. I'd almost prefer to take a guy in 3rd-5th round and develop him. Of course, if a really good one becomes available in FA, I wouldn't complain. I haven't checked possible free agents yet.

Yup. It’s more of a luxury than a need. When has that ever been something we Brownies could say, since The Return? My God- I was in my early 40's when the Browns came back. I could still run up 2 flights of stairs without getting winded. I swam 2 miles (at speed/pace/cadence) 3 times per week. I'd park at the far end of the lot because I enjoyed hustling everywhere- and had fun feeling superior to 70% of the folks I'd see. I still rocked my six, and loved to work in my yard shirtless. My hair is gray now. I'm softer. I walk 2 flights and pause at the top (upright, and poised...I can still breathe through my nose, thank you- ). I will now cut a b# off (with malice and intent) for a closer parking space now- because time is now more important to me than vanity. That's how long it's been. In other words: Neo Browns have NEVER had that luxury. For all these years, I've wondered what it might feel like to be in this position. I'm enjoying how this feels. I'm watching a team in brown & orange play in some of the most entertaining games the NFL had to offer this year. And they are playing those games as exciting, legitimate contestants- not some gimmicky, rag-tag sideshow oddity that occasionally took down NFL powerhouses by accident/cosmic serendipity. This doesn't feel like optimism. This feels like confidence. What a pleasant and novel experience. I'm truly hoping that this group can finally sew itself into the old winning Browns pre-move tradition/history with their new-look attitude, youthful exuberance insane talent level and 21c. swag. It would be a great way to bookend the story I might write, as I compare my little kid 'Jim Brown/Frank Ryan/Gary Collins experience' with my old man 'Nick Chubb/Baker Mayfield/Callaway(?)[insert 3rd party here] experience.' Dawg- GONE, this is fun. p.s. sorry to hijack the thread. I guess I couldn't help free-associating, after reading the word 'luxury.'

Pit I am trying to remember the last time baker got blasted from the blind side. Maybe once, maybe not at all since the line change. Robinson has done a pretty dang good job as has the oline as a unit. it might depend on who is on our board and available when our turn comes up, but imho, using a really high pick for a tackle when we really , really need a corner and a receiver and a couple of d linemen would not make sense. Taking an o lineman every year in the middle rounds is important though.

I wasn't trying to suggest we needed to replace Robinson but I can see why it may have been taken that way. My reply was directed at the comment that concluded that the inside of the OL was more important than the OT position.
My point was that the LT position is the very most important position on the OL and always will be. Most all QB's are right handed and they can't see pressure coming from that left side. Keeping your QB healthy and upright is the most critical part of the game bar none.

I'm not good enough in understanding OL play, but I'd say this is the best our OL has ever looked. I don't know if it's just because we have a legit QB or RB, but I'd have a hard time switching it up now

If we could manage to solidify the left. Robinson has the ability and Physical tools to be the best Right Tackle in football.
Hopefully Harrison can hit the weight room and do that.
Hubbard would be a pretty awesome swing tackle as well.
