They'll be too busy with their soccer team to pay attention to the Browns! One could argue that might be the best of things. From reading the comments, I guess it all depends on who owns the team. The last Browns owner who did this was tarred and feathered for it. You mean the one that bought a team overseas and spent much of his time there during football season vs. someone that bought a team an hour and a half down the road?

Is Haslam using his own money to build the new stadium for the Crew?

Is Haslam using his own money to build the new stadium for the Crew? Him, Dee and the Crew's doctor pledged 230 million to the project. Columbus and Franklin county have pledged 50 million each to the project + redeveloping Mapfree stadium into a community sportsplex.

But it appears that the stadium itself will be built with private funds from the Haslams and this doctor/partner of theirs. I understand that its apples and oranges, but that's a much better deal than the people of Greater Cleveland got when Cleveland Browns Stadium was built. CBS cost $283M back in '97 with no private funding that I'm aware of. Renovations worth $120M were done in the last 5 years, with the Browns paying $90M and the public paying $30M. However, the Browns also received naming rights, which were sold to First Energy for $102M. Its good to be the NFL when it comes to getting facilities built.

I don't understand.
Jimmy and Dee investing in Ohio is a bad thing?
Be thankful.

I don't care what Jimmy and Dee do with their money (outside of their ownership of the Browns), and I also don't care about soccer in Columbus. But I do think its interesting to note the difference in the proportion of public vs private funding for building stadiums between the NFL and MLS.

That stadium needs a roof. MLS gets played during snow months.

The Crew has actually been pretty good for the city. With both the Crew and the Jackets making it to the playoffs a few times these past few years, it's been fun to watch.

Who the hell is complaining? Nobody. Haven't you figured out how things work around here? Avoid pointing out irony. It gets lost on some people.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I do not like soccer at all. But Haslams did C-bus a large favor if Crew indeed remains IMO. Jobs and sports! Be thankful the auto-Pilot took control.
