Also key on the variable, is retaining Kitchens as the OC remember Mahomes was sat and schooled in the Offense that was ran in 2017 and he performed with it and continuity in 2018 along with just about the entire Offensive roster.
If Baker maintains the same O under Kitchens then we can make some analogy and comparison.
But if its a totally new Staff then the variables go out the window in that data base.

I agree with both you and Bone. Each circumstance, QB, coach, continuity and system are different. There is no "one size fits all" in regards to sitting or starting a rookie QB.
It's also true that if we have an entirely different staff next year, it would be virtually impossible to try to compare the Mahomes of this year to the Baker of next year, both of their second seasons. It would certainly be above my pay grade to even attempt it.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Just thinking out loud.
Dorsey has blocked Freddie from interviewing with other teams.
That would seem to indicate that Dorsey would want any new guy to at least consider having Freddie as the OC.
It may be a pre-condition who knows?

Plus, since he is reportedly interviewing last, if Dorsey is blown away by Kitchens over the other candidates, he could hire him outright. Dorsey played his cards right. He seems smarter than he sounds.

It certainly seems like a possibility. But I have a hard time buying into the thought process that if he feels he has the perfect HC candidate lined up, that he would consider keeping Kitchens as the overriding factor.
I would be more of the mind of him thinking Freddie may just be "the guy" and doesn't want to risk losing him before he interviews him.
I mean I like what I've seen of Campbell, but when you really look at it, other than a short stint as HC of the Dolphins, Freddie has a much longer resume' of NFL coaching experience than Campbell does.
And the fact that they let Campbell leave town without a deal being reached leaves me to believe they felt the need to continue the coaching search.

My guess is that Dorsey will not alter his process. He will interview every guy he wants to hear. The second interview may be the one where they don't let them leave.

Except for this year, Freddie's entire coaching career has been in the role of a position coach. Campbell has 3 years as an assistant head coach and 12 games as a head coach. That's 4 years of leadership experience preparing Campbell for the position.

Added leadership responsibilities most likely. Why would someone make that up?

[/quote] So, the Saints called him an assistant HC so they could pay him more money? I'm not seeing the logic there. I could see promoting someone to that position to keep them from jumping ship, but he had the AHC title from the time he was hired.

The logic is actually pretty simple. If you believe that another team may offer him an OC position and he may consider a move, you add a title and more $$$ to prevent that. You do know that Freddie Kitchens was the asst. HC of the Browns before the 2018 season began as well?
The added money was to prevent his departure, not just for grins and giggles.
