Some days ago I noticed someone brought up the idea of a ticket section.

I wonder why that is such a bad idea??

I understood the reasons when the board was attached to the Browns main site, but now that it isn't it just seems like a carry over rule that has no real purpose.

If moderating the thing is deemed as a problem, possibly it could be put into a locked mode where only the original poster posts the info and then it is up to others to PM the person.

Really, who cares if someone wants to sell some Browns tickets....or Indians, Cavs, or WW raw or whatever that nonsense is..

It isn't that I have any to sell...I am proactive in that department and have my unused seats sold at face a few days after the schedule is released.

Thanks.

Well, it is a topic of discussion among the Refs still. We're trying to hash out amongst ourselves all of the potential Pros & Cons.... and mostly, "Do we even want to deal with it?".

There are some real pluses to it for anyone that might use it but there are also some real headaches inherent to it.... and some very real probabilities of abuses of any system that gets put in place.

I have to personally figure out if there would/could be any chance in hell of legal liability in any of it as I would technically be acting in the capacity of a matching service brokerage, though I would not be collecting any portion of the sale. There *shouldn't* be an issue there, but surprises like that really, really suck.

Then there is the matter of how do we continue to enforce the "Face Value" rule?

How long before brokerages start registering accounts to try to sell here? Do you think they'll care if they get banned? They'll just try to re-register to post again.

What if someone gets ripped off?
If we make the board fully moderated, then it is one more thing we have to remember to check, and if we don't check it frequently enough and someone' tickets don't get posted in time, and thus don't get sold... what then?

I'm throwing these out as more rhetorical than anything, but mostly as an example of what we have to consider and weigh against possible benefits as well as what we are willing to deal with. In short; will the headache be worth the effort that will be involved?

Great points..didnt the old Browns site require the tix to be sold at face value or less?? then again you have the issue of brokers dropping their link in before its noticed or removed...

That is not entirely accurate.
From the "Rules of the Pound":

TICKET/PSL SALES

If you wish to sell tickets or PSL's on the message board, this can be done, but ONLY at face value. Please state the face value of the tickets when making a post about selling tickets. All posts that do not conform to this will be deleted from the message board. Browns tickets are the only tickets that can be offered for sale on the message board.

It states, ONLY at face value. To me that means not a cent more or less.

If you are going to prevent someone from making a profit, you have to require them not to take a loss either, and they way it is stated in the rules, that is the way it is.

Oops...I've broken the rules....I've given tickets away. Sue me.

Honestly, I would like to know (if it doesn't go against Purp in any way) why we can't sell above face value. If someone makes a bad deal, that's on them. If I had tickets to the opener, for example, I would love to offer them here first...but damned if I would do it for face value. And, if someone from this board is willing to pay more than face, they would lose out simply because we can't find one another. That sucks.

Regardless, I still have tickets to the Texans for sale....face value, of course.

The rule was written so people would not be allowed to sell tickets on here above face value. It is obviously perfectly fine to sell them for less than that or to give them away if the person so chooses.

We are NOT preventing someone from making a profit, we are just making it that way on here. People are free to sell their tickets elsewhere if they feel the need to profit. There is zero requirement for them to "not take a loss."

According to your own rules....you are wrong. Maybe the rules need re-written.

I agree that if it's okay to sell them for less, it should state that....the way it reads says face only...and some people may not list them for less than face if they follow the rules. I know, I know...a novel idea around here.

If you wish to sell tickets or PSL's on the message board, this can be done at or below face value ONLY. Please state the asking price as well as face value of the tickets when making a post about selling tickets. All posts that do not conform to this will be deleted from the message board. Browns tickets are the only tickets that can be offered for sale on the message board.

just clickin Peen,

Not sure i would use the forum being discussed but i thought i'd put my 2 cents in anyways. One thing i would suggest if you do decide to do this is that you put in the rules that posters can post that they have tickets for sale and can describe the tickets (IE where the seats are) but can not post the price. If some one is interested they can PM the seller for the price, that way we don't have a bunch of posts of people bidding on tickets and a bunch of posts of "Well you said i could have them" "No i didn't" or " I was first in line". Nobody wants to see a bunch of posts of people bickering with each other over tickets. Anyways thats my 2 cents.

Well I can see why you would sell them at face or below b/c before long you will get the brokers using the site for free marketing.

Purp, how about just having a link to a outside page (Like Ebay), or have the 2 people work it out thru PM's with a disclaimer at the top stating you aren't responsible for blah blah blah. That would be cool to make it after you hit the post button the disclaimer pops up and you have to hit the "I agree" checkbox if you want to post tickets.

Not for nothin, but I wouldn't want to be the moderator who has to settle any disputes..

Today, people take legal action for virtually no reason what so ever. Take something as emotional as the Browns, add money into the mix and you have a recipe for disaster...

I have no control but if I did,, there simply wouldn't be any selling of anything on here.

Yes, that's one of the MANY reasons we've decided to not make any changes at all in this regard. The status quo will be as it has been for years:

Only Browns tickets can be offered for sale on this board.

No other tickets.
No automobiles.
No memorabilia.
No barbie dolls.
No video games.
No guns.
Etc
Etc
Etc

Well for a 1 year anyway (on this board).

I point this out, only because on some subjects a moderator states: "Thats the way it was on the original board, thats the way it is here"

But on other subjects a moderator states: "This isn't the original board, things will be done they way they are here."

This board should be ran the way PPE and you Ref's decide, but stating something similiar to above is hypocritical and sends mixed signals.

Except now at or below face value.
