We have a pretty young D and O.. Could be that putting kitchens in and keeping a couple of Veteran coaches around him like Williams might work.... Seems unlikely, but I think it could work.

To hear some talk your not ready to HC unless you're 60 years old with 35 years in the league and have been fired three or four times. Exactly the opposite that I hope for.

Have not seen anyone say that at all.

What I have said, is that a total of 8 games at a level above a position coach is very much not likely to prepare a coach to be a HC.

How much prep for HC did Freddie get done, before about two months ago? I mean serious prep as in he could get the job next season? No way he was seriously thinking that could happen.

Apparently, several GM's in the league who like young coaches just fine do not think he is ready yet, either.

And I wasn't just talking Freddie. We have candidates that have more coordinator experience it waiting on the chance. My biggest criteria is organizing skills, discipline and respect from the guys. Probably a coue more in there too.

For the first time in decades we have winning football. Why even think of messing with it. I say you give them another year at least to see what they can do with it before you blow things up. Let Greg stay the HC, his son as the DC, and let Fred run the offense. There is no need to shake the tree just for the sake of shaking things up.

Let Freddie have a few season of being an OC before we even start to think of him as a HC. To me that is just silly talk.

Stepanski has LESS time as an OC and calling plays ... so u either lied or your big brain missed it ...

And the other two examples had less EXPERIENCE calling plays .... they were token OC’s ... and didnt McVay and the other non play calling OC need time to groom there new “oc’s“ ... rofl ...

Campbell became INTERIM COACH w/o ever even being close to a coordinator or calling plays ... he went from TE coach i believe to INTERIM HC ... he was no where’s near ready ... yet he has parlayed that into multiple interviews on a yearly basis ... pretty sure that wasn’t because he WASN’T READY ... wink ...

NOT BAD FOR SOMEONE WITH NO COORDINATOR EXPERIENCE ...

U said ABSURD ... my small brain and your big brain obviously have different definitions of the word ABSURD ... thumbsup

This "could be" far more simple than some of us are making it out to be.

The main target of our HC search could simply be someone that's still involved in the playoffs. As such, these initial interviews we're seeing might well just be looking at the plan B option in case our main target doesn't seem as though he will work well with the current management structure during the interview process.

You can't say for certain if the chemistry will be there before you interview someone. So having a plan B in place makes perfect sense.

Now I'm certainly not trying to profess this is the case. But it does present a viable scenario.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

There were only two examples given. SFAIK, BOTH had more experience at OC. This is a management-level position that involves more than just calling plays.

Is it possible it could work? Sure. BUT, if it is such a good idea, then WHY DID FREDDIE GET ZERO CALLS FOR A HC JOB????? You know, from the folks who get paid to make such decisions?

You got a few folks on a message board who agree with your position. I got a bunch of highly paid professionals who do this for a living that agree with mine.

ABSURD is defined as a thing or action which serves no purpose.

Freddie has only recently been giving actual thought to such things a who his OC and DC should be, practice schedules, other staff, what color the plates in the dining room should be, a mountain of stuff. We need him READY, not groping in the dark.

Just the decision on the (possible) new OC for Baker's 2nd season is likely more important than the HC decision in the first place. My proposed plan keeps status quo, keeps Freddie, and prepares both him and the team to move upward while keeping successful systems in place. Also allows time to establish a solid offensive system for the new guy to continue, and tweak, but not re-write altogether.

If the coach we want is on a playoff team, we would have interviewed him last week. Coaches now can’t interview until their team is eliminated. What would be the point in not interviewing your favored candidate?

They know the same as for almost every candidate they have interviewed. Do we know more? About him as an OC, yes. As a HC, no.

Remember that the whole goal here is to keep Freddie as the OC to Baker, with no change in system for his second year. If we move Freddie to HC, now we have to find an OC to take over. Will Freddie be involved in that, sure, but with a whole bunch of new duties that he has given no time or serious consideration to until very, very recently, he will likely be somewhat overwhelmed and the new guy will have to develop a similar relationship with Baker, and that may not happen.

We interviewed several coaches on playoff teams. We can't hire any of them until their team is eliminated from the playoffs.

Right. The original poster I was replying to, unless I am misunderstanding, was saying that we haven’t interviewed the person we want because he is on a playoff team.

This is what the interview is for. Do you think we interviewed him and he just shrugged and said, “I coached Baker.”?

I have no idea what he said, in the only interview for HC he was invited to.

I think he will be very much more prepared next year. I do not think he is at all prepared now. I don't think a RB coach spends a lot of time thinking about who the new OC working UNDER him should be.

I don't believe this has been posted, but it's a pretty good article about "The Typical First-year NFL Head Coach's Resume and Who Fits It."

I honestly think he will never get a HC chance again. I also think that when brady retires, so does BB and Mcdaniels takes over

I thought both had at least a full year at OC, one with two. Less experience calling plays, I so stated. That is a different thing. On the OC position experience, I could be wrong, it has happened.

I don't think their experience level, at OC, outside of calling plays, was stated in the post.

If you are talking less experience calling plays, that is only one small part of the management deal.

A whole ONE interview, eh? Well, that certainly proves the point. Meanwhile no one but us has interviewed Freddie.

As much fun as it is watching everyone speculate ... it is fun seeing all the different opinions ...

NO ONE HAS A CLUE right now ... no one in the press and no one on here ... its 100% PURE SPECULATION ...

Once again ... cards held right up against the vest .... NO TABLE CAMS to see the hole cards with Dorsey involved ... *LOL* ...

The next solid piece of info we will here will be when 2nd interviews commence or we made out choice and just like with Bake the day or so before the draft ... it’ll get leaked or the tea leaves will be OVERWHELMING ...

Till then ... i’ll ENJOY THE SPECUALTION .... thumbsup

That could be the best for all involved. The D didn't look bad under Blake Williams and with Freddie as HC and Blake Williams as DC, it would certainly add youth and the possibility for a long term solution at both the HC and DC positions.

Todd Bowles and Ray Horton from his time in Arizona. I think Ray Hortonnis a hard no. Bowles was also in the Cowboys’ staff with Kitchens.

Bowles will be in high demand. Washington and the Bucs both also want him.

I’d expect the defensive coordinator, if Kitchens is hired, will be someone we don’t expect.

This dude throws more crap against the wall than anyone .... i have ZERO TRUST in what he says ...

MKC is a HACK on her best day ... she’s UNRELIABLE as hell ...

IF there getting in touch with others he’s worked with ... thats ONE of the SIGNS i was talking about in my earlier post ...

IF 3 or 4 more get INFO from not just re-tweeting rap and MKC then another thing i mentioned will be put into play ... multiple sources getting the same info from diferent sources ... jut like we knew a day or two before we drafted Bake ...

NOT SURE if thats whats happening now ... we’ll know more about that over the next few hours ...

I would be THRILLED if its him or Campbell ...

Either way .. it’ll be solved in two weeks at most ...

Kitchens BLEW PARCELLS away in an interview .... if he did that with Dorsey coupled with what he did on O this year ....

It sure would ahve made it tough on EVERYONE ELSE ...

We’ll see what happens ... who ever the choice is ..

100% on board here ... even if its McCarthy or Josh ... LETS GOOOOOoooooooooo ...

I remember reading something about Gregg Williams being willing to help the franchise wherever they want him..even special teams coach.

I got the impression that Gregg just wants to be part of the Browns turn around and is flexible according to franchise needs.
