Not HBO, that's for sure. Can we get a Hard Knocks Redux with more Freddie?

I like it. If we have another good offensive year under Freddie he would be gone anyway as we were blocking teams from interviewing him. It would suck to hire someone else, lose him next year and then our offense goes to hell with egg on our face.

Thank you John Dorsey for making this happen. Hopefully dumbass Haslam is FINALLY leaving the football people to do their job. Get out of the way, sit in your luxury box and count your money. That's all you have to do. Got it? Good.
The Browns finally have a leader in the building. It won't be long before Jim Schwartz is in charge. Thankfully.

I said all along, if you were worried about Freddie ever leaving, just name him the HC.
Go Browns!

I wonder what's gonna happen at DC?
Will Gregg come back after being passed over?

At least (I tend to believe) Fredd will not let the O go off the rails in some crazy direction that any new offensive coordinator might desire to take it. He knows his guys and can be a guiding force for stability and continuity. I like a young guy. His success? Yet to be seen. Good luck if this news is true!

Yikes.
Don't get me wrong, I like Freddie. I don't see how he's qualified, though. Anybody who bagged on some of the young college coaches being hired and campaigned for Freddie at the same time need to take a step back and see how hypocritical that is.
I dunno... I like what Freddie did, I just think we've interrupted continuity, yet again, by removing him from the OC position.
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

I wanted Freddie to remain as the OC, too. I thought his play calling and design was the biggest difference in the team last year.
I think asking him to be the HC, OC, and play caller is quite a bit to ask considering his resume.
But, I have an open mind about it and Dorsey has made a ton of good moves since arriving.
Good luck, Freddie.

I have to say, Kitchens was my preferred choice. I don’t know if he will be good or not, but this is a great story of somoone grinding for years and getting a dream job. That is really cool no matter what.
Now let’s get some wins!

It is an interesting hire and I like it... Browns seemed insistent on keeping Kitchens around which turned off some candidates, so they just in turn hired Kitchens. We'll see how this turns out... I'm going to guess it ends very well.

I don't hate Haslam... and I can't tell you for sure who was the driving force behind this hire. We may find out, we may not... although it does seem to be Dorsey. Down the road, I'll be curious to see how Stefanski turns out.

Yeah, I really don't want to make it seem like I don't like the hire or am not on board with the hire (as if it matters if I'm on board). I really like Kitchens. But if you take away the familiarity, we just hired a guy because he was an interim OC for 8 weeks.... It was a great 8 weeks, especially when you compare it to what the team looked like the 8 weeks prior... but it's still just 8 weeks. That's kinda nuts.
I believe in Dorsey. I'm certainly not jumping off the cliff or anything. I'm just really worried we managed to screw up a very positive looking situation. My pipe dream was to hire Arians and have him finish up prepping Kitchens for the HC gig.
Anybody we hired was going to have question marks. Hell, look at the hires (except for Tampa) that happened right before us. Super questionable resumes getting picked for HC positions. I guess it's just the reality the NFL is in right now. At least for us, we're more familiar and intimately knowledgeable of our questionable hire.
I've said this before about most of our recent hires. He's really inexperienced, so I hope that we've properly made ourselves ready for some growing pains and give him a longer leash. Leash can't get much shorter than it's been...

Where are all the Haslam haters saying Dorsey wasn't going to get his guy? Still a Haslam hater. Cool for you. Yet he is the guy that owned this team when Baker Mayfield was drafted. And the fact remains, a lot of you guys were screaming he was gong to blow it up, and Dorsey wasn't making the hire. It is blatantly obvious by the fact Kitchens was hired, that was all false and you all were wrong.

I like FK as well, but this promotion is more than "fast-tracking", it's like warp speed. I hope he hasn't bitten off more than he can chew. A 5-3 interim staff is broken up; there had to be some 'movement' behind the scenes that we were unaware of...

I'm going to guess it ends very well. I really really hope that the deciding factor wasn't that we hired him as HC because maybe, possibly, at some point down the line, hypothetically... he'd get hired away. We blocked him from interviewing because he was getting calls for OC positions. Not HC positions.

Can't say I'm all that happy with the hire, but I'll trust Dorsey. But the fact this was supposed to be the best job out there, I feel like we settled. I go back to Dorsey being a personnel guy and never having to hire a coach. Hope this works or we will be back doing this again next year.

Leash can't get much shorter than it's been... Freddie played the game and has been in the NFL learning for YEARS - under a lot of great coaches. Every coach begin their HC career as inexperienced. Paul Brown was inexperienced as a HC at one point.

I highly doubt that they hired Fredd just off their own 8 week perception. I'll bet they spoke to darn near everyone he's ever coached under and some, including Baker, that's he's coached. Not at all concerned that he was under scrutinized.

Well Freddie had the longest interview.
Dorsey went through a lengthy process. He did his due diligence.
Congratulations Freddie you got an opportunity and seized it.
Maybe we stuck gold. Freddie seems like a guy who has been overlooked most of his life. Came up the hard way. Has been good at his job. When he got the OC job; he starting running and never looked back.
It is helpful to the team. They know him. Know what to expect. He is going to be Freddie. Straight ahead and honest as the day is long.
The offense will benefit. No new language. Nobody new to make an impression on. Build on what has been done.
My guess is GW is gone.
We shall see what the staff looks like.

I'm going to guess it ends very well. Just think how much Baker must love Kitchens and how important that relationship is for this all to happen. Kitchens is such a great story and a genuinely good guy. It's great seeing good things happen to people like that.
