True. We can only go up from Amos Jones. That, and once we turnover 50% of the 60% roster turnover from last year in regards to depth via the draft and FA, etc., we should be better.

A very typical political move also.Deny, deny, deny, apologize, seek counselling.
I wish more coaches had that type of moral fiber.

I'm guessing there are NFL players with similar moral fiber in the locker room.

And many other rooms in the world.

So, does it matter that this was 7 YEARS AGO, or should everybody just call him names and hate him for the rest of his life??

In terms of Special Teams DVOA rankings, Priefer seems mediocre, which is an upgrade over Amos Jones.

I'm guessing Mary Kay will ask him about it.

I don't have a strong opinion. If people are angry about what was said years ago, I get it. If people accept his contrition, I get that too.

Are you kidding? The guy told a gay joke 7 years ago, which the gay punter suing him actually laughed at. He served a suspension and took sensitivity classes. Are you saying the classes were ineffective? Should he pay a higher price? Here's an excerpt from your article about the accuser:

Quote:
Portions of the report painted Kluwe in a poor picture, like his jokes about the Jerry Sandusky scandal and an incident where he dropped his pants in front of 20-25 businesspeople who were touring the locker room.

Then this clown planned to sue the team for 10mil.

Yes,yes I did.
I've also said much worse things and hurt many people. But,this is the part you are not comprehending,I had the courage to say I was wrong and I'm sorry.I didn't weasel around the truth, didn't back pedal nor deny.
What he said doesn't bother me.The lack of accountibilty does.

I don't care if the guy doesn't like Gays if he can stop the long runbacks, blocked punts and blocked and missed field goals.

Well, Kluwe was suing the Vikings, Priefer's employer. Do you think denying the allegations may have had something to do with the Vikings opening an investigation and advising him to do so? I mean, it's possible. And let's be honest, we live in a society where our entire judicial system is based on NOT admitting guilt from the opening bell.

To avoid the lawsuit, things were carried out exactly the way Kluwe insisted, all his "demands" were met, including donations to the LGBT community and hosting events for the same.

Then Priefer said this:
"I owe an apology to many people -- the Wilf family, the Minnesota Vikings organization and fans, my family, the LGBT community, Chris Kluwe and anyone else that I offended with my insensitive remark," Priefer said. "I regret what has occurred and what I said. I am extremely sorry but I will learn from this situation and will work on educating others to create more tolerance and respect."

Kluwe, on the other hand, decided everything he asked for and received wasn't enough and went on a crusade to further smear the name of Priefer and the Vikings. His continues to this day...

Chris Kluwe gets 'revenge' as Mike Priefer joins Browns coaching staff
Kluwe wasted no time after hearing the news.

Former Vikings punter Chris Kluwe didn't waste time to reveal his thoughts into the Twitterverse after catching word of Mike Priefer's exit from the Vikings.

"The best revenge is living well," Kluwe typed in a tweet, a version of the quote attributed to 17th Century British poet George Herbert.

The timing of the tweet was the only thing suggesting it was aimed at Priefer, but doubts about his target were erased less than an hour later with a report that Priefer was headed to Ohio to become special teams coordinator for the Cleveland Browns.

Kluwe tweeted a less subtle jab: "I lied the best revenge is watching someone join the Browns."

Pretty much class act all the way. thumbsup

Society is getting more pitiful year by year. There used to be a thing called freedom of speech. Now it only belongs to "protected" groups. You can call a low income person living in a mobile home "trailer trash" or country people "rednecks", but make a joke about "protected" groups, and you are the scum of the earth. I'm sick of the hypocrisy and double standard.

j/c: Our special teams are now fixed. Just like they were last year after we fired Tabor. It's all about scheme on special teams and has nothing to do w/the players.

Seriously............schemes are very difficult on special teams. It takes a coaching genius to copy lane coverage and blocking schemes from others. I mean, really, you have to be very creative w/your schemes on special teams in order to be successful.

Really.

I agree with you. It's the players who make the difference. The better the bottom of the roster gets, and adding guys who thrive on STs make it better.

Thanks. Trust me, scheming for Special Teams is simple.

It was harder this past year because of the rule changes on kickoffs, but guys adjusted fairly quickly. The hardest thing was getting your guys not to move before the kick, but then again, that is an execution thing.

I played on a lot of STs when I was young, and I agree it is discipline in your assignment that makes the difference. That and being a good tackler. One guy out of his lane or overrunning the play, and boom, you got a problem.

Those bashing a ST coach because a kicker misses kicks don't get how it works. Kickers are like golfers, some have it and never lose it, others get the shanks and are done. Coaching can't help much.

On the other hand, we have seen more blocked FGs and punts in the last couple years than I remember ever happening before. There has to have been something essentially wrong with the protection.

That's a possibility, but I doubt it. It's not like you have guys spread all over the field. They are jammed together and block the man that crosses your face. It's not hard.

I'll be more clear. I think that Dorsey should and will emphasize upgrading the talent at the bottom of the roster this year. That will improve the play of the Special teams.

He had to do so much work last year in overhauling the roster that he wasn't able to get to the ST unit which was severely neglected by the previous regime.

I still have nightmares thinking about Ricardo Louis running down in coverage and completely whiffing on tackles.

I'm a fan of drafting extra DBs and LBs late to play on kick coverage teams, not WRs. I remember a DB from back in the late 70s named Van Green. Guy never saw the field on defense, but he was a ST banger.

Tabor was an excellent special teams coach, very underrated in Cleveland. Amos sucked. We got lucky on so many plays where guys were out of position on kickoffs and punts.

I agree. LBers and DBs typically make your best Special Teams guys. There are some good WRs, like Cribbs, Tasker, Moore, etc............but for the most part it's LBers and DBs.
