Mitchell would be another really good hire.

Who is OC? Did I miss the hire or they still looking? GM is going to be the OC. Nothing official yet.

I think they're still talking to Bobby Joe Cooter about OC.

I would think so.
We are also interviewing the Packers well respected OL coach, James Campen.

I was just reading an article that opined that the front office wanted to get rid of the Hue hires ..... so even some good coaches, like Wylie, were let go.

We are also interviewing the Packers well respected OL coach, James Campen.
From an Article on BrownsZone with Scott Petrak:
Campen is under contract with the Packers but they allowed him to interview with the Browns. Packers coach Mike McCarthy was fired in December and Matt LaFleur hired as coach this week.
Campen has helped six Packers linemen to the Pro Bowl: tackles David Bakhtiari and Chad Clifton, guards Josh Sitton and T.J. Lang and centers Jeff Saturday and Scott Wells. Don't recall Saturday with the Pack. I think of him as a Colt. Still, the Packers have consistently put a good OL unit on the field. Although we ran the ball much better after Kitchens became OC, we still had too many plays where Chubb was stuffed at the LOS.

If I remember back when Saturday had his last games they played the colts and he switched sides to snap to manning one last time

That wouldn't happen in a real game but I think something like that happened in the pro bowl.

And our New and Improved game planning as well. Is that something else I need to tank Dorsey for doing?

Wouldn't a "big hire" imply somebody that would demand to call his own plays? I wonder how that will work?

The more I think about it, I think Kitchens would be alright with someone else calling the plays. I don't take him as an ego guy. I'm sure he will have input if that happened, but if he hires a good OC, I could see him stepping back. He will still have his connection with Baker.
I hope he still does though, he has a good feel for what will work.
RIP, Jim

J/c Is it me or does it feel like the vast majority of the coaching staff seems like it was hand picked by Dorsey? Aside from Freddie bringing In a few buddies from Arizona. If these supposed hirings are true, most of them are unknowns. At least the all seem to have a good amount of coaching experience. https://247sports.com/nfl/cleveland-brow...ight-127794204/

Campen is one coach Dorsey worked with for a long time. He also has been an oline coach for 11 years. As far as hiring unknowns, I don't agree. Like I wrote above Campen is a well known long tenured O line coach. Mike Priefer has been a special teams coordinator for over 6 years. Steve Wilks was only a coordinator one year in the pros before becoming a head coach but has a very long history in the NFL as well as some college experience. Todd Monken has been an offensive coordinator at the college level as well as for 3 years at Tampa Bay. He was also a head coach in college. He has a limited record of calling plays in the pros (15 games) but I don't see that as an issue because I believe (gut feeling) Freddie will be calling plays.

As far as I know the only coach we’ve hired that has real ties to Dorsey is the offensive line coach.

Looks like we have made some very good hires...dotted line not signed but.
OC Monkon, DC Wilks, OL Campen, ST Mike Priefer
note I probably miss spelled a lot of names...lol
Now to get everyone on the SAME PAGE WORKING Together. Kitchens is up to the task and will be the HMIC...
With Dorsey backing him up and giving him all the tools needed to move forward.

I don't know enough about any of the guys we have hired .... so I won't speculate or try to guess what schemes they will run and how it will fit. I'll just root for them and wish them success.
Two points that I do want to make -
1. We don't seem to see any press or media of reports that we aren't getting our first choice. Whether you agree with the hire's or not - it's refreshing to not see another coach we targeted blow the Browns off for a different team .... what was Pettine? About our 5th pick? Someone we no doubt offered a HC gig to that no-one else was going to.
2. What are reasonable expectations for next season? I'm not sure how long it will take for the new coaching staff to settle in ... I'm not sure it's fair to saddle them with uber high expectations .... but at the same time I hope that by the preseason I will expect nothing less than play-offs. I think we should challenge for the division title. . . . it remains to see what the Ravens, Steelers and Bengals do to overhaul or improve .... but:
- we won 7 games while starting the season with a dysfunctional FO and bad coaching. - we lost 2 games outright where we were flat out robbed by the refs. You could argue that another game should have been won. . . . that's the base line. - while a lot depends on continued excellent play and improvement from Baker ... there isn't any reason to believe or forecast a regression. - Still to be seen but it does look like Ben is aging and there is a good chance AB will be gone ... Lamar may have been a little exposed - and the side of the Browns team that should see most of the upgrades will be the D which will help the Browns to stop him (and other teams). - we still have good draft capital and cap space. I'm not suggesting we blow it all - but it gives us a lot of flexibility to target one or two key targets. . . remember when we snagged Zeitler and Tretter because the draft was weak on OL that year? Maybe something like that?? idk - just a thought.
So - with a coaching change how much does it impact and reduce or dampen expectations? Is it unfair to expect play offs? Or based on the huge step forward and a franchise QB in place ... will playoffs become the threshold?

So we still need a linebackers coach and tight ends coach.
I think we retained Dewayne Walker and the defensive like coach (I don’t remember his name).

They'll get to know each other a little better and get to know Dorsey a little better before the combine. I'm impressed that they got this done so quickly, basically 15 days. Not so bad I guess. Not sure of some of these folks. Don't have a dossier on them, so nothing to say specifically. Just glad they are getting it together.
