I'm with crfs, the probowl is meaningless anymore. I remember Polamalu made the probowl in a year where he didn't play half the season. It's a popularity contest. Being an alternate does get it on your resume',but it doesn't mean the same as if your were the first one voted in.
I remember, I think it was MKC, asking Baker about being an alternate and if he would be proud. I think he said something on the lines of being an alternate meant nothing to him. That's how I would feel too.
Making the pro bowl is not meaningless IMO, how many years did we have zero to maybe 1 player named to the pro bowl, you are named and in a position to be named by how you perform on the field, we have 4 pro bowlers and a few others that could end up there this year I don't think the game means a whole lot but for your peers and fans to look at you as good enough to be named to the pro bowl team is a great honor and I for one am very happy for those Browns whom have made the team ...

I don't understand the attitudes of some people. The fans vote, sure, and it is a popularity contest I will give you that. However, there are what 1700 players in the NFL give or take during the season? The pro bowl roster is 44 players a team I believe, so even with alternates that means that perhaps 100 players get an opportunity to spend a week with fans competing in drill comps and just having a good time with the people who voted for these players to take part in that? How is that meaningless exactly?
You may poo poo the notion that one of our players gets to take part in that experience but to be recognized within the top 100 players regardless if you think the game itself is pointless is pretty freaking awesome!! Go Browns!!

The catch against the rats on the last drive may have been the toughest catch made in the entire season by any reciever ... he did that with DUDE DRAPPED ALL OVER HIM ... talk about a tough butt catch ... catches 6, 5 and 4 are pretty darn awesome .... dude can catch but he best lose the dropsies he had this year ... no clue where that came from but it needs to stop ... so out of character for him ...
I just pray King John don’t screw up like he did with this guy anymore ... GOD FORBID we overpay for players like this .. we certainly can’t have that!!! ...

I usually ask the same about some here...
He had arguably his worst season with arguably the best quarterback he's ever had.
Diam pointed out the one thing he does well, catch the ball, he didn't really do that well at all this year. Trying too hard to make a play? Maybe. I dunno.
He wasn't even our best WR and he's paid like a #1.
I would love it if he were to pan out and become great but history shows he won't. I went into the season hoping he would prove me wrong. He was disappointing at best.
The word on the street is that Landry will improve if we add better receivers to the WR group. Saying that alone doesn't speak highly of Jarvis... and after watching this season, I have to believe that as the WR group improves, Landry's production will continue to drop... but I guess we'll just wait and see.
I'm not saying he's worthless, but there are better options here.

Very true. But we need to find a #1 WR like Josh not a #1 wr like Hawkins. the difference between a #1 option and the only option.
If you take his performance this year and spread it out over a 15 game season, he would have 1133 yards, and an 11.3 yards/catch. That's with Tom Brady for every game he played.
Jarvis had something like 160 yards less, but he played with Baker for only 13.5 games. His yards/catch is higher than Edleman's.
I expect the whole team to take a step forward next season. I think that an off-season program will help Callaway will become a more rounded receiver, and a bigger threat. I hope we bring back Perriman, and Higgins. I think each has something to contribute to a top 10 offense.
I do expect that we will look in the 3rd-5th round for another receiver ..... but I doubt that it's a "panic position", where we sell out to get one at all costs. Maybe a team wants to "sell cheap", like the Dolphins did with Landry, and we add a veteran like that.
One thing I suspect is that we will not go into the draft looking for a WR in the 1st round. The Steelers are famous for finding receiver gems late in the draft. Why? Because of their QB, who puts them in position to win. Who would you rather have from the 2016 draft ..... Michael Thomas, or any of the other 5 receivers who came off the board before him? (including a certain Corey Coleman, who can fly ..... he just can't catch)
We need a collection of receivers who can play, because the ball may be on them at a moment's notice. We have a QB who has shown the ability to throw receivers open. Heck, we saw slow ... ahem ..... Darren Fells split the defense on a long TD catch and run. Pure speed isn't a prerequisite in this offense, though Perriman is a nice tool to have in the toolbox.
The nice thing we have right now is a bunch of guys who can beat 1 on 1 cover when they have to. They can find the holes in a zone, and settle in. Mayfield knows how to get them the ball in either case.
My biggest concern with Landry really isn't all his fault. If you look at his 1st games with Mayfield, Baker threw to him way too often. Counting, and staring with the Jets game, right up to the moment Hue and Haley were fired, he was targeted in double digits for 6 straight games.
Then Freddie took over, and the ball started moving around. I don't think that a "#1" is going to dominate the ball in this offense. I think this offense need 4 or 5 really competent receivers, who can get open, and catch the ball.

Agreed - the last thing this team needs is "#1" Diva receiver who demands the ball.
I would rather have 4 guys who ball out, get open, and make plays when their number is called. Makes the QBs job easier. Spread the ball around. Tougher to defend.
Jarvis was much better once BM started to spread the ball around as was the offense.

Landry wasn't used as a source of cheap yards in his new home; his average target traveled 10.8 yards in the air, way up from the almost comically low 6.6-yard average Landry worked with during his three years in Miami. Simultaneously, though, Landry went from catching nearly 69 percent of his passes from 2015 to 2017 in Miami to just 54.4 percent in Cleveland last season. The changes weren't for the better, as Landry finished 79th in individual receiving DVOA, suggesting that the Browns might need to return Landry to his specialized role to get the sort of return they were hoping to garner from their top wideout.
