So will I. Most of it isn't a big deal. And you have to love the kids talent. I'm as quick to compliment him as I am to criticize him. But acting like you're grabbing your junk on the sideline is pretty dumb.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Pit,there is no excuse that could possibly be made for most of the idiotic behavior throughout the NFL.I guess I've become numb to it. Winning games is all I care about anymore. And as a fan I can certainly understand that. I was just pointing out that we as fans don't always look at it from a business aspect like the NFL and the owners do.

Maybe the Browns just need to put up a second tent on the sidelines, not a blue one, an orange one. This one will be for anyone wanting to act like a moron, if only for a moment, but no cameras can get in. Of course this tent will need to be bigger as it will have to encompass any teammates who want to celebrate with him.

Much hand-wringing over nothing.
My 23 yr old daughter and her 24 year old boyfriend (big NFL fans) didn't see the gesture. I showed them what he did...neither one had any idea what it meant. I had to explain it to them.

J/C I see some on here are bent over backwards about Baker (again?? ) I believed this was covered by Kitchens earlier by saying it was an inside joke between Baker and the coaches.I see this as a nonissue but I guess Kitchens is immature too by some in this forum.

I love Baker because of his play, his potential, his "electrification" of the team, LOL, the fan base and organization. And him pretending to expose himself isn't that big of a deal to me, and maybe you live with that sort of thing when he gives us everything else with his play on the field. I'd just prefer he didn't do it, it is high schoolish. More to the point, I'd prefer he didn't get caught.

I get what you're saying but, if the coaches are doing it too, maybe its the demeanor that's driving the whole team. Sometimes you just got to put it on the table for all to see ( as another poster stated). I know its all a matter of opinion but I love the swagger. It's just showing a certain confidence to the team and the fan base. Plus having a little fun doing it, that's the whole message. Just a little fun with the guys.

I admit that we've needed that swagger from a QB, especially when he can back it up. Don't worry man, I'm all in with Bake, unlike Pitdawg, who hates him. .

Gotta be honest, I had no clue what he was doing at the time. Nor did my wife or son. Rewatched and I said "look at Bake with Kitchens, showing him he's rolling the dice". I seriously thought he was throwing down "hot" dice. The whole celebration lasted 7/10 of a second. Nobody knew nothin' til the NFL levied the fine. Just another case of the NFL chopping at it's nose despite it's blind face.
I'm glad Bake is getting a fair dose of "As the NFL Turns" his rookie year and can see where his actions may lead during these episodes. Whether penalty, fine or just bad PR. If he takes all that with a grain and comes out firing with the same attitude next season, so be it. I may have to cringe a few times or even yell at him over a penalty or two, we could do worse.
If you weren't at the Jets game, you missed something during a commercial break. After the first TD (and 2pt conversion to Baker), he walked way past the bench and marched the sideline close to the fans, pumping his arms at the fans and yelling his head off. Suddenly you knew we were going to win a game. He was willing you to know it with how passionately he knew it. Hadn't seen that in a long time by any Browns player.
Get used to Baker being Baker, he's already said he's not changing for anyone.

Back on track: John Dorsey on Baker Mayfield: ‘I can’t wait to see what he does next year’ | cleveland.com https://www.cleveland.com/browns/2019/01...ncart_big-photoMOBILE, Ala. — At the Senior Bowl last year, Browns general manager John Dorsey already knew that Baker Mayfield was his man at No. 1. A year later, Mayfield holds the record for most touchdown passes as a rookie with 27 and is a leading contender for NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. Dorsey believes the best is yet to come. “He’s mature beyond his age group and I’m just happy he’s a member of the Cleveland Browns organization and I can’t wait to see what he does next year,’’ Dorsey said Tuesday between practices at the Senior Bowl. Dorsey met with Mayfield for the first time here last year and it confirmed for him that he was the pick. “I knew in my heart of hearts what he was back in the month of October, November, but I think you keep that to yourself and you listen to everybody,'' Dorsey said. "You don’t want to influence the room and you want the room to have Baker earn their respect and I think he did that for everybody in the organization.’’ Lightning struck twice for Dorsey with the selection of Patrick Mahomes with the No. 10 pick by the Chiefs in 2017, and then Mayfield at No. 1 in 2018. Mahomes, of course, just lost a heartbreaker to the Patriots in the AFC Championship Game, but finished first in the NFL with 50 touchdown passes and second in the league with 113.8 rating. Can Mayfield be Mahomes? “First off, I’m not going to talk about another team’s player," he said. “I will talk about Baker Mayfield. I like everything about his makeup. I like how his teammates really rally behind him, I like his eyes downfield, I like his accuracy with his deep throws, I like how he shows that fighter’s spirit when it comes time to come back, he’s fighting through to come back and I applaud those things. He’s dynamite (in the red zone), he’s very good." With the Rams’ Jared Goff making it to the Super Bowl in his third season, Carson Wentz helping the Eagles get there in his second year and Mahomes almost making it in his first as a starter, is that where the bar is set for Mayfield, who was one of the hottest quarterbacks in the NFL in the final eight games of the season? “All along, we’ve said Baker’s a rookie, and I think there are exponential really good learning curves," he said. “I’ve always said 20-25 percent improvement, now it’s up to that player with the staff that’s been assembled here now is to grasp as much as he can and move forward and you would expect to see really good strides from him.’’ Dorsey believes Mayfield will make significant progress on his own this offseason. “You want to see him have a greater understanding of defenses, taking this offensive playbook and adding to where he left off and develop into that mature leader that I expect him to be and move forward in a positive direction.’’ This season, Mayfield will have a new offensive coordinator in former Bucs OC Todd Monken, and a new quarterbacks coach in Ryan Lindley, who was promoted from running backs coach and hand-picked by Freddie Kitchens. Monken, who ran the No 1 passing offense in the NFL last year, brings plenty of experience in the Air Raid offense that Mayfield excelled in at Oklahoma. Dorsey believes he’ll be great for Mayfield and a tremendous compliment to Kitchens. “To me, you get another idea guy in there in the offensive staff room and when you have people like Freddie and Todd and some of the other coaches in there just game planning and building off of each other, it does nothing but create a really good environment for the whole offensive side of the football,’’ he said. He also believes that Kitchens and Mayfield will continue to have the synergy that was evident the final eight games. “It’s always good when the offensive head coach and the quarterback think like-minded,’’ said Dorsey. “That’s a good thing.” He also thinks Lindley will build on the work that former quarterbacks coach Ken Zampese did with Mayfield, who threw 19 TDs and eight interceptions the second half of the season en route to a 106.2 rating. He was also sacked only five times in that span. “Ryan, in his own right, is a really good up-and-coming coach,’’ said Dorsey. “He has a relationship with Baker as well.” Because of Kitchens, Monken and Lindley, Dorsey doesn’t think Mayfield needs much tweaking or tutoring in his time off before the offseason program. “I think he’s got three qualified people here and that’s why they’re here,’’ he said. “They teach young people what to do in the game of football. With Mayfield winning six games in 2018 and coming off the bench to win a seventh, are playoffs the expectation next year? “We’ve said all along we want to be competitive year in and year out in the AFC North and we will be competitive in the AFC North,’’ he said.
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

The Bakerman had an incredible rookie year.
Like Dorsey I am super curious to see how he performs next season.
No quarterback musical chairs. One starter getting all the first teams reps starting in OTA's.
He will know the offense. He will have the time to develop timing and chemistry with the receivers.
The offense in general should be way more settled from the OL, TE's, RB's, and receivers.
What I hope Baker is doing this off season is studying defenses. The quarterback coach and Stanton should both be helpful. But Baker is no longer a rookie. He has to take a critical eye to where he can improve from last year. Study defenses he struggled against, because he will see more of those given; he will be game planned against.
Baker is a bright guy. He knows what the expectations will be. He has lived under the magnifying glass for quite some time. He will be ready.
I think we will have one of the top offenses in the league.

Didn’t we have that last off season with Taylor?

Come on. This about Baker getting all the reps.
You know the history. Did Baker get all the first team reps during OTA's and camp last year?

The kid works hard, he is not lazy in any way. He also is one very determined young man and still has a chip on his shoulder to be THE BEST QB in the NFL as a goal.
He will take a little vacation I'm sure as its been none stop from College to College playoffs to preparing for the draft. to starting his rookie NFL season.
So a little rest and then off to great things and working hard towards some goals!

He will get better. tOSU put the beatdown on him his jr year in college. After the last game, he talked about how much he learned from that and prepared for the next year. Riley has talked about how hard Baker works to make even minor adjustments to improve. I think we'll see an elite qb next year stat wise.

Either one would have been a fine choice .. its not like this was even remotely close to a snub ... Bake did historic things ... so did Bark ... this is where your numbers DECIEVE U ... Everyone’s gonna point to Zeke’s rookie year ... VARIABLES were night and day ... starting wth there OL’s ... Zeke is a GREAT RB so don’t take this wrong way ... but he played behind what IMO was the best OL since maybe the cowboys OL back with the triplets ... that was ONE HELL OF AN O ... Bark had him and OBJ and no OL and a washed up QB that should have been sent out to pasture 2 or 3 years ago ... They were two totally different situations ... Not to diminish what Bake did ... WOW ... WERE so lucky we have him .. I’m THRILLED he didnt win it ... ANOTHER CHIP IN THE BAG ON HIS SHOULDER ... Co-winner would have been fine with me ...

Baker won the Heisman, the best player of all his peers, not just a small hand full of 1st year players in impactful positions. Then his play provee why he earned it. The Heisman is an event in and of itself, televised for the world to see. ROY, it's a screen crawl on ESPN.
Just remember, no player strikes the ROY pose.

It doesn't bother me that he didn't win it. If the other player hadn't played for a NYC team, it might have gone the other way.
Bake didn't really get rolling until mid season. Bark was rolling from game one, so he had the eyes of the writers on him for a longer period of time.

I am not buying the NYC thing. The Browns got a lot more positive attention on the national level than the Giants did this year.
I think both guys had great seasons and both were deserving. I will add that there were a ton of excellent rookies this past year. I believe it was an epic class.

It is all about the NYC thing.
Mayfield was Rookie of the Week (Pepsi mind you) SEVEN times. Not one other QB won the award.
Only two other players won that award more than ONCE - and one of those two was a running back NOT NAMED Barkley...our own Nick Chubb.
Four RBs won the award...Chubb with TWO and Barkley, Samuels and Lindsay with ONE each.
Baker did what he did at the most difficult position in the NFL...maybe in sports altogether. Coming off a winless season and the firing of the HC & OC...playing in three fewer games breaking a QB rookie record.
If you were starting a team from scratch and could pick any rookie you wanted, you'd take Mayfield and not think twice about it.

It’s not hating on Baker. It’s about the NFL propping up their big market teams. It’s about the N.Y. writers having bigger influence than the small market Cleveland beat writers. I pretty much expected the award was Barkley’s. Not because he was the most deserving, but for the reasons I listed above. On to the 2019 season.

But it sounds like it's all about the stats with you. Baker meant more to the Browns than Barkley to the Giants. Consider for a moment the Browns have won 7+ games only twice since making the playoffs in 2002 until this season and they did it with a rookie quarterback. Giants have a possible hall of fame quarterback who has won 2 super bowls and one of the best WR in the game according to some. We finished 2.5 games better than them. Giants might have a great player but will regret passing on a QB.

When RBS have statistically great years, they have won the NFL Offensive Player of the Year award - not the NFL MVP award. That almost always goes to a QB. I think the same holds true with this award.
Had it been the NFL Rookie MVP Award, Baker would have won hands down. Offensive player of the year - A stud RB with good stats wins the award.

Yet the NFL has devalued the position in terms of contracts. QB is the most important position on the field and the good ones are the highest paid players in the NFL. Their value always surpasses the RB position. Until of course it comes to recognizing the young ones?
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Both players had great years. The difference to me is the position. If I had a vote I would have chosen Baker. Not because he is a Brown. But because of what he did to lead the team.
However, it is no big deal to me.
I am happy to have Baker as our guy.
I can not wait till September.

They may have devalued the position, but a RB has won the Offensive Player of the Year in 2012, 2014, and 2017.
Only Peterson won the MVP in those same years.
The point being is that there should be 2 awards - just like for non-rookies. Rookie offensive player of the year and Rookie MVP.
