Flacco should have a market, right?

I can see Jax and NYG really wanting him. Maybe the Skins if Smith is out too

I think cause he was released and then brought on again he is entering his RFA year???

Anyways I think:
I think Ray Ray Armstrong is not a deep thought guy, ST with a new ST guy coming on board...one of a hundred... so unless he is a leader does not really matter as a big decision or not.

Boddy-Clahoun, is a RFA... definitely should be tagged. New DC will decide which tag he will get.

Burris DB I think is signed until 2020???

Carrie also is signed to 2022 don't know why these both are considered FA maybe cause they state FA after the last year of the contract shown on Roto world???

Carl Davis a none factor guy up to new DC would not cost much.

E. J. Gaines...one year contract up...should not be a big deal one way or another. UDFA might take his place.

K, Greg Joseph...what do you think???

Perriman, I would love to have him back but if his agent has him asking silly money, let him go.

Greg Robinson, definitely sign him up...but again if he is asking for Solder money...let him go especially if we think the lay off and off season regimen has Harrison ready to be the guy.

Tyrod Taylor...let him go Stanton will remain and bring in another Rookie or a guy Dorsey likes that was let go like lets say White is let go by the Cowboys...pick him up for the #3.

Wtford OL...ehh one way or another just ST help???

Whitehead DB...ERFA, up to new guys on ST mostly

One thing I noticed is that in 2020 we got a slew of players who will fall into the FA bracket...we got to start signing some of these using a portion of the cap.

The Giants are one of the dumbest teams in the league. They’re going to convince themselves that Eli can play one more year.

No wager. I for one think it would be foolish for the Eagles to trade Wentz. But some seem to think it's possible... I wonder if we even have this conversation if Parkey makes that kick.

Gettleman has already stated that running back is more important than quarterback. Thank god we didn't hire him.

*technically via drafting Barkley over Darnold, Rosen, Allen or Jackson.

if Eli plays another year it's absurd

Eli had one of his better years statistically. 21 TDs 11 INTs 4,299 YDs. The Giants problem was not Eli. The problem was everyone but Eli and Saquon. The offensive line is old. The defense is old. OBJ was injured, again, but Eli still managed to get his yards. In the past clutch receivers made some incredible plays to keep things going, this year it didn't happen. Eli was never Peyton, he is more like a very lucky Josh McCown.

I expect the Giants to draft Haskins.

Which made it all-the-more-STUPID for Dallas to keep starters in week 17 and beat the Giants.

Giants are drafting 6th, had they won against Dallas it would have been 10th. Nothing like helping your division arch-rivals get the asset they need while giving nothing to get it. Some teams just can't see the forest through the trees.

Agreed.
It’s why I think being a 4-6 win team is worse for a franchise, in the long run, than being a 0-1 win team. Draft position is king for a losing franchise. Four wins doesn’t do crap for your team except potentially drop you out of contention for franchise changing type of draftable talent.

Perhaps.. but I still expect the Giants to have to trade up to get Haskins.

I don't make monetary bets...but I'll say that I think Foles has and will-have a better career than Wentz...and Mayfield will have a better career than either of those guys...by a long shot.

Wentz is a big guy and seems like a great teammate, however, he makes a living on throwing to a great TE over the middle and dump offs at or behind the LOS that turn into chunk plays. He doesn't throw to WRs like Foles does and I don't recall seeing him "throw open" guys like Mayfield does. I think Wentz is overrated and on a very good team. JMO

Couldn’t agree less about the Foles/Wentz comparision ... u may be right about Bake ... bakes got a shot to be better than anyone form the last 3 years at QB that dont have Pat as there first name ...

Phili STUNK his rookie year ... they STUNK ... LITERALLY ...

In 17 he had them HUMMING when Foles took over for the playoffs ....

This year they were NOT LOSING cause of Wentz ...and Foles was BRUTAL in the first game or two he started this year while Wentz was still recovering from his ACL tear ...

There’s a reason the Iggles picked up Jordan Mathews around the 1/3rd mark of the season I believe ...

There’s a reason they traded for Golden Tate at the trade deadline .... and its not because there WR’s are all that and a bag of chips ... IMO an old Tate is there best reciever ...

Wentz also didn’t have a healthy Sproles for very many games at all ... he got hurt right out of the gate and missed a GOOD CHUNK of the season ... hey also started to use Josh Adams a lot more depending on game flow about 3/4’s of the way through the season ..

Not a slam on Foles ... Wentz is taking a lot of “heat” for things he shouldn’t be ...

We’ll see what happens ...

j/c:

A few thoughts on the QB situation in the NFL this year.

--Wentz is very gifted and was adversely affected by last year's knee injury. No way Philly gives up on him and keeps Foles.

--I think Foles will be moving on. I'm not very educated about how the management side of the NFL, but it would seem to make sense for Philly to do a sign and trade if it is possible. There will be teams that will want Foles as their qb.

--Flacco is a better qb than many give him credit for. He will be a hot commodity for QB hungry teams.

--Teddy is interesting. He was just coming into his own when he suffered that horrific injury. I didn't think he would ever play again. He looked good in preseason, but was very mediocre when he played in the last game of the year. Not sure how much interest he will draw?????

--Taylor will draw some interest. We have to remember that he did not fit Haley's offense and Haley wouldn't bend. It's going to be tough for him to land a starting gig because there are other qbs available this year and Haskins is going to be drafted in the first round. Murray might be another first round guy should he decide to enter the draft. We might be able to keep Taylor.

--Ryan Tannehill could hit the market. Miami's record w/him as the starting qb was pretty damn good. He would draw legitimate interest.

--Eli Manning isn't a sure bet in NY. I doubt he moves on, but he could be available. Not sure if anyone would want him as a starter, but he has ties to Coughlin and is better than either Bortles and Kessler. He might make sense for the Jags should they draft Haskens or Murray.

--Carr is probably not on the table, but I wonder how happy Gruden is w/him? It looks like there is a real possibility that Alex Smith won't be back in Washington. Would the two brothers manufacture a trade for Carr?

--Andy Dalton is another long-shot. After his injury, there was a report that Cinci might not re-sign him. Not sure how the coaching change affects all of that noise, but there is a possibility that Dalton might become available.

Time will tell. I think teams know how to defend him and he's limited to me...limited to the middle of the field and benefits from a great TE. I don't look at stats really, but my memory is that he makes throws to a terrific and often wide open TE and dumps the ball. I don't see him stand in the pocket going through his options and ripping the ball around the yard. Foles won the SB on that team...I don't think Wentz would have. JMO

There are a lot of teams in QB-purgatory if you ask me. You named a few with Carr, Tanny and Dalton. Ok QBs on good teams...very mediocre or worse when they need to carry the team for stretches. Just enough to tease you into sticking-with/extending them. I'd put Stafford in that category too...what a tease that guy is.

I never saw what you did in Teddy. Unfortunately, his injury may keep him from being what you believed he could. Too bad...good guy from what I gather. I think he gets a call from a team(s) that needs to upgrade...and in spite of my criticism...I'd rather roll with him than Bortles/Kessler and probably Tanney, Hopefully he gets a chance and gets completely healthy...so we can debate whether he is any good. catfight

Flacco...I am one who is very critical of that guy. He's always been on decent-to-good teams (not his fault) and feasts off of throws...that look like punts...that turn into BS P.I. calls. I agree he's probably underrated by some fans...but the announcers sure loved his jockey strap. That said, he is better than a slew of teams' QBs and I think Baltimore is about to make a HUGE mistake.

San Fran has TWO guys that would make good backups...a rarity if you ask me. Then again, that could be Shanny's doing.

If TT can't get a starting gig, I'd be good with him being a backup here. I won't blame him if he moves on for a shot at starting.

I think Peen is onto something re: backup QBs who can pull it down and run. There aren't a lot of guys who can step in for a starter type...and the guys who ARE out there (Teddy, Mullens, TT) might get a chance to start somewhere given the status of many teams' QBs right now. Not to mention a crappy draft coming up for QBs.

Dorsey via MKC:

Quote:
On extensions for Breshad Perriman and Rashard Higgins

Dorsey said talks have begun for receivers Breshad Perriman and Rashard Higgins, who are both set to become free agents in March.

Baker Mayfield likes both, and both made big plays for him down the stretch. Perriman brings blazing speed, and flourished with the Browns. Higgins has been a Mayfield favorite since training camp. Both receivers have told cleveland.com they want to sign extensions.

"We've had conversations with [their] representatives and we'll continue to have conversations,'' said Dorsey. "Once we get the chance to get the new coaching staff in place and we have an assessment of our team and the positions, then I'll be able to better answer that question."

3. Greg Robinson too

Like Perriman, Robinson was a first-round "bust'' who had his career resurrected in part by Mayfield believing in him. The Browns are now also trying to extend Robinson's contract, and he told cleveland.com he wants to be back.

"I like Greg and I like everything he represents,'' said Dorsey. "With regard to could he be our left tackle, we've had ongoing conversations with his representatives.''

At 26, the former No. 2 overall pick is still in the prime of his career. He'll have a veteran offensive line coach in James Campen, formerly of the Packers, guiding him.

"I totally expected Greg to play well,'' said Dorsey. "He's a very young man who has incredible athletic gifts. Sometimes you have to be a little patient with guys like that. You have to earn their trust. He did everything he was asked and everything we thought he would since we signed him in late June.''

That doesn't mean Dorsey has given up on undrafted rookie left tackle Desmond Harrison.

"He got exposed to a lot early, and it's always good to step back,'' he said. "Getting thrust in that position was hard but I thought he was really good. So now how do we grow? Learn from our mistakes, build from our mistakes and move forward. This offseason, he has a lot to build on because he's a mighty talented individual.''

I think it's great we're talking to them about extensions and am happy to hear his comments about Harrison. That kid has the skill set to do great things.

I am happy too. Now it's a matter of how big the players and agents heads get.

Higgins should jump. He was cut last year. Robinson too because he knows he was on his last real chance. Perriman and his agent may be more inclined to see what the market holds.

Yeah, we don't know how any of it will play out but it's nice just to know Dorsey is making every attempt at making things happen.

I also like the way he's letting us know what's going on without really saying what's going on. That part doesn't really make him a better GM, but from a fans perspective I like it.

IMO, the o-line position we should be talking about is RT, and not LT. Harrison struggled, but performed admirably given his experience and how raw he is. Greg came in and performed really well. Hubbard was there the whole time, and struggled as well, but then performed better down the stretch.

To me, that's the more intriguing part of the line, as there was no personnel change there. Would people say Hubbard played well? Did we scheme to keep him out of trouble?

I'm not a fan to letting guys that played well walk out the door, but I'd love to make a spot for Harrison if he's readied his game to the level of a starter.

For my money, these need retained

Breshad Perriman, WR

Browns offensive tackle Greg Robinson

Briean Boddy-Calhoun, DB

Rashard Higgins, WR

There are a few others that at times did a nice job, but I think we can do better.

Higgins showed so much this season, letting him get away now would be a shame.

Calhoun is a guy that you can say, always played well and you just can't have to many DB's.

Robinson should be obvious why.. even if we get a good LT from the Draft, this kid showed up.....

Perriman came out of nowhere.. He was off the trash heap.

Nobody expected him to really turn out to be the guy he turned out to be. Credit Dorsey and Kitchens and Williams for getting the best out of him.. And of course, credit Perriman for stepping up and putting in the work.

My biggest concern so for Dorsey - are FA and handling the cap. Didn't KC have a huge CAP issues and was a big reason why Dorsey was let go? I maybe wrong, I thought I read somewhere they were in cap heck

This article does mention CAP issues but it makes it sound like it was a problem before Dorsey got there. Plenty of comments about how much he was liked and how much he was respected in house and around the league..

I have to think that if he had an inability to handle the CAP, wouldn't it have shown up this past year? Pocket full of money and he didn't exactly spend like a drunken sailor LOL

Just something I have heard a few times.

We shall see I guess, you have to spend money to make money.

Teams are not built on 1st round picks - because they are expensive. You have to find those gems on day 2 and 3 that produce for pennies on the dollar, like Avery.

For instance, when Ward, Mayfield, Peppers, Garrett all want paid, we need to make sure we have enough to retain them all at the time. We have a lot of young talent drafted high that are going to demand some hefty tags in the next 3-5 years.

Or w replace them with later picks or lower numbers. Trade-offs are part of the game, and we can get set up for awhile IMO. But this isn't about bargains. Pay for talent worth owning.

Wasn't KC Dorsey's first GM gig? He was probably on a learning curve there, and he seems to be a good "learner." He's already shown me he can do wonders with picking out "economical" free agents though.

With Higgins being a restricted FA, I doubt Dorsey pushes anything big with him. I would like to sign him long-term though. He has grown a lot since he first came to Cle.

I thought Hubbard played well and progressed nicely the 2nd half of the season of course the entire offense did. But his game stepped up a notch.

Neither Robinson nor Hubbard were "GREAT" OTs but it would have to be a rather major investment for us to be able to Upgrade on either.

Harrison is a big time key. The kid has talent. He should have a good off season in conditioning and he came to us RAW now he has a much better foundation of Technique starting the new season. Still has a big time UPSIDE. I don't see him as a RT though.
