McConnell blasts House bill that makes Election Day a federal holiday https://thehill.com/blogs/floor-action/4...federal-holidaywell, i know what side republicans aren't on. i support this bill from the house, as it will encourage more people to show up to the polls. election day should be a federal holiday from the jump, that way as many people can show up as possible. also, america can never run out of reasons to throw a BBQ. Maybe I read what Mitch was saying wrong, but it sounds like he is saying the bill will only give Federal Employees the day off paid. I haven't read the bill so I am only going off what this/he stated. The package, which is considered a signature issue for House Democrats, includes legislation that makes Election Day a holiday for federal employees. It also encourages private business to give employees the day off.
“Their bill would make Election Day a new paid holiday for government workers, and create an additional brand new paid leave benefit for up to six days for any federal bureaucrats who decides they’d like to hang out at the polls during an election,” McConnell added on Wednesday.
The bill encourages to give the day off, but you and I know they wont lol.

With all the pre-vote options, mail in ballots, etc, there really is no reason people can't vote in time.
We don't have to agree with each other, to respect each others opinion.

I believe that, where and whenever possible everything should be done to maximize voter numbers. This should not be that difficult.

I believe that, where and whenever possible everything should be done to maximize voter numbers. This should not be that difficult.

I have no problem with, but honestly, i am not sure how many more people would actually vote.

It's not that difficult. We have early voting, mail in voting, absentee voting, polling places, ride shares.. at what point is it ok to expect a citizen to put forth just a modicum of effort to ensure they get to vote?
