We'll need a thread where DK Metcalf and Andy Isabella fans can fight to the death. So I thought now is probably a good of a time as ever to start the WR thread, where we do a deep dive into the WRs in this year's draft class.
As this is pretty spur of the moment, I don't actually have a completed breakdown or tape on one of the top WRs. However I did want to share an interesting video of Riley Ridley working out with Ochocinco and TO

Hakeem Butler actively attacks the ball in the air about as good as any WR in this draft. I can't remember a time where he tried to bucket catch or lay out for no reason. I like him quite a bit. Good long speed but he is a strider and takes a minute to get going. When I was comparing the big WR's to take in the 2nd round (I like our WR group and think we only need a little mis-match size for them all to come together), he ended up being my pick.
I tried to find something to show what I'm referring to. This guy sounds like he's blaming Butler for not catching one of the most absurdly underthrown passes I've ever seen but for the most part it's solid.
I think Terry McClaurin OSU will be a steal in rd. 3 this kid can play ...
John 3:16 Jesus said "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."
Vers mentioned Butler several months ago and I started paying attention to him. There's a lot to like, not the least of which is the way he fights for YAC.

It doesn't necessarily mean anything, but I don't think I saw Butler use an inside release more than once in the 4 games I watched. With his YAC-Ability and cushion teams gave him, I'm surprised they didn't run more/any slants/drags.
His highlights look very good, and I'd be glad to add him to the team. I'm just not sure how high in the Draft I'd do it.
You mess with the "Bull," you get the horns. Fiercely Independent.
I really like Deebo Samuel WR South Carolina. Not in round 1 but with our 2nd pick if he is still there I think he would be a good fit for the Browns receiving group.
He is a very good route runner, good hands, competitive. smart, sees the field well, tough, YAC ability. Kind of a Jarvis Landry clone.
Romans 10:9 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in thy heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."
I think Wesley will rise up boards. He only has 1 year of tape IIRC but he looks impressive. However, he is a very slender 6-5 - he'll need to add some mass IMHO.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Oklahoma WR Marquise Brown underwent surgery to repair a Lisfranc injury on January 8.
Brown originally suffered the injury in the Big 12 Championship Game and was able to play through it in the Orange Bowl. Brown will not be able to participate in the Combine and his Pro Day, but Schefter reports he is expected to be ready for training camp. The cousin of Antonio Brown, Marquise was expected to run fast at the Combine and come off the board on Day 1. Despite this injury, he still has a good chance to be a first-round pick.
I still haven't heard a true time for Marquise Brown but there were some rumors floating around Norman he would get into the high 4.2's at the combine. OU times electronically so I'm sure they have his fastest time recorded but that would have been without the specialty training these guys do for the combine.

Doesn't matter, small fast guys with foot problem? I wouldn't take him before the 4th round with that type of fatal health flaw.
He should drop because of this. Again Dorsey in his intensified study of Mayfield after being fired by the Chiefs should also have a good understanding of Marquise Brown if he chooses to go that direction.

I don't touch a receiver with that injury until maybe late 3rd. Brown is special because of speed and I doubt he Will ever have the 4.3 speed again. Liz Franc is 50/50 imho.
TE Cj Conrad had the Injury as a junior probably goes late first without the injury. He will be a 4 to 6 round guy this year. I know having the worst QB in college didn't help but just wasn't any explosion from him. Still great hands and good blocker but Liz Franc injuries are killers.
Keep an eye on the small school receivers this year. Think we could see 5 it 6 gone in the 3rd or 4th. Real talented sleepers this year at receiver.
The Browns are in a very good position because Dorsey put us there.
We have viable options that will make the decision less troubling.
The Combine is not the only measurement.
In the end I am confident we will have a formidable offense.
My real interest in this off season is how the team improves as a whole.
When the season ended my thoughts centered on getting a monster at linebacker. Avery really had a great rookie year and I believe he will get better. Schobert is the type of defender any team needs. He is a good all around player. But he is also a leader and plays a smart game. Kirksey and Collins are solid starters but not difference makers.
There are a number of good receivers in this draft.
If Dorsey sees a guy he feels will help us I am sure he will act.
I have to admit that my attention to Hakeem Butler has gone up considerably following the combine. When I look at the video on him I can see he offers something different than we have in the present group of receivers.

Would you trade up for Parris? How far might we need to go. I think the NFL is going to continue getting faster; this could be our own piece in that puzzle maybe? He has wowed me at Combine.

I'm not entirely sold on Boykins ability to separate/play to his timed speed, but I like a lot of what I've seen. Not a de-cleater, but always finding guys to seal off on running plays. Could be another big target for Baker and a bonus in the running game.

I don't want us to take WR but the kid I really like is AJ Brown, he is like a RB at WR. Got those thick legs runs good routes and has good hands. He would be a nightmare for CBs they would be afraid of him!

aren't we really in the spot where we literally can take the best player available?
Yes +1

I think that would be a great match if he falls that far. I'm with you as it pertains to the WR position. I certainly feel adding a big bodied WR to the mix would be a positive. But I don't feel we need to make a first or second round investment to accomplish that.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.
On the MockDraftable site, where they have all those spider-web graphs of player measurables, they list Hakeem Butler's closest comparison as Jamal Custis. I think it's pretty uncommon that the closest comparison is in the same draft class, so I took a look at Custis. Could be a late round/UDFA guy.
