The Steelers have about 10m in cap space (based on current cap estimate, that could go up or down) and trading him would create 21+m in dead cap (but also frees up 1 million if traded before March 17, and adds 1m to the negative after March 17). This means the Steelers would be paying $20-22m to not have him on the team - almost 10% of their cap space...

For the Steelers to trade him would mean that they need to cut (or renegotiate) the difference in salary and 6m more to make room for their draft picks.

I think it would have to take a pretty compelling offer for the Steelers to accept that kind of cap hell for a year (though cap hell may be the better hell).

Is it possible that part of a trade deal would be that Brown signs a new deal with the Steelers for way lower money, in exchange for a trade to a team that would then have him sign a contract similar to what he had. Thereby AB is not out anything, the Steelers save some cash, and get the trade they want, and the other team gets AB?

Can that even be done?

He is NOT coming to Cleveland, 1st the Steelers would never trade him in the division, 2nd he doesn't fit this teams Ideology which is team and not individual glory ... JMHO

he's still very very good, but what is he now, 30? That's not the end of his career by any means, but I think younger, more team oriented guys make more sense for us.

Hard to look the other way at his skills however..

I agree he is very talented maybe as good as anyone in the NFL, so him leaving Pittsburgh is a win even w/o us trading for him ...

Well, that also is true.. and you know, if they don't trade him to us, he won't be with Cincy or Baltimore either. so twice a year, he's out of our hair thumbsup

Damn good question my friend. I don't know the CBA well enough, but I assume because it is not his rookie contract, that it is possible. I suspect the signing bonus he got would escalate to this year, which looks to be 11.4m. Much smaller cap hit.

I would think that his agent would shy away from this unless the new team would agree to renegotiate once the trade happened. My guess is the league would have issues with this, but if it isn't against CBA, they'll have to take it up next round of negotiations.

Really interesting question.

If Hunt works out, and we were able to add OBJ, this offense would be legitimately dangerous for a few years.

Odell. With Landry on the other side, we would only need one set of receiving gloves for our starters.

Art II goes to Miami to talk to AB, AB refuses.

Couple things I want to point out, this tells me the Steelers are having trouble unloading AB or getting any decent offers.

Also, they had listed him as injured the last game of the year, and WE KNOW THIS IS FALSE. Should they not get punished by the league for that?

Funny. Yes.
Without doing a thing we have a good offense.

Meaning we sign Perriman and Robinson.

Hunt will most likely lose some games to suspension. However, we have Chubb. We have Duke "currently".

If Hunt played the second half he would gravy.

OBJ, on our roster? Please.

I seriously doubt that will happen but damn.

Brown? Not interested. He is a great player. But we don't need his head games.

I forgot to take his salary into consideration. At 22+m, it'd offset the dead cap money - so getting rid of him would be almost net cap neutral. So, Pittsburgh would be about where they are now, about 10 or 11m in cap space. This makes the trade more possible than my original post.

Driving home from work, I heard on the radio that Antonio Brown "liked" a tweet that referred to Roethlisberger as a rapist. I'm not Twitter guy, so I have no idea how to confirm that.

Signing Perriman isn't a given. His agent is Drew Rosenhaus, so its safe to say he's going to test the waters in FA.

Regardless of contract amount, I think we stand a better chance at extending Higgins than re-signing Perriman. But there is nothing wrong with getting both, if the price is right. The Rosenhaus representation of Perriman should be a concern. The last WR on a one-year deal w/ Rosenhaus, IIRC, was Pryor. We gave him a more than fair contract and he balked to test the market. That worked out swell for the client. Hopefully, the Browns' brain-trust that was here at the time would remind Drew and his client of that. I'm guessing, if we re-sign Perriman, it could end up being another one-year contract.... We keep a WR that proved to be successful last season and Perriman gets another year in the same system to rebuild his career and establish a larger sample size of consistent productivity.

Well that’ll burn the bridge, the house, the garage, etc, down.
That said, Ben is a creep that likely got away with more creepiness than he should have, or would have, had he not had money.

I'd like Perriman back too, but it's all about the contract, well, I wish much of it is about the contract after one good season out of "X" ( x= total seasons played) ....it's not like he was a world beater. However, many times on the field, he was more productive/valuable/reliable than Landry:

"VICE GRIPS....LETS GOOOOOOOooooooooooooooo *L* " rofl

But i digress. All I am presenting is that he had one good season (relatively speaking) and the rest have sucked. I'm not sure anyone should overpay for him. The Browns or anyone else.

We'll see.

Dave, I think we should bring Perriman back just as you do. However, this Dorsey guy has been incredible. He made a great trade for Landry. Absolutely stole him from Miami. Drafted a troubled player in Callaway that has thus far been a good move. He brought in Perriman off the freaking streets. Dude was a former first round pick and we got him for almost nothing. He got rid of two jerks and sucky WRs in Coleman and Britt that Sashi brought in. He tried to give Gordon a chance but finally had enough. Now, Gordon is suspended yet again.

I think it's hard to argue w/anything he has done w/this group. Dorsey is the first GM that we have had since our rebirth that I really trust.

I don't know what we should do w/Perriman, but I'm going to have to trust Dorsey on this one because his track record has been superb.

Its not like we have a choice, but yeah, I trust Dorsey too. I just hope we find a way to keep a guy with the speed to take the top off a defense. Along with Callaway, Perriman is a guy that can keep a D-Coordinator up at night trying to figure out how to stop them.

Agreed. I think Dorsey will try to keep him. I think he will give him a fair offer. He won't low-ball him or not offer him a contract like Sashi did w/guys like Schwartz and Gipson.

The tricky part is Perriman's agent. He might prove to be difficult. We'll see.

I feel like our WRs are average. Other than Landry.

Baker elevates their play to Great.

So, if some guys leave, its not the end of the world.
We can get more WRs.

But I dont think they will leave. Baker is the hottest young QB in the NFL right now.

They would be stupid to leave.
